No update on owner,s post either...but at least he was found xxx
DogLostNina
Had hoped that we would have had an update on Sparky to let us know how he was..I am sure during the time he was lost there were a lot of worried doglost helpersLast edited: 2017-05-14 19:40:09 by Nina

Great news! X

Glad he has been found, tracking collar sounds like a good idea but if the owner has dementia perhaps using an organisation like the cinnamon trust to walk the dog would be a good idea?

Mary
So pleased to see Sparky is back home with his owner. Perhaps a tracking collar would be a good idea on future walks.
LH
Brilliant!
DogLostNina
Such great news, thank you Karen
Karen Saunders
Sparky has been found alive and remarkably well this evening. Not sure of the details but he is home.
DogLostNina
I have approached the Basingstoke Gazette to see if they would do a story, if a few other helpers contacted them they may cover the story
DogLostNina
Has the family given any more thought to finding out about a drone as mentioned further down the page...it would save an awful lot of leg work
Doglover
I can add the link to his post...Sparky does not have his own page..

This is a comment from Owner,s Facebook post.....

UPDATE FROM OWNER.......Hello sorry to inform that their may be a misunderstanding with the previous sighting. We are going to be searching around turill hill and laverstokelane in the field area. The family would like to thank all those who have helped search the local areas and have contributed by advertising Sparky's missing poster on Facebook followed by passing the word to friends and family.
Sammie
Karen I think I have found you on fb and have messaged you as getting closer to my area.
Doglover
Have added the Stop Drop and Think poster to owners post on Facebook along with comments from Karen..... thank god he has been sighted and is not caught up anywhere. X
DogLostNina
Good idea Owl a BBQ might drawn him out. The scenting method might be a way forward of keeping his in one area.
DogLostNina
Thanks Karen.
DogLostOwl
Is it possible for someone to do a barbecue? Also, have family left some clothing with their scent on?
Karen Saunders
I have just spoken to the owners son and I now have better contact details. Although someone is manning the landline above I believe. I am reluctant to publish their phone number without their specific permission. However I am happy for people to contact me if you need further details.

The family are searching around the area of the reported sightings. Sparky is a nervous dog so people should not try to approach him but ring the family. I have posted on the Whitchurch Town Facebook page which local people are already sharing and we will just work from here. The family are going to try and get better information regarding the sighting, date and time before we put all of our search efforts into one area. I feel a little more hopeful than I did when I thought we were looking for a needle in a haystack.Last edited: 2017-05-11 15:13:30 by Karen Saunders

Karen Saunders your offer of co-ordinating things I am sure would be most welcome by the owners At least updates on the situation would be of help to those trying to helpLast edited: 2017-05-11 14:16:43 by Nina

Now that you have sightings, maybe someone from this dog trapping page can help set a trap https://www.facebook.com/groups/297059070692410/
DogLostOwl
Very pleased to see that you have sightings. Please make sure that all searchers including family know not to shout or chase. If he has settled in Whitchurch you don't want to scare him and move him on.
Karen Saunders
There have been reported sightings of Sparky in Whitchurch (RG28) area. Specifically on farm land off Micheldever Road and also behind the Primary School in a popular dog walking field, which borders the River Test and is relatively close to the farm land.
We will now switch our search area to Whitchurch and start to put up posters. Whitchurch is a small town and so there are more chances that people will see him. The good news is that it appears he is not tangled up and unable to move.
I have spoken to the family this morning so they are aware of this development. I am quite happy to help co-ordinate help if needs be.Last edited: 2017-05-11 10:39:14 by Karen Saunders

I have contacted the Basingstoke Gazette to see if they will run a story on Sparky
Mary
It would help if there was a mobile number on here for a family member.
DogLostNina
Owner/family if you have any updates I am sure we would all be grateful to hear themLast edited: 2017-05-11 09:13:53 by Nina

Thank you nickjm for messaging. Have spoken to family member who was getting ready to go out with others to try and search the area where they hope Sparky is. I suggested taking a squeaky toy in the hope that Sparky responds.
Doglover
I have suggested what everyone is suggesting ie drone, rabbit holes, any holes you name it...I have also tagged Jenny into the Original post and sent a message asking for her to phone owner and advise if not able to actually track.
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
I have sent Jenny a message with a link to this page. Hope Sparky is home safe soon x
DogLostNina
I have tried to make contact with k9tracker by filling out the online form without success because the owners are out searching. Please would anyone else be able to register the details.
Mary
Jenny is based in Kent but if she is available and knows your plight I'm sure would be willing to help. Their help would be invaluable in this situation.
Skywalker99
Jenny www.k9tracker.co.uk will always help if she is able, www.findmylostdog.co.uk has some useful info. I hope Sparky is found.

Mary
Have you contacted Jenny k9tracker.co.uk or on facebook.

It's so rural , we have about 50 houses in Laverstoke, we never see taxis and there is a small village school in Overton. Locally people know he is missing but there are so many hedgerows and woodland areas I think we need a miracle. It's like a needle in a haystack
DogLostNina
Contact all schools and colleges with a poster and offer a reward towards schools fund. Post taxi firms, poo bins, bus stops. drop post in post boxes so that post men can take back to the sorting office
DogLostNina
Does anyone know of a drone user that could help in this situation. Time is so important now.
Karen Saunders
We have walked the tracks and fields between Overton and Laverstoke tonight but there was no sign. It is a really sad story. I understand The owner has dementia, went out for a walk with the dog, arrived at a isolated house and said he had lost his dog and doesn't know what happened. The local area has been postered and leafleted but we think the dog is probably caught up by his lead somewhere remote and rural. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. It's heartbreaking and I just live nearby and dont actually know the people. We will go and look again tomorrow Last edited: 2017-05-09 22:15:56 by Karen Saunders
