mary i find facebook weird and pretty unhelpful regarding lost/found dogs - but she makes lots of comments re dogs on facebook, and 1 was about a missing dog looking so like this one. i left a mssg on the facebook - but have no idea whether that means she sees it. there arent email address or phone numbers - hence i find it a waste of time

As the dog was abandoned no-one knows whether this was by the owner or if the dog was taken first, we never assume until we have been able to establish facts, it is also the law that the dog warden must hold for 7 days before rehoming x

Why even bother finding the owner? To abandon a very young vulnerable puppy is shocking. This dog needs to go to a loving home asap - I know there are ermmmmm quite a few names coming forward....xx

There is simply no excuse for abandoning any animal. And to abandon a puppy? All you need to do is to contact an Animal contact centre such as the Blue Cross.

If this puppy was.left tied up that means whoever left it didnt want it anymore hope it goes to a.loving home soon x

Hi NickyB it means that the details havent been registered on the database, once a dog is chipped then the details of the owner get sent to the chip company to add to the database, if the details arent added for whatever reason then the microchip is usually referred to as unregistered x

I have just got off the phone to the animal wardens, pup is with them, chip is un registered, they are trying to track down the implanter but as of yet, have had no luck, she will stay with them till the 17th where she would have served her 7 days and if still unclaimed will go for rehoming....obviously they have a queue as long as the green mile

Simon H-in reply to your query,animalwardens limited(a company)rather than the council wardens hold the current contract for bury and stockport,mdh no longer take the strays from these areas.

this dog would not go to Manchester dogs home,as it is a stockport stray and mdh no longer take stockport dogs,animalwardens limited would probably take to commonfold kennels then possibly transfer to Merseyside dogs home,which they own.x

Animalwardens have the stray dog contract for this council and will rehome the dog after the 7 days in their care if finder isn't keeping. Common fold kennels and Manchester dogs home are the kennels they use. This information is available via a FOI question to the council in question.

Please ensure that you notify your local Dog Warden and the local Police Station - in Scotland you MUST inform your local Police Station and if possible contact the Dog Warden also.
The found dog may have a Microchip or a Tattoo - please have the dog scanned and checked for a tattoo at a vet's so that owners may be contacted as soon as possible.
Please check on our Missing pages in case the Found dog has been registered as missing with us.
If possible please add a photo as this greatly assists our work in matching Found dogs with Missing dogs.
