Francisbone: Maybe for now if they could just speak with the boat owners before they move off, perhaps ask boat owners to log onto this page if not on the internet most people will have a smart phone
You could maybe get Posters printed in Devizes (if not at the Wharf shop)? try

Francisbone, have shared to my page and local community pages to include The Devizes Issue appealing for help with posters etc. Here is a link to the shop at The Devizes Wharf, it maybe they can help print posters and share. http://katrust.org.uk/contact-us/
Francisbone
They will struggle to get posters printed as they're on the boat. Only I can print them but I'm in Hampshire about 40-50 miles away:(

Odd no sightings....were there any other narrow boats in the area then.or since , maybe check them out , give them a poster , perhaps. try the locks at Devizes as boats will be waiting to go through the locks ,.up and down.
Lilybear
Have checked in with owners, sadly no news of Ronnie just now but they are overwhelmed with the support from the local community, everyone on the look out, a lady from the railways having checked the nearby railway track also.

I've just got back to Hampshire after putting up poster around the local area in Wiltshire. It's quite a trek. If anybody local is willing to print some more for my parents it would be greatly appreciated. They'll stay in the area between lock 53 and 54 for one more day. If anybody intends to pass through?? Thanks again for your help you've been amazing
DogLostReynard
Agree withg Skywalker99,- as gorgeous Ronnie has not been seen (I guess ) on tow path maybe he is lying low in one of those fields near by ... lets hope he makes his way back to the lock , lots of Posters are needed there and sorounding.
Good Luck xxxLast edited: 2017-05-30 18:29:16 by Reynard

Try leaving a poster at the Camping and Caravan club Site at Devizes. Many campers walk or cycle the towpaths.
Skywalker99
They need to leave something that smells of them/him near where last seen (dirty clothing, his bedding) also use their diluted pee to lay a trail....
Lilybear
Thanks, I've shared Jenny's links to owners and advice sheets but admit scenting is not something I'm totally confident on giving advice on. Owners are lovely, should anyone have time to share their wisdom would be so appreciated. Thanks v much
Skywalker99
If they are confident he did not go into the canal (I assume the lock was not emptying) it might be worth contacting Jenny and Tiga, www.k9tracker.co.uk. Have owners had scenting advice?

Thanks Skywalker99, as I understand it:

Owners were stood with Ronnie towpath side of Lock 53 Brimslade, their boat Lazybones was in the lock at high water. There was torrential rain. Ronnie hates water/rain and was seen to jump on board, last seen sat within looking out at his mum and dad through the window. Ronnie's dad recalls the nose of the boat swung across to the right, towards Lock cottage this would have allowed opportunity for Ronnie to jump off onto land. There are some steps up onto bridge alongside the lock keepers cottage. Had Ronnie taken this route he’d have lost sight of the boat and may have become disorientated/lost.
Owners consider had he jumped off their side they’d have seen him and he would not have wandered far.
They are fairly confident Ronnie did not go into the canal, they checked the lock soon after and several times since with no trace.
Skywalker99
Did he jump in the water or run off along the towpath?
Lilybear
Just spoken with Ronnie's owners, they've been searching, sharing news, sadly no sightings just now. Their son is arriving this evening with posters. The Royal Oak aware. Ronnie's canal boat is named 'Lazy Bones', please say hello if passing by. Ronnie is 2.5yrs, his chip details are up to date, all essential calls made. Ronnie come home safe now, you are so missed.
Francisbone
Thanks for all comments. Yes I'll check the phone when home tonight
