"The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dead dog was found wrapped in a black bin bag and dumped in a field in Banbury. On Sunday March 19 a member of the public called the RSPCA after discovering the body of a small black and tan Alsatian-Jack Russell cross dumped in a field off Ells Lane. A dead dog was dumped in a field in Banbury NNL-170320-101348001 RSPCA inspector Rachel Smith, who is investigating, said: “The dog was first spotted on Tuesday, March 14 and reported to us this morning when the remains hadn’t been moved. “The little Jack Russell terrier-cross had a large patch of fur loss and some scabs on his neck but, other than that, seemed to be in a reasonable condition so it’s not clear how or why he had died.” The dog’s microchip information has him registered as a six-year-old Jack Russell terrier called ‘Handsome’ but the contact details on the database are out-of-date. Inspector Smith added: “It’s not clear whether the dog has died in suspicious circumstances or whether he’s died of natural causes and his body has then dumped but I’d like to find out more about the circumstances surrounding his death. “I’d be really interested to know where this little dog has come from and how he ended up being thrown away in a black bin bag like rubbish. “If anyone recognises this dog, knows where he may have come from, or saw anything suspicious in the area when the body was dumped then I’d really like to hear from them. “Anyone with any information which could help our investigation should contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.” The RSPCA provided additional images that are too distressing to publish."
