- Indoor cats dont usually go too far. He will be feeling very scared, and anxious, so he is most likely hiding somewhere close by. When checking outbuidlings, make sure he isn`t hiding behind an object within the building.. Cats are extremely good at keeping very still, and quiet, in these type of circumstances. They are renowned for it. The door he has access to leave wide open, and stand or sit at the side (Not in the centre) Easier acces for the cat. Wipe his scent around the door frame, and put some tuna or chicken inside the door. If it is dry today where you are sit outside the door, and act as though him going awol has been no big deal. If you see him approaching, just say "Hello., where have you been" or he may run off if anything like my cats. Poster too, and put "Lost" poster through doors too. When indoor cats escape they are out of their comfort zone, and feel much more safe, and secure when they are inside with their owners whom they trust. When it is quiet try a squeaky toy as he may "Respond " to it and may give you an indication of where he is hiding.
Leave something outside with your scent on too if dry.Last edited: 2017-04-23 10:13:39 - 2017-04-23 07:18 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
