apparently the South Wales Argus are going to be doing an article on her. I am really annoyed about it all as it seems I won't actually ever get to see her nevermind have her in my home where she belongs.
wundressww
I have had a photo of her sent to me if anyone wants to see it. I'm not sure how to upload it to the profile.

Thank you all and thank you to the kind people who helped put posters up all that time ago. I wish vets did have to scan new animals routinely.

It seems that my ex will be keeping her so I haven't had the chance to see her yet-he's just kept me updated. I would have liked her myself but his name was on the chip so he's decided to keep her. Bittersweet really but I'm so relieved she's safe and well. Apparently her temperament is as lovely as ever!

Blimey Corali, how fantastic that you have Seren home, I remember her as she went missing the same time as my Maggie and you getting her back just proves that we should never give up hope. So very pleased for you both, have a happy life together and keep her safe
Fran Daly
What an amazing happy ending. If all vets were made to scan all new dogs which are registered with their practice then perhaps Seren may have been found earlier?

Email received: Dear DogLost

About four and a half years ago I posted on your site to say my dog Seren had gone missing. I listed her as an 11 month old Border Collie who went missing in NP19 in November 2007 (I think). She was microchipped and we thought she had been stolen. Someone called about a year later saying they had seen her in another part of the city. Unfortunately a search of the area was fruitless.

I thought you may like to hear that on Friday last week my ex-partner received a phone call from a vets in another part of the city to say they had his dog! They had scanned her chip and used the contact information to let him know that she was safe. It seems she has been cared for by someone for at least part of the time as she is in good condition apart from being thin. She was found by the railway tracks and a kind passer-by handed her in to the local vets.

I can't believe she has been found after all this time. I thought other people may want to know that the unlikely can really happen and that every dog owner should get their beloved pet microchipped.

Best Wishes

Seren would recognise you though, if not visually immediately, definately by smell. Have you started scenting near the area she was last seen?  I do hope this was her and you get her home soon. Good luck.

also Seren would now be about 15 months old now.  I couldn't say for sure that I'd even recognise her myself!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi thanks Jayne Only just got both of your phone messages.  I'm not able to get out there tonight but possibly tomorrow and will try and rope in one of my friends too. I got the phone call from the man called Jamie last Thursday about 6pm but by the time he had rung 20 mins had passed since he saw her.  I drove around there straight away but saw no stray dogs at all.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have updated Serens details as they were distorted by the hack we had back in May. How far away is this from where Seren disappeared? I will ask Majorjet to do some updated posters/flyers If you like give me a call and I can come around with you to look for Seren-dont think tonight is a good idea because of the weather.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We had a phone call last weekend from a young man saying he had seen Seren in Newport near the Toby Carvery on Chepstow Road.  I couldn't understand the name of the exact road but apparently the dog had a bad leg. I drove around the area and asked some residents but noone had seen her and I did not manage to sight her either. If anyone in that area has seen a stray dog who could be Seren please contact us with as much info as possible or call the rspca to the scene as we would have a much better chance of reuniting dogs with owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately she is not insured. We were about to insure her when she got ill earlier in the year and we decided to put the insurance on hold and forgot about it after that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Wundress. Is Seren insured? It's just that most pet insurance policies cover advertising costs should your dog go missing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Thanks MollyW! I have so far contacted two radio stations as far as the media goes but I don't know whether either of them broadcasted my messages. I have looked at putting an advert in the local paper but its expensive. I will have to leave my partner in charge of trying to get the paper to run a story or something as I am studying in Germany this year and I was only back on holiday in Wales when she disappeared! thanks everyoneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Greylady
Yes please Molly W, it would be great if you could put up posters, as it will all help to get Seren some publicity. Wundress are you able to get your local paper interested in Seren's disappearance? Collie's are tough little cookies so if she is out and about she will have found herself some warm to curl up, don't you worry!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have emailed pic of Herefordshire found dog to admin. We may have found her owner through the dog warden, but unable to contact her at the moment to confirm it's her - fingers crossed. Good luck to Seren's owner - I really hope they're reunited soon... I know we're a long way off, but I'm happy to poster the Welsh Border area if it might help...Hay-on-Wye, Abergavenny perhaps?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The Border Collie on Green Pages found in Herefordshire is not Seren. I am Seren's owner and MollyW emailed me pictures privately to check whether it is the same animal. Seren is chipped anyway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I believe we have the details of this found dog on our green section but not pic - anyone who can confirm the details on found are the same as the dog being discussed on this thread and could send pic to admin@doglost.co.uk? Thanks all, sianxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes she IS very similar to Seren. I hope her owner's reclaim her soon as she is gorgeous. Thanks for sending me the pix.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just emailed pix of the dog found in Herefordshire. She is very similar to Seren, but a lot fluffier - sadly, I don't think it is her. The dog we've found really is the sweetest dog ? very affectionate and gentle ? I think she?s had a lot of love. She is a thief though ? climbed on the kitchen worktops this morning and ate the butter from the butter dish and the bread from the bread-bin! She pulls hard on the lead and is easily spooked, but she wants to play. She has made herself a bed in the laundry basket. I hope she is reunited with her owner very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been a Border Collie advertised as found in the Herefordshire area and I wondered if it was possible to get a picture or more details as our Seren actually came from that area originally- a bit of a long shot but I wondered if someone might have picked her up and then dumped her as she is a bit of a handful!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You need to concentrate on the areas where the posters are being removed, keep replacing them. This could be a sign that Seren is in that area somewhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Thanks for putting up posters! I am still trying to cover the whole of the St Julians and Beechwood area. Unfortunately people keep taking the posters down. I'm worried that someone has taken her in but won't give her back. I have contacted the vets, police, warden, kennels, cleansing dept and local facilities but to no avail. I can't believe that Seren would be able to hole up over night in this weather. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters have now been put in various shops/bus shelters, by the park entrance on Chepstow Road (maindee to ringland) and in Tesco's at Spytty. I hope you find her safe and well very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
