- fionap58 Thanks for the info; It must take a lot of time, and patience to help these rescue dogs trust people It must be hard work though, helping these dog not to be afraid of humans

- I have 2 romanians and a cypriot dog and was given great advice by the romanian rescue but not so much by the greek one. However good the advice and however careful the owner sometimes these dogs are so scared they will do anything to get away. So sad that it ended this way before he realised what a fantastic life was ahead

- Saw on facebook he managed to jump the fence. Feel the need to say they do give advice and support. I have 2 dogs from this rescue. One is a kokoni cross looks just like Chester in a different colour and believe me he can jump forwards, backwards, sideways and a long way and runs like the wind. Very unfortunate and terribly sad for all concerned when they were hoping he would have a better life here than straying on the streets of Cyprus :-(

- Oh no not another one. All that way over here to die. I have two Rescues one from Romania. People are given instructions from the Rescuers about harnesses, double leads etc. but, unfortunately lots of people don't adhere to the rules. You have to be one step ahead of these poor souls until they have settled. RIP. you were beautiful xx

- I so agree with Sarah. There are too many rescue dogs, particularly those from abroad, off the streets who bolt. These dogs must be petrified. Why don't the rescues give clear instructions to new owners to double- lead these dogs with harness and collar? Can't we start some sort of education programme so less escape and ultimately, less die. I don't know what happened here and my heart goes out to those involved, but this does seem to happen incredibly often 😥

- Very sad. Just a young boy with whole life ahead. I know it's a great thing to rescue these poor dogs from abroad but just wish harnesses and leads used as double precaution. Not sure of circumstances here. Thoughts with the rescuers Last edited: 2017-04-11 09:59:03
