Well Done for the effort you put in to getting this dog to safety. Hope the owners have taken heed of the warning they will have been givenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done Rottiesnstaffs. What a pity there are not more responsible rotti owners out there, (I do know that the irresponsible ones are in the minority). My friends have 3 Rotties, and they are beautiful and well behaved. It's not the dogs that are bad, it's the owners lack of thought and training.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a call from a friend of mine who said a rottie pup had attacked her friends dog, they had hold of it and could i come get it as they didnt want to try and put it in the car as it had growled at them. It was no pup, it was bigger than my rottie! He had no collar, tag and was only wearing a harness with rusted studs. He kept jumping up at me and my friend but he decided he didnt like her as much as he did me so after he lunged at her i told her to stay in her car and i would take him to the vets on my own. I nick-named him Brutus and got him in the car to go to the vets to scan for a chip. He was extremely boisterous but loving with it and had no idea of how to walk on a lead. When i told him to sit he looked at me as if i were mad! I spoke to him with a more stern voice and then he did sit but then refused to go anywhere! The vet checked him for a chip but there wasnt one so off to the police station. He refused to get into my car and no amount of coaxing was working. I was parked on a double yellow outside the vets. After 20 mins of this i decided there was nothing else for it and i would have to walk him through the town centre on a busy saturday afternoon and knowing he had no trainging on how to walk on a lead. It was not easy. I was trying to keep him away from people so walked near the kerb, a bus came by and he tried to attack it. I cant count the amount of times i told him 'NO' or 'LEAVE'. As we got to the police station there was about 15 people in the waiting area waiting to be seen. I walked in with 'Brutus' and everyone walked out!! lol! It was the quickest way to clear a police station. Needless to say we were first to be seen. One police officer just walked right up to him and said 'Oh hello boy, you here again?'. I asked how he recognised him and he said he had been bought in the week before. I dont know if it was the same dog or not but they took him through to the kennels. I was waiting for the officer at front desk to take some details from me and she looked at me. I told her i wanted to give my details as the finder, which i did then i said that she should take some details of the dog i just bought in. She told me that how could ii know anything about the dog as i claimed i had just found it. I told her that i knew he was an entire male rottweiler, about 18 months to 2yrs old, no chip, no collar, no tag, only a rusty harness, the location and time he was found, didnt know how to walk on a lead, that he doesnt like other dogs and wants to eat busses!!! I expressed my concerns that if someone else bought in a dog would they leave as much detail as that and would someone bother looking in the incident book for details of the dog. I told them i would be getting back to them to find out what had happened with the dog. I felt as if i shouldnt be sticking my nose in once i had handed the dog over but hey, thats just another one of my qualities im afraid!!! I did make enquiries later on and he was reunited with the owner later the same day. I doubt they were given a telling off about owning a powerful dog and not even bothering to make sure he was tagged or chipped. Owner if you are reading this, please feel free to contact me for advice on responsible dog ownership!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
