- Update: apparently LK (who took Daphne to the vet) had seen a man walking with Daphne in Church woods. She recognised her and asked him about her saying she'd seen her as lost on Fbk. He admitted she was not his and when LK called Daphne by her name she came running straight up to her. Quite a brave thing to do so definitely lucky that Daphne was found. Poor dog stank of cigarette smoke so he must have had her overnight which would explain why no other sightings reported after 5.15pm. Am not sure what the man's intentions were but think he wanted to keep her as her tag had been taken off her collar.
Should have said thanks to all who shared and helped look for Daphne yesterday and today in the rain. Great job done by you all. Just one more request that anyone who sees posters up please take them down! - Just had text to confirm that Daphne is back with Vickie and she is taking her home to her Dad who I am sure will be thrilled.
Reunited photo to follow when they are back together!
Well done and many, many thanks to LK who found Daphne and did it by the book taking her to the vets to check for microchip etc.
I'm sure Vickie will update us when she has a chance :)
I've added the reunited photo now (you may have to refresh/reload this page to see it) Last edited: 2017-08-02 14:43:38 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2017-08-02 13:22 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- I think Daphne has been found by someone and taken to the vets. I've just called Vickie to let her know and she is calling them now. I've got everything crossed!!
Update: Vickie is on way to vetsLast edited: 2017-08-02 13:41:31 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2017-08-02 12:34 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks for doing that Janine. I'm keeping fingers crossed Daphne stays safe and shows us where she is sometime today.
I've told someone I know who has a dog walking service about Daphne and he will keep a look out for her in the woods. Not a good day for searching as it's getting wetter by the minute.
Looking at the direction Daphne was heading yesterday it looks as though she could end up in the top end of Alexandra Park. Some of the park (by reservoirs) is closed off but it would be worth searching the rest of the park and making sure that lots of posters are up.
Just to add that Dog Wardens and vets in the area are aware of Daphne being missing. Last edited: 2017-08-02 12:40:16 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2017-08-02 12:17 janine
- I have been working in the grange road area, kept a look for her but no sightings. I drove up to the ridge after that and down towards hoads wood road to my next job , nothing there.

- Good to see that there was another sighting and to know what time it was.
The most important thing to do is to get as many posters up as possible so that you get another sighting. That way you should be able to work out which sort of direction and area Daphne is in. The weather is going to deteriorate today so it's likely that (if she does not like the rain) she will hole up somewhere out of it.
Please keep us updated and I hope Daphne is found very soon.
PS I have double checked re the dog last night and it had a completely brown face with white on neck so definitely not Daphne.Last edited: 2017-08-02 11:31:47 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2017-08-02 09:29 Vickie
- Last sighting that could have been daphne was at 5:15 down Grange Avenue. A lady in the chemist saw a dog wondering about

- Thanks for your update Vickie. No, I'm sure it was not there either so have to think from a nearby house and owner had found it.
Well done putting up posters already. Hopefully Daphne will make her way back to your or your Dad's house b the morning. - 2017-08-01 23:22 Vickie

- Sorry for late post. Have spoken to Daphne's family and have sent out our Doglost advice emails. I also let them know about the dog on the A21 as soon as I saw the post on Hastings Dog Lovers page. I was going to collect it and scan for a microchip but I have just come back from where the dog had been laid and cannot find it (despite speaking on telephone to lady who placed it there) So someone has either got there before me and hopefully taken/will take to be scanned or the owner has found it. Not much more I can do for that one.
Daphne was lost from Chanctonbury Drive but lives in Boyne Road so it's possible she could make her way back to either household. Imbetween is St Helens woods so she could also be in there. They have already taken their other dog out to see if they can find her but no luck yet.
Family are having problems printing posters but have put a couple up. If anyone can help with this (printing) it would be appreciated.
I'm hopeful that Daphne will make her way back either later tonight or by the morning. - 2017-08-01 23:09 skye
- I've copied the post I know she's black and white. They say this dog is brown and white.
Anyone in the Claremont area own a big brown and white collie sadly it was hit by a car 20 mins ago my daughter has lifted it out of road sadly the dog is dead she laid it under the trees Sainsbury's side of Claremont school she saw a car hit it but the car drove off without stopping - 2017-08-01 22:49 skye
- I've just seen a post on FB saying that a large collie had been hit by a car in Hastings,Near Sainsburys. It maybe worth checking it out. Hopefully it's not Daphne.Last edited: 2017-08-01 23:01:20 by skye
