- As doglady has already mentioned, well done to Moochie who was responsible for emailing a copy of Pepper's poster to the Bath Cat & Dogs Home way back on 21st Dec, to the wonderful Countrymans Weekly who, as Jayne has said, are behind so many of the Reunited successes and also to Kim McGarva, the lovely local DW who, I know, was on Pepper's case. And finally (this is begining to sound like a wedding speech!), I also agree with what doglady has said about feeding Pepper little and often, as her tummy would have shrunk in the time she has been away from home, plus she would have been surviving all sorts of rubbish. I bet she's now curled up all cosy in her nice, warm, comfortable bed, catching up on her beauty sleep... sweet dreams Pepper xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I agree Jayne funny that I wounder if she became to hot. Good the owner will try and get on to the sight to become a helper. I bet she will enjoy that bath and some dogs are good about hoping into the bath, and I bet she will enjoy her meals little and often until tummy settles down. It will not belong and a lot of TLC she will be back to normal. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have just spoken to a VERY happy owner!!! Pepper's family had a call from Bath Cats & Dogs Home at around 2.30pm this afternoon. Pepper was taken in to the Home early this afternoon (I believe a DW was involved and so wonder whether it was Kim McGarva). Pepper is very skinny and smelly and is minus her posh pink collar (I wonder how she got that off all by herself?!). Naturally they are delighted to have her home. She has tucked into a nice meal and is due to have a bath. Pepper's Mum thanks EVERYONE who helped to bring this girl home and said that she would be happy to help in the future (providing she can access the DL site!). She has promised that Pepper will be chipped and tagged very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

In the 'words' of my Milly - woo woo woooooo! Of course, one BIG REQUEST, could this very precious girl have a chip AND a tag on her pink collar (was she still wearing it?) as a welcome home present? I presume that the publicity/postering may have made Pepper too hot to handle and so she was released by whoever had her. I'm also so happy for her young companion! - Yes I agree doglady. There are some fabulous ideas being put forward here as well as some very practical offers of help from some extremely willing DL volunteers. What we need is an update from Peppers mum please. I understand and appreciate the difficulties you have had with logging on here, and there are steps afoot to sort out the problems. In the meantime, the idea put forward to email an update to admin@doglost.co.uk was a very good one. So, Peppers mum can you let us know what is happening please? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Pepper's 'Mum', Don't know whether you are reading these posts or not but just keen to know the latest news: any calls, sightings, info, where you have postered this weekend, etc. I tried to call you on the landline number you gave me, without success (maybe I took it down incorrectly) & so have sent you a text message. I don't tend to use my mobile very much & so the best way to contact me is via my home number (which you already have) or via a Doglost! Hope no news is good news?! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I agree 100% with doglady. Personally, I feel QUITE CERTAIN that whoever has Pepper is 'holding out' and just waiting for a reward to be offered, which is why it is SO VERY IMPORTANT that Pepper's poster is updated and that any posters that haven't been used are are over-written with the word REWARD!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- OK Peppers Mum if you are having problems in getting posting on here, I understand that helpers have been in contact, For you to get this lovely girl back a number of us are thinking may be they are waiting for you to say there is a reward for the safe return of the dog, now if you have got dog insurance they may be able to help with this. this is got to be worth a try, otherwise you may not get anywhere. Please try and get a member of the family or a friend to help you with posting. there is only so much we can do but if we do not get feed back from you how hands a tied. - Hi Pepper's Mum! Any news? Are you reading these posts? As you are having problems logging on to Doglost, an alternative way to update us would be to send an 'ordinary' email to Admin@doglost.co.uk and they will copy and paste it as a post on Pepper's page. Or, you could just telephone them with an update (obviously email is the better option). As we constantly say on DogLost, it really is most important that we know what is being done and what is still to be covered. Believe me when I say keeping up regular contact with this site is the best way of making sure the Helpers remain motivated and interested which will help to bring Pepper back home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just about to got out 'down the pub' but before I go I wanted to ask whether you wanted DogLost to add to Pepper's poster that you are now offering a reward (did you speak to More Than?) as this often encourages people to come forward. If you've already printed off posters/mini-posters add the word REWARD! with a nice, thick (runproof!) marker pen. Please call Admin or send them an email if you want them to alter the poster (advisable, I would say). Thanks doglady for finding out the address for Bath & North East Somerset Council - perhaps, if someone lives nearby or is going into Bath, they could 2/3 posters in for the Dog Warden.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Pepper's 'Mum' Hope you will read this. Firstly, Admin believe the problems you are encountering logging in is possibly something to do with your computer settings. Do you have someone local who could help you with this? Have you heard from Keelah (aka Sian), as you mentioned you needed to speak to her about the nasty responses to the Bath Chronicle article? Also, I have made the calls to the Street Cleansing dept at Bath Council. They have taken Pepper's details and logged the fact that she is still missing (they have given me a customer reference number). The good news is that they haven't removed any deceased doggies from the streets of Bath during the time Pepper has been missing. I also spoke to Network Rail and gave them details (once again, I have a reference number). They said the information would be forwarded to the relevant office, which is Swindon. It would appear that you live quite a distance from the railway lines and/or station. Is this correct? Did you speak to your pet insurers about the reward/cost of advertising, etc? The very helpful person I spoke to in the Street Cleansing dept at Bath Council transferred me to Kim McGarva, the Dog Warden. As you had already contacted her, she knew all about Pepper. She did say that the Council website would not allow her to access the DogLost site! She would like a poster or two of Pepper to display. I did try to send a copy to her work email address but it was blocked! Am I being pathetic - why couldn't I send it? I have offered to send posters in the mail once I have received her work address but can someone get copies to her sooner? I presume she is based at the Council's offices (wherever they are!). Kim had seen Pepper's article and had kept a copy in her files. As she knows the area well, she suggested postering ALL blocks of flats in the Fox Hill area (perhaps a mini-poster through each door?!) and said, if those posters placed outside are being removed, just keep replacing them. When we were looking for Samson, our missing Staffie, we placed posters in plastic walllets (with the opening at the bottom - can also seal them with waterproof sellotape) and I bought some LARGE, stout drawing pins and used around 8/10 per poster. It mostly worked because passing morons couldn't just rip them down as they walked past. Others on this site swear by gaffa tape (sp?) top and bottom and wound all around the trunk or post (of course, all these need to be removed once Pepper is back home). I think that is all - apologies for the long post. Any other ideas? Pepper's 'Mum', you have my home telephone number - give me a call if you need me. Hope this weekend brings you the news you are waiting for. Come on pretty girl with the beautiful pink collar, show your lovely face PRONTO!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Peppers Mum you are getting a lot of good advise and a lot of good advise from Milly's Mum. if the insurance is going to help with the advertising make sure you get plenty of this. Have you ask your neighbors if they see anyone that day or before hanging around when she was taken from the garden. is there anyway she may have got out herself? Keep making Pepper hot and this will help her get back. also look on sight like GUMTREE trying to sell a Rottie, and also if you have local parks get some of your relatives to go with you in the evening time do not go alone to seek out the local youths as a lot of dogs get sold on in Parks. Keep your chin up and keep focused and you will get the result that we all want. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- A message for Pepper's Mum: I have checked out your pet insurance cover with More Than via their website & the good news that it would appear that you ARE covered for costs involved in your search for Pepper (including a reward!) but you need to speak to them to agree how much BEFORE you proceed. I have got the details here if you need them. It says that you must contact the police. Have you already done this? You will need a crime number from them. Also the policy goes on to say that you have to show that you have made the right efforts to find her i.e. to call vets, rescues, dog wardens, etc (which you've already done). Check with More Than but I presume you just need to provide them with a list containing names, addresses, contact tel. nos. Give them a call asap. Good Luck!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Right, I have spoken to Pepper's Mum today and her is an update First of all, she has registered but is having problems logging in to post (which she is keen to do). She is able to access DL & has read ALL messages and is VERY appreciative for everyone's help and support. Please, can someone in Admin help her to activate her account? She, her partner, family, friends and neighbours have distributed around 400 posters but surprinsingly she has not had one call or sighting of Pepper. She has done all those places we have suggested i.e. pubs, posties, sorting office, schools, supermarkets, takeaways, parks, shops, cabs/cab offices, scrapyards, etc. She is going further afield over the weekend and will target more scrapyards. She will also cover 3 local hospitals. She would love any local help if any Helpers are able to spare some time. She is finding it difficult to remain positive but is quite determined to find Pepper as her 7 year old son asks several times a day when 'his' Pepper is coming home. This is just so sad - we must help to get the lovely Pepper home and make a little boy very, very happy. I will call the Council and Network Rail tomorrow, just in case. She desperate for any further ideas. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Pepper's family! Any news on lovely Pepper? Have you requested any of the mini-flyers from Admin? Are you able to visit pubs, both near and far? Unfortunately, they often turn out to be the best place to visit. Like jia did with Jasmin, print off loads (around 300 or more) mini-posters & have them printed onto brightly-coloured paper (as I said previously, BRIGHT orange worked for us!) and hand these out to everyone. By visiting pubs and speaking to the regulars/customers who will have lots of local contacts & will be a mine of information, you will cover a lot of people all congregated in one place. So many of our lost dogs have been traded on via pubs (and then reunited) you really cannot afford to miss this opportunity. Where is your nearest large town - is it Bath? I understand it may be difficult with your 7 year old son to look after but, if so, I wondered whether family, friends or any local DL Helpers could cover the pubs for you. Another brilliant place (as Greylady has already mentioned) are supermarket car parks, placing the mini-posters on car windsreens. Once again, you can cover alot of ground in quite a small area. Also, are there any travellers' sites close by as posters need to be put up near to places like this? Your local Council should (or may) have a Travellers' Liaison Officer who may be able to advise you on the best course of action. Hope it won't be long until you receive the call you are waiting for. Come on Pepper, show your pretty face!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Double RIGHT! That's one SW Rottie girl back home today and now it's Pepper's turn! Hope the story in the Daily Western Press gets people on her case. But, as Greylady has said, print off the mini-posters from the Info Centre and GET OUT THERE. As has been said before, they don't have to be printed in colour (if this is a problem) but as an alternative print them in black & white onto BRIGHT orange (or a similar bright coloured) paper. Visit all pubs near and far. Try to go at lunchtime or early evening when it is less busy. Ask the manager to display Pepper's Missing poster in the pub and speak to as many of the regulars/customers as possible and give out the mini posters to just about everyone you come across. Believe us, when we say, you really can't put up too many posters!!! Just make sure your Pepper is the hottest Rottie in town. Good Luck and I look forward to seeing her in the Blue alongside Jasmin.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Right!! Jasmine is back today, safe and sound, so Pepper where are you?!! Jasmines people have been very active putting up posters and handing out flyers in the local area ~ literally hundreds yesterday and its paid off. We will get Pepper in the info centre (on the front page just above the Dollys Directive button) so please can everyone print some off and give them out in heavly populated places (including pubs and supermarkets) Jasmine's owner has been giving out posters of Pepper as well as Jasmine, and will continue to do so, so if she is in the same area then she will be found. We are having a good success rate down here in the SW so keep the poster pressure up peeps, 'cos its working!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My friends Rottie wears a pink collar similar to Pepper's and it makes them look much more huggable. Not in your area but watching this case with interest. Really hope you get a breakthrough soon. Have the details been given to the dog papers, Dog World and Our Dogs? Contact either the editors or the breed note writers. (Will do Our Dogs breed note writer for you).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Great that Pepper's missing story will feature in the local press. She's a lovely looking girl and I hope that she will be back at home with her worried family very soon. Also wish the same for Jasmine the Rottie, missing from the Salisbury area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Does Pepper have a full tail, or is it docked. I have friends in Bridgwater who have 3 Rotties, 2 with tails and 1 docked, will ask them to look out for Pepper and Jasmin . They would notice any new Rotties apearing in their area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Know its not much help, but visited Peppers details as already looking for Jasmin(e). This does seem to be a trend - Bath to Salisbury is not all that far, 2 rotti bitches stolen from a garden. This is worrying, it must be someone who knows the breen and is used to handling big dogs, as so many people are scared or Rottis. Is it worth trying to get the police involved? Also all the local rotti clubs, breeders etc need to be made aware, lets hope if we can come up with enough ideas and put enough pressure on these B*****ds that these 2 lovely family pets will be home safe soon. Sorry, its not really anything constructive - but hopefully someone can contact the local clubs etc, if not done already.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Any news of Pepper? We are all keen to hear the latest news about your girl. I have just posted a lengthy message on Jasmine (the Rottie's) page which you might find useful/helpful. Please, if you are having problems accessing your account, speak to one of the DogLost Admin staff who will talk you though it. Keeping everyone updated and letting us know where you have postered, really is paramount in helping us to help you get Pepper home. PLEASE tell us what is happening and whether you have had any sightings or received any info about Pepper. P.S. She looks absolutely beautiful, especially in her pretty pink collar!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thats a great idea doglady, but sadly the local paper doesn't cover both areas, as they are quite some distance apart in "papers" terms, but not in dog theft terms if you know what I mean. Come on Peppers mum I have left you lots of messages, and people here are eager for news, so maybe you can update us with how you are getting on? The Bath Chronicle ran an article this week on Bosun the staffie missing from Saltford, so I feel sure they will help you with Pepper. Please let us know!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- May be Jia and Peppers owners can get the local paper to do story on both dogs and also about your children missing them. this would go a long way with the papers when kids are involved. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
