- It was on the wall of the row of smaller terraced houses at the edge of Evora Close overlooking Rightup Lane in Wymondham. To be fair, Katie didn't say it was definitely a Seresto flea collar, she said it was 'old fashioned and rubbery' and when I showed her a picture, she said she thought it was that, but she'd felt it through the fur, more than seen it. However, she described Charlie in every respect, which got me convinced that it was him she'd been feeding. But then she gave up smoking and didn't smoke outside, and she never saw him again after he'd been visiting for two months. I am so disappointed. And so is she, that she didn't pick him up and get him scanned when she had the chance. But she only saw my FB post a few weeks later, when she contacted me. x

- So sorry about the Wymondham sighting Sarah. Could you just remind me where the original cat with the collar so like Charlie's was seen? Those collars are not so common ... x

- Thank you Captain, that would be a brilliant idea. We're so lucky to have been featured. I should have said that the Wymondham sighting came to nothing. Original cat with the collar not seen again, and another cat, very similar, we eventually caught up with after nearly two months, but wasn't Charlie. It's been very disheartening.

- Charlie has been featured in an article in the Eastern Daily Press about missing cats in the Norwich area: http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/missing-cats-norwich-1-5447466
ADMIN, in view of this would it be possible to bump his page just in case ... ??Last edited: 2018-03-24 16:03:34 by Captain - 2018-01-06 16:09 SarahP
- The new sighting is still in this very tight area - Stanleys Lane as it connects with Silfield Road and Rightup Lane. If anyone knows of a resident cat in this area, it would be very helpful to know, so we can eliminate it and make sure it's not being reported as Charlie. Thank you so much for all your help x

- Owner has advised there has been another sighting this morning. Please, if you live in or know people in the NR18, Wymondham, Norfolk area, please ask them to keep vigilant and report any sightings/information to Charlie's owner x

- Hi SarahP.Thank you for your message in reply to my comment. It must be so frustrating for you but so pleased that you have proof Charlie is alive and well. Katie sounds like a nice person and reassuring that you have her there to keep you informed.I really do think it's just a matter of time that you will have Charlie back home with you after all the positive sitings.hopefully someone will be kind enough to get hold of him and keep him safe and contact you to collect him. I will look forward to seeing this page blue "Reunited' very soon! xx

- Hi Rosie, all good ideas and I would do all that, but we need a current confirmed sighting first. Katie came forward after seeing my post for the first time a few weeks after she'd last seen him. He was an infrequent, but regular visitor to her house, stopping by on a wall to eat food she put out for strays, and for tickles. However, when she stopped smoking a few weeks ago, she no longer sat outside in the evenings, so didn't see him. She's still putting food out, and he might still be coming to her house, it's simply she's not there to observe anymore, but she's alert now! He is such an unusual cat, and was wearing such an odd collar that when she saw the post, she knew it must be Charlie. She also talked about his extra long tail 'like a border collie'! Another possibly sighting of him in someone's kitchen stealing cat food, might mean he's moved along a bit towards Rothbury Park - which is small and more of a recreation ground really. I was there at dusk calling and rattling treats. He was wearing a radio tracker, but I couldn't pick anything up, which might mean it's dropped off or the battery has given up (they last about 6 - 9 months) or he's not in the area and it's not him. I've stuck posters up there and leafletted houses. It's an extensively developed area, teaming with other cats, and very difficult to negotiate. I'm planning to carpet bomb the area with more posters and leaflets to catch people who might not be on social media, but whose gardens / kitchens he visits. But, I welcome all the advice, and ideas. It's just that I've tried most things already, I'm afraid xx
- 2018-01-01 18:47 Rosie
- Is it possible for you to travel to the area with a family member/friend for safety where he has been fed by the lady and the park and go very early morning when it is quiet with a torch calling him? xx
- 2017-12-31 17:58 Unknown
- Okay., you could maybe try a trap without food inside, but if he is approachable maybe someone may be able to pick him up. Paws xd.
- 2017-12-31 15:25 SarahP
- Thank you so much for your advice. I have a trap, but until I have another sighting we can't be sure where he is again. Also, it's a heavily developed area with dozens and dozens of cats around, so I worry that a trap would simply catch other local cats. Also, Charlie is approachable and the person who reported him had stroked him, cuddled and he was happy with all that. (We are 99% certain it is him as she mentioned the odd rubbery collar he was wearing. We use Seresto flea and tick collars and that is a perfect description.) If someone sees him who knows we are looking for him, they would simply be able to pick him up.
- 2017-12-31 13:57 Unknown
- I think you pay a small donation for the hire of a trap.
- 2017-12-31 13:55 Unknown
- I would borrow a cat trap from Cat Protection or rescue centre, and place around the area he has been sighted. or if you have an idea where he has been taking food. Place something with his scent on, (And yours) inside the trap. And maybe a few treats. ~when he is home I would ground him for about a week or ten days at least or he may be off again. When he went awol it could be that he was chased out of his own territory, by a more dominant cat and became disorientated, and lost. It does happen. Hope Charlie is home soon. Paws xd.

- From Charlie's owner.....New sightings coming forward in Rothbury Park - connected by the gardens from original area and by a loke. He's begging food and coming in through other cat flaps and stealing! My Charlie? Perhaps he can be captured...

- Charlie's owner has posted this comment today on Facebook:
"My cat Charlie seen in WYMONDHAM NR18 !!! πΎπΎππ Exact description and wearing the same unusual grey rubbery collar! Sounds really possible. He's been visiting a garden to be fed off Rightup Road by the station for a few months, although not seen there very recently as the finder has given up smoking and no longer sits outdoors. Urgh! However, she'd still putting food down, so I'm hopeful he's still in the area, simply not being observed. Very skinny and matted now :(
If you live near there or have friends, please share, or mention that he's missing and not a stray if you can, please.
Off there today to speak with people, post leaflets and put up posters."

ADMIN, please, in view of this could email alerts be sent to helpers in NR18 post code area? - 2017-10-27 14:05 SarahP
- Thank you for the idea. I have thought about Pet Detectives, but they really need to start looking within a few days of the animal going missing. Because Charlie was wearing a Loc8Tor, I imagined that we'd find him very quickly as we have before -locked in a neighbour's barn - but sadly that hasn't been the case. He's been missing 6 long months now, and there would be nothing of his that would have a fresh scent for the PD dogs to follow. Cat's Protection have known since the beginning, and I've updated every couple of months. He's very distinctive, has an active microchip (we use a chip access only cat flap) and his profile has been very widely circulated. It's a total mystery what's happened to him, and we've followed every lead, however slim.

- Www.thepetdetectives.com have a cat detecting dog...not sure what it costs though. Have the Cats Prtection League been contacted in case he got picked up?
- 2017-10-25 11:48 Captain
- Charlie is still missing. There was a sighting of a very matted looking large fluffy tabby Charlie lookalike on Sunday 22nd October in Bramerton NR14 - very near Rockland St Mary - next village in fact - to where Charlie vanished. It may be that the sighting is of a similar looking cat living in the area, but it is in exactly the right place that Charlie might have moved into from the place in the summer where there where sightings in another village. Charlie's family and friends have been making enquiries and searching but it would be really helpful to get more sightings if possible so please keep sharing for him. ADMIN, would it be possible to bump Charlie's page in view of this and maybe reissue email alerts? x

- I really do hope this is Charlie and he will show himself again.
I have updated his info and added that he is neutered for you Sarah x - 2017-08-26 10:47 SarahP
- Thank you so much, Helen, for adding this comment. I'm so grateful to everyone still looking out for him. If it really is Charlie, he is getting closer to home from the flurry of sightings down by the Ferry Boat in Surlingham a few weeks ago. And, just to be clear (not sure how to edit above notes) he is neutered, as I think a few people thought he might be out looking for a mate.
- 2017-08-26 10:22 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- Possible sighting of Charlie last week (around the 17th of August) at the top of Grange Farm track on Surlingham Road.
- 2017-06-22 07:29 SarahP
- We've had a pretty reliable sighting near the Claxton end of the village near the pub - on the track towards Lamb's Court opposite the entrance to Green Lane. Unfortunately by the time I heard yesterday (21/6/17), this news was already 48 hours old, but I spoke to the person who saw him and she's certain it's the cat on the posters. It may not be, of course, but I'm hopeful. I've been down there twice, yesterday evening I dragged some smelly gym kit (!) all the way home across the tracks around the fields in the hope he might pick up the scent of us and follow it home. No sign of him this morning, though. If anyone from this site sees him, please, please contact me as soon as possible. Cold trails are hard to follow up. Posters with my phone number all around the village, pub and shop.

- Thanks for update.. I am not too sure either about the 4/7 garden spaces as said by "Cat experts" Probably depends on the cat. It`s said 2/3 garden spaces for a spayed female, of which I have two. And to be honest that is as far as they go. I read somewhere that it depends on the age of the cat (Territory) when they were neutered. Hope Charlie is found soonLast edited: 2017-06-04 18:36:24

- Really appreciate all your shares, tweets and comments. No, sadly, he's not back yet, although I have a sighting in fields behind the village we're near - off to check that very soon. Unlikely that he's got in a car. We didn't have any visitors for about 24 hours, and no deliveries either, and no one can park along the road - only on the track outside our house - no reason to park and leave a car open. But, I accept that anything can happen. He does have a large territory covering the whole of the water meadows beside our house, far more than what would equate to 4/7 garden spaces, but he checks back in every few hours or so, and puts himself to bed by 9 am every night - honestly, he is an amazing cat. I discovered he has a fan base at the Hall. Who knew! They love the way he keeps their moles down.
I'll reserve the cat trap idea when I've had some advice about that - maybe not in our very rural area, or only if there is a definite sighting and we can't get hold of him by other means. But thank you all. I'll keep you posted if we have developments. - 2017-06-04 13:16 caring4dogs

- Do you think he may have got into someones car, and that is why there is no signal from his Tabcat locater? If so maybe an ad in a National newspaper, in case he has "Hitched a lift"?
- 2017-06-03 22:12 Unknown
- Odd because neutered m ales only have a territory of about 4/7 garden spaces as to where they live. although you are more rural I know Have you thought of using a cat trap with food and his scent inside, not too far from his home? Do any of the neighbous have a dominant cat? Because sometimes they will chase a cat out of it`s own territory, however the cat usually returns within a few days Hope Charlie is hope Charlie is home soon. Paws xd.
- 2017-06-03 13:29 SarahP
- He is a neutered male. Never strayed before - a real home body. I've done all you suggest and much more. But thank you for the suggestions, Jane Jewel. We're a rural area with few neighbours. Everyone knows him, not feeding him. He's fitted with a TabCat locator which works to 30 ft. No signal has been picked up despite extensive searches. We've gone 2 miles wide leafleting and putting up posters. Done the torch thing all through the woods. Game keeper looking for him with bedding and his field trial dog.
- 2017-06-03 13:08 Unknown
- If un-neutered may have gone seeking a mate Presume all outbuildings checked? Put some tuna or chuicken in his dish, and call him; night/early morning is best. Rattle some treats too. Put his unwashed blanket into a clean container, along with something with your scent on too. Leave in the garden in a sheltered spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Empty contents of the vacuum onto the garden as his scent will be there. Wipe his scent on youe garden fences, gates, doors too; anything up to the garden. Walk around the area, holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some dreamies. Someone may bve feeding him (Common problem) Try a squeaky toy as it may attract his attention. If searching when darkness falls, take with you a strong torch as the light will reflect a cats eyes. Paws xd.Last edited: 2017-06-03 13:09:18
