- So very sorry that your lovely golden oldie never made it home to you safely. I am sure you will have lots of golden moments spent together. It is these memories that will one day bring a smile back to you in time. She runs free, young once more and forever in the sunshine over Rainbow Bridge where one day she will run and greet you. Xx

- I'm very saddened to be bringing the news that Smudge has been found today. It's thought she didn't have the strength to get home as was found in the field by the earlier sightings of an animal by the Durrant turning.
Run free over the bridge lovely lady. Our condolences to family and friends xxx - 2017-04-03 07:44 Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

- Disappointed, as it raised hopes at the time.. but just hope and pray she is spotted soon especially with the ad in the Blackmore Vale Magazine now.

- Not the news we were hoping for sadly but Hannah has this evening seen the animal previously mentioned again tonight and confirmed it is indeed a small fox without a tail

- Thank you Bobble & Linda (Coombes). Praying those posters bring some news. To my knowledge there have been no further news of any sightings of the animal seen a few days ago , but hopefully if it was Smudge and she's still in the area the posters will bring some news of new sightings

- Hi... Wed pm I distributed more posters where dog was so called seen, walked the trailway, and coach road/Durrant posters put up there also. I spoke to several and told them they would look out for Smudge also yesterday (Thurs) spoke to more people .. I am today going to local animal charity shop and give lady posters to distribute as well. Smudge is advertised in pets section of our local Blackmore Vale Magazine which is out today and distributed all over North Dorset and surrounding areas. Hopefully this all helps.

- I sent the leaflets for printing to the email address listed on 28th March, I've not had a reply, are you able to print them off and do a letterbox drop in the areas of possible sightings? Posters and leaflets really do get dogs home.
Any news?Last edited: 2017-03-31 10:11:10 by Bobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex - 2017-03-28 23:27 Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
- Adding the comment from the lady that had the sighting of the fox like terrier animal seen last night in the same area. Family are aware of both sightings which have occurred early in the evenings.
"Hi. I saw something a bit odd earlier and didn't really think anything of it until I saw this pic. I was driving out of stur, just before the bridge by the Durrant turning. There was an animal in the road sniffing some muck, at the time I assumed it was a fox (and I still think it probably was!), but it had a docked tail. Again I just assumed it was a tail-less fox! But I wasn't that close and only really saw an outline. I know this is a very very chance sighting, but it might be worth checking the area. Particularly in the field that leads to the old coach road. I really hope she is found!!!"Last edited: 2017-03-28 23:28:44 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset - 2017-03-28 20:57 Unknown

Yesterday evening while walking my dog in the railway park in Sturminster Newton I came across a dog/fox creature. It looked foxy from a distance until I noted it was too small (terrier size) and had a docked tail. I tried to catch it but as I was tying up my own dog the pooch ran through the bushes and disappeared!!!! - 2017-03-28 15:53 Bobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
- Been out drove to Marnhull and then to Manston into Stur that way. I see the abattoir is still there, but very tight security, would be a good place to speak to someone though as she would be drawn there if hungry. Parked up near Yewstock and walked all of the new estate, down the footpath and across a farm track to Marnhull. Then back and across footpaths to Manston. No sign at all, no dog walkers out and few people to talk to. Those, I did were not aware, so that side of Stur and Manston need blitzing with posters and leaflets. I only drove through the main part of the town, did a loop and went and parked up, but did not see any posters. Is there anyone there who can do that please?

- I'm not sure whether the lady has done the houses nearby her... I gave her a leaflet on Sat to do so... she has not got back to me. I leafleted a few more in the town... lady was going down to Durrant area which is just over the bridge today as a lady reported a sighting of 'something' in the road last evening but thought it may have been a small fox, but it had a docked tail. Look on J W's site. If I can be of any further help please let me know or call me. Hope we can find the little fellow soon x.

- I'll head down that way today to walk one of my dogs. I think if I drive to Manston towards Stur, it maybe where no one else has looked yet?
Also, I assume all the houses and business along Stalbridge Lane have already been leafleted? - 2017-03-27 21:52 Jaycey
- Shared on FB. ..Hope Smudge is found very soon xx

- I been into Stur and distributed some more posters... I also wandered this side of the river this morning... but like you say it is most likely to be the other side where she was let out from the house.
- 2017-03-27 13:53 beagle3
- while i have no direct information, from googling the area from where she ran away.Is she not most likely to be the other side of the river, not the town side?

- Hi... Its Linda Coombs... I have today visited the lady who was looking after Smudge..I gave her a poster to copy and distribute, I also put some up in Sturminster Newton playing field, pet shop, the Sturminster Mill where a lot of dog walkers visit.. and mentioned it to a few people there and also in the paper shop in the square - So hopefully all this will help.

- water is a grave danger to older dogs, do check streams, rivers, lakes, garden ponds

- Thank you Bobble, I've forwarded you suggestions to the neighbour helping to ensure its seen as had registered Smudge myself

- I lived nearby at Fiddleford for 6 months, so know the area a bit. I'd advise postering like mad around the old railway line, Co-Op car park, Kev's garage will put one up for you and all local pubs, especially as this will be a busy weekend for people out and about. Good luck.

- I have spoken with the neighbour trying to help an elderly owner find Smudge. Local vets have been advised though the warden as yet has been uncontactable as we are heading into the weekend.
I have advised that scent items are left out for Smudge both at the owners own home which is only some 5 miles from where she went missing but also where she had been staying.
