- Other Info I am trying to find out more but this dog have not been caught. Just copied the below comments from FB. There has been posts about this dog since, being seen in Whitefields park in cheshunt. There are two people that have been trying to get the dog to safety but apparently just so nervous no one can get close enough without the dog running. I've looked out for him/her myself and many other locals have too by the comments on the post. Heart breaking.

- I too saw the "before" photo of Dodger - I agree that his neglect must have been ongoing for months by the look of him. It's really, really sad! I hope his abusers are found.

- Patlucky look at Last Hopes facebook age you will the pics on there so sad!
- 2017-07-02 12:14 Georgy Porgy
- It is heartbreaking news. Thank you so much to Last Hope for the love & care you gave him in his short time with you. RIP Dodger. I hope the RSPCA find & prosecute whoever owned him. Questions need to asked as to why he was 'reunited' as mentioned lower down on this page. Was he in a neglected state then? To get in this state would have taken some time. Also why remove from the vet when he clearly needed ongoing treatment & pain relief? As usual the rescue picks up the tab & the emotional heartbreak when it ends like this.

- 2017-07-01 13:39 Mary
- Thanks Patlucky. Watching the facebook video and seeing the healthy happy dog that Dodger was before he was given away by his owner, is absolutely heartbreaking.
- 2017-07-01 13:15 Patlucky
- Sorry Mary was about to come back and do that
A quote from the rescue below
We are heartbroken and devastated ; a few minutes ago dodger went to the bridge.
Yesterday when this boy arrived we were horrified by his condition, and immediately concerned with the many lumps covering his body. We took him to the vets within hours of his arrival, where test were run and medication prescribed. Dodger stayed with Lizzie White last night, but deteriorated rapidly over the last 12 hours, and was rushed back the the vets today; we had no choice but to do the last act of kindness, by helping him over the bridge. Myself and Lizzie held him tight and told him we love him as he went. We will ensure justice will be served for this broken boy. We cried into your lifeless fur, you are at peace now baby boy. - Sad news about Dodger I am afraid
The rescue he was in have just announced
I quote from the rescue
I am heartbroken to say that Dodger has gone to the bridge. He was so ill and in pain it was cruel to prolong his suffering. He was loved and shown kindness at the end. We could do no more for him - 2017-07-01 12:48 Mary
- How very sad but blood from the back passage was always likely to be a problem. Those who rescued him made sure he was cared for at the end and not alone. RIP Dodger. Shame on those responsible for causing this dogs suffering.
- 2017-07-01 12:42 Unknown

In the long term I hope Dodger makes a full recovery and can find it in his heart to start trusting people again. Fortunately not all of us are so cruel and heartless :(

- 71Ceri - thanks for taking Dodger to safety and delighted he is now getting vet attention. I truly hope he can find a happy home with someone who will love and take care of him. I have donated to help with his bills and care.
- 2017-06-29 21:38 Campion3
- 71Ceri so pleased Dodger is safe but very sad that he has had to endure such cruelty and neglect. Has your vet given any idea of how long his physical recovery will take. Concerned to read about the bleeding and hope the vet knows what the problem is. I will certainly make a donation.

- Unloved & unwanted probably passed from pillar to post I guess the future for this dog is pretty bleak poor thing .
- 2017-06-28 15:40 Mel
- Hardly dare ask the question regarding this poor dog, but has anyone got any good news on him; was just thinking about him. Xxx
- 2017-06-25 10:07 Patlucky
- I am not sure that is correct.
The dog was chipped to an owner yes
That owner gave the dog away 2 years ago and does NOT want it back
The dog was at the vets on a drip
No news and cannot find out what vet
- 2017-06-24 23:52 Juls
- Hope this poor dog is ok and safe , is his jaw ok x x
- 2017-06-24 09:51 Doglover
- Barann .from what I can understand, the dog warden took him from the Vets .
- 2017-06-24 00:37 Americanne
- From what I can see from Rayner's post, the dog was returned LAST Friday but was then on the loose after that. So it would appear it is a negligent (at best in my opinion) owner. Rayner caught him this week, and the dog warden wanted the RSPCA involved as a neglect case.
- 2017-06-23 23:36 barann
- Doglover, I thought a girl called Rayner had captured him and taken him to the vets? I am confused as to how he could of been reunited with owner if he was at the vets on Wednesday or Thursday of this week and if the RSPCA are involved surely they would not return to owner? I am so confused as to what is going on with this poor dog and feel very worried for his safety
- 2017-06-23 21:10 Shelagh
- Hollieberry re reunited comment. A lady saw dog on Friday ,and phoned Warden! She took photo above. She waited ore than an hour for Warden and then had to leave for school run. She left dog in same location with another lady watching it!When she returned everybody had gone including dog! She was told by somebody local the dog had been returned to owner. !!!! Have no way of confirming this!
- 2017-06-23 18:03 Doglover
- Patlucky....very very sad xxx
- 2017-06-23 16:03 Patlucky
- This dog was on a drip this time yesterday
Then as if by magic he got better ha ha warden then picked the dog up
Vets only do what they have to as that's what they get paid for (Pain relief only)
If I were a vet that dog would still be on a drip
Then someone said the vet still had the dog (not confirmed)
As it is the weekend I feel by Monday this dog will be PTS
I so hope I am wrong but it happened to a dog found a few months ago
It makes my blood boil
The reason we are not getting information is the RSPCA are involved
They are a closed bookLast edited: 2017-06-23 16:04:14 by Patlucky - 2017-06-23 15:24 Hollieberry
- Yes I'm very worried too ,also very puzzled as to the reunited comment on Friday .
- 2017-06-23 15:16 Patlucky
- I just get a horrid feeling about all this
I so hope I am wrong - 2017-06-23 15:15 Patlucky
- If a rescue could take this dog
There is NO reason he cannot do the 7 days in the rescue
Unless warden run places get a big buck from it of course
It should be for the welfare of the dog 100% - 2017-06-23 08:17 Doglover
- I will pray for this one and hope he does make it to rescue and then finds a forever and loving home. x
- 2017-06-23 07:12 Unknown
- Although rescue space is offered he has to do 7 days then will be passed to the rescue. Not a great scenario but at least he is off the streets and has food and water.
- 2017-06-22 21:38 Patlucky
- This dog deserves better treatment than what it is getting
It deserves food love and a warm bed .
Why oh why does no one want to help this dog
I don't understand what is in some peoples minds - 2017-06-22 20:14 Hollieberry
- I can not believe I am reading this a rescue was prepared to take him.
- 2017-06-22 19:43 LH
- Have to agree with Patlucky. It would surely be best for him to go to his secured rescue space???Ideally though a foster to get him on the road to recovery.
- 2017-06-22 19:20 Patlucky
- Iam absolutely disgusted this dog was on a drip today and it looks poorly yet the vet has passed him to the warden.( what sort of vet does this )
Answer a very uncaring vet
Can you believe it I feel sick at the moment this dog needs carefully feeding and a foster not this
God knows what will happen now the RSPCA is involved
God give me strength

- Update: Dog has been on a drip, received flea treatment and has eaten a little! He is now with dogwarden!!!!!!! Rspca are involved as it is a cruelty case! I have been informed that this dog was reunited on Friday! I cannot confirm who by as info is from people who I don't know personally!!!!I really despair sometimes at the logic of people! I pray sweet boy can make a full recovery and get to a rescuexxxx

- He is at vets on a drip as won't eat? He is in a bad way. Please all say a prayer to whichever God you believe in or St Francis patron saint for animals! He has suffered so much already I'm sure he can pull through with positive thoughts and prayers.

- Well done all involved, glad to see he is safely caught now, hope he can be treated & make a full recovery x
- 2017-06-22 15:11 Doglover
- I added this dog onto a group as requested now by Shelagh and a young girl, having picked her children up from school, bought a BBQ and went to area where this poor dog was...Her name was Rayner Bryant and she was amazing in catching him. She took him to Vetsnwhere he is now and I know Shelagh will update with outcome as she will know before me. Well done to Rayner Bryant for her patience and expertise xx
- 2017-06-22 11:27 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- Well done to all involved in catching this poor dog. It doesn't look as if he found it easy to eat. Whatever the outcome this poor dog is safe for now. Some !!!**** owners!
- 2017-06-22 11:08 Crisp
- The dog is currently at the vets being assessed as he is not in a good way - we do have a rescue space for him if he is able to be treated. Will update when I have further news.

- Thank god for wonderful people who caught this dog. Hope his jaw can be mended
- 2017-06-22 10:54 Kat
- "I gave him away" that old chestnut. Cheshunt isn't a huge place and they must know who they gave him to. Well done for getting him safe.
- 2017-06-22 10:38 nicolapicola
- Bravo all - such a relief - now he can have a decent meal (so THIN) and I do hope he can be brought back to health and find a proper, loving home.
- 2017-06-22 10:26 Unknown
- Well done Shelagh and spotters. Do we know anything about his jaw
- 2017-06-22 10:08 LH
- Poor lad - sounds like he's been passed from pillar to post. Let's hope he's ok and can find his forever home with someone who will truly love him!
- 2017-06-22 09:59 Shelagh
- It seems "owner" gave him away two years ago!!!! It looks like he was out before and was reunited! I believe that was when he was reported to us. We do not know how long he has been out this time as person who he was given to has made no report of him missing! The vet is examining now! If he is ok he has a rescue space and hopefully will get the home he deserves. I will update with news from vet when I have it.
