No matter what I will never forget her. I feel a little helpless at the moment as I am pregnant an alone as not been well not been able to look out and do the searching. I have photos of her all over the house but I just cant handle seeing so many people in this agony. It just gets to me so much. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I could not put a message in yesterday was too upset. Not had a good time of it recently and yesterday didnt make it any easier. My baby girl has been gone a year now and I know that its not likely I will ever see her again. I just hope that who ever has her is looking after her well and that she is loved. I saw the magazine and I hope that it makes a difference for all the dogs that managed to get into it. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have not put any messages on the sight for a while because I just dont know what to say anymore. I have been on and had a look at a number of the dogs but I have got to a stage where I am lost for words. I know I have my Angel now but Maddie is always in my heart and thoughts. I cant help but cry while typing this but its nearly a year ago since she went. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda and thanks for your email,I did get it before and I have added it to the petition. I have got and printed off Maddies photo and it will be added to my new idea,it would help if you sent a short description on how Maddy was stolen, remember I am only doing stolen dogs! All the best JustineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I totally agree that vets should scan all dogs that visit a surgery. Contact Justine on 01795-533660 who is Alfie's owner - she lost her Yorkshire Terrier on 19.05.04 and has raised an excellent petition. Many people now visiting this website are contacting her for a copy of this petition to help collect signatures. An excellent idea because the more signatures we collect the bigger the impact on the 'powers that be'. Good luck in finding Maddy, it must be so difficult for you, but try and stay positive - she's out there somewhere!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a response from MP, which I feel was a waiste of time. They enclosed a copy of the letter from the House of Commons, the letter basically said nothing. They advised in these circumstances there is a sentence in force of 7 years the max for burgalry and they thought this was sufficient that was it. They had obviously not read the letter I sent, to try and get help and change the law so that all vets are chipped of tagged and these checked every time a animal visits the vet etc. Still miss here and will never stop looking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Runfold-Eddie:
Don't ever give up, Amanda. I was talking to a DW last week and they had a SBT in, scanned it and it was registered to a couple in Sheffield. The dog had been stolen 12m before. The current owners claimed it and were told that they had unwittingly bought a stolen dog (?200 in the Pub) They were devastated and wanted to "buy" it again from the real owners. The real owners took him home to Sheffield. So, there you are. Lets hope a similar thing happens to you and lets hope whoever "bought" Maddy in "the Pub" looks after her and cares for her until you get to do it again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have had a look at story, unfortunately I dont know any celebraties or any that live around. Still looking and searching will never stop. Going to chase mp as not had a response as yet. Puppy is fine she is totally different in looks and temprement to Maddie but I prefer that, it helps keep Maddie alive and how she was. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No response from mp as yet and saturday was a little sad, I got a new puppy on sunday its taken me a while to get one. I will never stop looking for my mads though and she will always be more than welcome home. As soon as I hear from my mp I will advise because something still needs to be done with the situation of stolen dogs. Its nice to have a dog around again but my baby girls photos will never be taken down. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

would it be worth while paying for some ads in the local papers putting the picture in, as they are not interested in doing a story, we had a good response from our local press although the leads didn't prove to be our dog. Keep your hopes up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have wrote a letter to MP so see what that brings, I am trying to find out where I can blow her poster up to put a big one up somewhere. Then get a placard sorted and start to make a noise. It was 4 months yesterday and I still miss her as much as I did when she first went. Wish my baby girl could just come home not that she will be a baby anymore. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda-I have been away a few days last week and missed your post-it is incredible the attitude of the papers in your area-they could really help find Maddy by doing a feature - Have you thought about doing something outrageous to get in the papers-maybe standing outside the police station with a placard saying the Police are useless or getting a poster of Maddy blown up and put on a famous landmark? Then let the papers know what you are going to do-write to your MP-chain yourself to the police station-or better still outside the Yorkshire post!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Chased Yorkshire Post yesterday again and gave me another number to call, rang and left a message no response. Rag back this Morning just spoke to them but it doesnt sound promising they said they dont realy do stories on stolen or missing dogs. I tried to explain it wasnt just about getting our babies back but to make people more aware of the situation and lack of help obtained which I put in the letter I sent. They just said would discuss with colleagues. Only thing I can think of is to get in touch with all other owners again and request the also send them a letter or call them. Why do some people seem to think its not important.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done! If they need facts and figures put them onto me! Its getting the initial call that is the most important-0nce they are interested enough to call they always do the article because they cannot believe how many dogs are going missing!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda-lots of reaction to the Calander feature. In fact one of the other posters with the 2 Westies on caused a reaction-look under Rosie and Jazzy-near bottom of main page.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jayne got article, I am going to give them another call today, print the article and send with a letter. I have now got 2 definates who will help push them. Going to keep ringing people and get as much help as possible. Something so needs to be done I just dont understand why the police are so not bothered, some of them must be pet owners themselves. Sorry but if it was a police dog things would be different im sure. At least I feel like I am doing a little more to find her and also help other owners as much as I can. It is nice to speak to people who know exactly what your going through I just hope these people who are taking dogs get their comeuppance in some way one day.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Amanda- I will e mail you an article(front page) of 2 recovered dogs in the Yorkshire Posts catchment area-owner has just sent it to me-very punchy and hard hitting! I will also send her number-do get in touch and forward the article to the Post-might prompt them to see it as "newsworthy" If you put Tula into the search box it may give you hope-this dog has been missing since August-the owner has pushed and pushed and finally got the story into her local newspaper and the BBC TV picked up on it and came out and filmed her 2 days ago! So keep going!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jayne, as soon as I have the full details I will pass it on, they were going to pass it to someone on news desk for appropriate area and get back in contact with me. Have spoke to the yorkshire post today, they have taken some details going to get someone to look into it and come back, hopefully with some good news. Going to get in touch with all owners that I have obtained details on later today. Fingers and toes crossed they will help. Thanks Amanda! I must say it was easier seeing what happened to Daisy rather than not knowing what had happened to my stolen dog for the 6 1/2 weeks she was away. However I do miss her so much-I do realise I am not going to see her again-this is not the case with Maddy-she is out there somewhere! Keep looking!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke to the owner last night and we had a chat, got info of dogs from postcodes given and number we will start to ring round. I have sent an email to start with again to Yorkshire Post, not realy sure how to approach tv, Look North replied to my last email saying they would not help. I looked at dogs reunited after reading about daisy I had to come off as got upset so sorry Jayne. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda, Give the owner of the 2 missing Westies a ring-she wants to get as many people together to approach the Yorkshire post and TV. Also ring anyone in their catchment area-YO, LS, S,WF, HG,HX,HD,HU,DN,HX,BD,TS and DL postcodes. Even ones who have had their dogs back in dodgy circumstances phone numbers are on the posters. I would restrict to those missing/found this year. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks it does help to hear of nice stories and that there are people out there that care. Have spoke to the examiner again and again have said they will ring me back, but im not realy in their area. I am not wanting them just to do a story for Maddie I want to get the word across for all the dogs stolen within the surrounding area, just to get some help for all of us and a liittle hope that some one will be kind enough to advise us if they have seen one. I NOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT CHIPPING, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT MITE BE YOUR ONLY PROOF OF OWNERSHIP.. AND WHERE EVER SHE IS , SHE CAN BE TRACED BACK TO YOU.. I HAVE HERD OF ANIMALS BEING REUNITED AFTER YEARS APPART. MY SISTER TOOK A STRAY CAT IN JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS, THE VET SCANNED IT JUST IN CASE AND SHE WAS CHIPPED..THE OWNER HAD MOVED HOUSE AND DIDNT CHANGE DETAILS.. MY SISTER MANAGED TO TRACE THEM THROUGH NEIBOURS.. BUT THEY DIDNT WANT THE CAT BACK.. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY SISTER WAS OVER THE MOON.. AND THE CAT IS VERY HAPPY.. SO YOU SEE THERE IS HOPE FOR POPPY AND MADDY YET.. KEEP STRONGLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know its great news for the others dogs that have been reunited, some after so long. It just feels like having her chipped was a waste of time. Its so frustrating awaiting to see if the papers will do a story, dont people realise there not just a pet but a family member. She is missed by all so much.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda I have had a call from the dog warden in Coventry where my Brandy went missing. She is putting Brandy into a newsletter that she writes. She said it goes to all dog wardens all over the UK. Why dont you contact your local dog warden to see if there is anyway you could get Maddy in as well. Also have you tried Battersea Dogs Home. I know you are a long way from London but I try there regularly as well as Birmingham dogs home in case Brandy has been picked up by a lorry driver or somebody coming south. I am transferring my work to London next week which is near Battersea. I am going to look for myself although when near BatterseaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank for your message, I have been in contact with SBT rescue and emailed a photo of her a while ago, she is also on the front page of clever staffords as well. They emailed for her details to put her on, it is nice so many people are out there that care and keeping a look out for us. Got all the number for dog wardens across the country will take some time but have to keep trying.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your messages, it jsut angers me its seems so hard that they could not help being a local newspaper for a community. People would still buy it and read it no matter if there was a story on stolen staffs and if they thought interesting or not, am sure the majority of dog owners would read and be interested. They are there to report and try stop crime and give information to people on all levels no matter the subject. They did a story on a set of monkeys that went missing which I thought was realy good of them especially that is was on the front page but they dismissed me like the story wasnt worth it. Its just made me more determined. Not yet heard from examiner paper as yet. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have never had a Staffy back who had been used for fighting! Just look at all the reunited Staffies and read their stories-they have all been looked after and are usually fatter than when they went. You must not listen to this reporter-it is just Chinese whispers!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Amanda, How awful-I am sure your dog is not being used for dog fighting-they cannot make a fighter out of a family pet!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just been in contact with evening courier local newspaper who was less than helpfull and stated unless I can prove my dog is being used for dog fights there is nothing they will do, I even stated that i am ringing for all of dog owners who have had theres taken not just Maddie but not interested unless cruft winner or they are being used for fighting. How did he think this made me feel to think of my baby girl being used to fight, its not bad enough she has been taken. I have sent 2 emails to them which they confirmed had been received but got no courtesy of a reply. Even if it was a no, to say he worked at a paper they should know how to use tact. I feel like writing a letter of complaint just hope he has no pets that ever go missing or get taken. On a brighter note and to be a bit more positive I have spoke with the examiner and they are coming back to me this afternoon. Hopefully with some good news. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amanda-yes I spoke to the other lady last night who has had her Staffy stolen as well-surprised to hear another 3 have gone from your area! The lady will get me the details-I think it is time that all owners with missing Staffies got to gether-Just look at the amount going on this website alone!!It is definately the number one dog to be stolen! We have got to get more publicity on this. Maybe a press release to the Nationals?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well still searching, I put her in the examiner paper for Huddersfield and I had a call from a lady who has alos had her Staffy taken on the 9 of feb, she asked if I would be prepared to go to the papers and if we could get as many owners as possible together they are more than likely to help. Of course my answer was yes, she has contacted the examiner I have contacted the Evening Courier to see if they will help. Will advise outcome of this as soon as can. Any dogs lost in area I am going to try and get hold of owners to see if they will also help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My staffy Brandy went missing the same day as Maddy and I have been thinking about you. I still have had no sightings and it is like she has vanished into space. I am not giving up though and remain hopeful and you need to as well. RegardsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep at it, I feel for you because I lost my staffy for a while. Keep the posters going up and keep on at the police and dog wardens, the police have no idea from 1 day to the next what dogs they do have. Maddy IS about somewhere and will return, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
