Even though it gave me some heart wrenching moments I am so very pleased that you have your lovely dog home. So lucky for you all. Delighted for you x

So pleased, well done xx

Thank goodness she's safe. Well done everyone. And to the cruel sicko's out there, it's a pity you haven't got something in your life that means the world to you. Only then will you understand the upset your stupid prank phone calls cause.

Great news, well done all. Last edited: 2017-04-17 09:54:38

Thank goodness Brian was found...She must've gone through hell being trapped like that for days...She's a very lucky girl..I must ask..Why has Brian got a male name - or is pronounced Bree-Ann? ..just curious..Stay safe lovely little Brian xx

I have added a reunited photo and one of how firmly stuck in the hole Brian was. Please refresh/reload the page to see them.

Phew! Thank goodness Brian is now safe at home with you and your family now. She had certainly got herself well and truly stuck in that hole. Great that the hosepipe 'method' worked again! Thanks to all who turned up to help today, thankfully not a long one today.
Special thanks to Jen for your expertise, Mark for your digging and the other lovely people who were 'at the hole'! It was amazing to see Brian's little nose even though she could not get free from the roots that were holding her down (she was stuck on her side)
Terry and Lee, you were brilliant and you did everything to find your precious girlie. Well done!
Once more we were joined by regular helpers and some new ones too so we have another excellent team for that area now! Thanks so much to each and everyone of you. I hope you all enjoyed a well deserved drink in Three Oaks pub (thanks Terry for putting tab behind the bar) My hubby and I were able to relax and have a lovely roast dinner and venison casserole knowing Brian was safe.
I'd like to thank the proprietors of Three Oaks pub for all their support. Remember folks this pub does THE best meals and have had a hard time with the local roads being closed. You can still park up close and walk there so go and try their food and ale out!
Welcome home Brian!

Oh fantastic News, so relieved she has been found safe and well ..

YAY! We have her!
Brian was totally wedged in. Thank you to Jen, Mark, Dionne and her friend (sorry forgotten your name), Diana and of course Clarkey.
Brian is acting like nothing happened, she has had a little to eat, and is now playing with her friend Suggs and out digging in the garden!

Word from area co Clarkey and helpers...They have found Brian...She was wedged stuck down a hole...they have just dug her out...Update when the team gets back home with full story...well done team brian!
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Lee. To anyone who is happy to help please speak to Terry or Lee before going out to search as the area Brian is lost on is private farm land. They will explain where you will be allowed to go as the farmer has sheep and lambs in his field.
Best of luck with the search.
Lee
We have a small group meeting at Three Oaks Public House car park, 10.30am to investigate the rabbit holes and see if we can hear Brian. If anyone has an hour this morning and would like to join us it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your help and comments so far.

I've just got back from our morning walk, gone from Westfield lane, down into Westfield, up stonestile lane into the back end of maplehurst woods. Round maplehurst woods and then back up onto Westfield lane. May be worth popping into the livery yards in the area (18 pounder, sandhurst) just to make sure they're aware so they can keep an eye out out hacking?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
That's such a shame. I've advised to try to check the holes with funnel and hose (listening and calling) and also to keep the scent items fresh so Brian has something familiar to settle with when she does get herself unstuck.
Until then just keep doing what you are doing. If Brian has got out and is wandering around then the posters should bring a sighting as a lot of people in the area are aware that she is still missing.Last edited: 2017-04-15 20:22:46 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

No news. We all took a walk around fields this morning. It really does seem likely she has gone to ground and is stuck.
We have emailed K9 tracker and are waiting to hear back from them.
Terry is going over in the morning (Sunday) to listen down the rabbit holes nearby again. Last edited: 2017-04-15 16:30:12 by Lee

Oh how horrible.
Any news?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
That's terrible, I'm so sorry. As Alison says please report this to the Police and if they call again try to make a note of what time they ring you.
You are doing a good job searching and getting posters up. I know that you have left bedding where Brian was lost from and that you are checking it regularly which is great.
Thanks TK, that's kind of you. Yes, I believe that Network Rail are aware and the trains are not very frequent on that line. They do usually alert drivers when they have had notification of a lost dog in the area.
Lee: Remember you have a lot of nice people out there supporting you with your search so please take some comfort from that at what is obviously a very hard time for you. Fingers crossed we get a sighting soon. Last edited: 2017-04-15 00:21:53 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Lee please report the abusive calls to your local police force.
Lee
We are now receiving abusive phone calls. Probably a group of people that have picked the number up from facebook. The caller said 'I've got your dog, I am going to rape it'
Quite distressing obviously. Just want to ensure people are forearmed that people will actually do this.

Had a walk around fields this evening, parked up in Butchers Lane & took the footpath up the small road next to Morgay Wood Lane, Had a walk around fields at back, going down over the railway line. and had a good view of fields the other side, then walked back up and along back of houses and pub and out onto Maxted Lane. We could hear quite a bit of shooting in Doleham direction, which could well scare her off if she had been in area. Saw a few posters accross the fields & replaced one that had come off gate. So hope there is some news soon.
Have Network Rail been alerted? Only one train came along whilst we were by bridge, it seemed to go very slowly so was wondering if driver was aware to be careful along that piece of track..?

Thanks for keeping us updated Lee.
I think the dog that on West Hill has just been found and is a Chihuahua but definitely worth checking. I have asked the person who has found it to call the Dog Wardens (01424 490034 available all weekend) to get the dog checked for it's microchip.
lbh: That's interesting and thanks for letting us know exactly where this was. Last edited: 2017-04-14 18:20:43 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Possible sighting on East Hill, Hastings heading towards Fairlight. The dog was definitely on its own. Spotted yesterday. I am heading up there for a look and to put some posters up.
Lee
Many thanks lbh I will go and take a look. Terry

I have just walked some of the fields alongside Moor Lane (out of Westfield towards the Three Oaks junction). Unfortunately no sighting but my dog did do a lot of scenting (not in his usual 'I want to catch a rabbit' way) around the footpath opposite Lankhurst Farm - in the area past the pylon and around the pond. There are a lot of large badger holes around the pond - maybe worth a check? Last edited: 2017-04-14 09:22:19 by lbh

So sorry to hear she is still missing, Well done for getting all those posters up,
Did your other dog focus on any area in particular earlier?
Lee
UPDATE
4 posters in fourteen acre lane, 1 Morgay Wood Lane, 3 along the footpath across the footpath, one was outside Westfield school sadly been removed. Two on Doleham hill. So the 20 are quite scattered.
Been out all day with no luck. We are quite certain that she must be underground somewhere. She has a history of running from home when she has escaped from our enclosed garden. The longest she has been gone is around 16 hours, then she would return home absolutely exhausted and sleep for a day! Of course when she has disappeared before she has been able to come home.
Brian is quite timid and doesn't like loud noises, gunshot, or big dogs. She does however love people and cuddles. I would like to thank everyone again for their efforts

Thank you so much shelleyD!
We have put 20 posters up and around Three Oaks today. My husband has been walking the area around where she disappeared from all day today. He has been back home and collected our other dog to walk her around the area in the hope she may help to find Brian. Thank you for all your help x

Staff at Coghurst Holiday Park notified - will keep a look out.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Going from Three Oaks pub, which side (right or left) did Brian go missing from please?
Please make sure there are posters in 14 Acre Lane as that backs on to the land beside Maxfield and Morgay Woods Lane. Worth making sure the brickworks (Sussex Handmade Bricks Ltd) have a poster too.
There are public footpaths through some of the farmland off 14 Acre Lane so try putting posters at the entrances if possible. I've shared to a couple of friends who live in that lane so I'm sure they will keep a look out for Brian.
Please let us know which lanes/roads you have already put posters up in so anyone helping can do different places. Thanks.
Thanks shelleyD!Last edited: 2017-04-13 15:44:46 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Sorry to hear that Brian has gone missing. Thanks also for the extra information as it always helps to know the circumstances.
Thanks Springermad and TK.
I have sent out our Doglost email advice which should help you with your search.
I had a quick chat with Terry but unfortunately lost reception. Posters are already going up which is excellent and searching continuing. The farmer whose land Brian was lost on is aware.
I would suggest taking your other dog on a lead/longline to see if she leads you to any particular area or rabbit hole. Often dogs will hear things that we can't so please trust her if she does this.
I would also suggest that you leave bedding/unwashed scent items (unwashed socks/tshirts work well) where you were last with Brian. Also it would be well worth being there this evening and in the early hours if possible (and if the farmer is ok with this) and perhaps run the engine occasionally as Brian will recognise it and may come out to you.
Another idea is to set up a disposable BBQ so that if Brian is still in the area she will be tempted by the smell of food (sausages, bacon etc)
It does sound like Brian is in a hole but there are also deer in the area so she could have run off after one of those and got herself lost.
Unfortunately my car is off the road so I can't come out to help search but I know you are doing all you can to find her.
One other thing to be aware of is that there is a railway line there so please inform Network Rail. They are usually quite good alerting their drivers so that they slow down if they see a dog near the tracks. You can call them on their 24hr helpline http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/1346.aspx
Also please make sure there are posters at Three Oaks and Doleham stations. Sometimes passengers will see a loose dog from the train windows whilst they are travelling and will report this if they know one is missing.
Please let us know when you get a sighting or of any other information that will help with the search. Thanks
Best of luck with your search for Brian.
Lee
The road is still closed, but apparently they are opening it over the Easter weekend.
My husband has a load of posters and will be putting them up around Three Oaks today.
Still no sign :-(
shelleyD
I've been all round three oaks this morning, told lots of people about Brian. I've shared to the coghurst Hall holiday Park page which is just down the road. I couldn't print poster at home but off to work in a bit so if she is still missing tonight I will print some before I leave work at 11pm ready for the morning. I'll drive round for a while after work as she may be active after dark. Hopefully she'll head back to where she was lost today.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Thanks for the info Lee. We have shared her to most of the local groups and pages from hastings to Northiam and Westfield, Three Oaks. Fingers crossed. Is the road still closed in Three Oaks?
Lee
Oh and she is VERY friendly, so will be easily picked up by anyone with a kind voice.
Lee
Brian was in woodland down Maxfield whist we were on site working, she was being landrover dog for the day which is nothing unusual. She was let out to stretch her legs and she obviously found a scent which was irresistable. She developed terrier deafness and didnt hear the calls for her to come back! We have scoured the area twice, once last night, once this morning to no avail. She likes to go to ground and will spend hours digging around warrens. Brian lives in Beckley with us so Three Oaks is an unfamilar area to her!
