- What a lovely text to get from owner when I woke up this morning! Phoned them to get the story.
They had camped out all night watching the trap. They were packing up to go back to apartment & heard barking in the distance, but saw a man & assumed he had a dog with him. They got back to apartment & Lucy was there waiting in the garden, she had sneaked back in through the fence she got out from & was waiting for them to come home :) I am doing happy dance & so is most of Cornwall. The shares on fb have been amazing.
Michelle would like to thank everyone who helped in whatever way they did. She said the support has been amazing. They are going to catch up on some sleep & enjoy their last couple of days holiday.
Thank you to all our local helpers who went down to help & poster & generally keep a look out & support Michelle, you are all stars xx - 2017-08-31 08:03 collie
- Very relieved owners!!

So pleased for this family
Welcome back Lucy xx - 2017-08-30 23:03 Sadie
- I looked around the area of The Rock Pool Cafe today but no sign. Will take my two cocker spaniels down there tomorrow and walk the dunes between The Rock Pool Cafe, Churchtown Farm Campsite and Sunset Cafe.
- 2017-08-30 21:24 Baydogs
- Jan, thanks for the offer of a tent - one was sourced locally. Thanks Mark :) Lucy's owners will at least be dry and warm now.
- 2017-08-30 21:21 Baydogs
- LH and JulieH ...all positive thoughts from any part of the country are welcome! The owners are trying so hard to find her.
For those looking locally- when Lucy was last seen she was still wearing her pink harness. She is also quite a dainty Bichon, smaller than the average, weighing less than 5kg.
Good luck tonight Michelle x - 2017-08-30 20:31 JulieH
- Fingers and paws crossed up in Yorkshire for good news x
- 2017-08-30 20:08 Jan

- Anyone local got a pop up tent ( preferably green) that they can lend owners for tonight & maybe a couple of nights please? So they can sit out in the dry?
- 2017-08-30 15:41 LH
- I'm at the other end of the country almost but am checking in constantly - I sooo want Lucy to be found!
- 2017-08-30 15:07 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- A cat trap has been borrowed from Cats Protection, it will be set up tonight & owners will be watching it. They will bait it with some smelly food. Paws crossed.
Come on Lucy, time to go home xx - 2017-08-30 11:41 Unknown
- aw good luck xx
- 2017-08-30 11:09 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Baydogs has very kindly offered the use of her trail cam. Have messaged owner with another approach to try tonight. We have also sourced a cat trap & owner will hopefully be able to pick it up & use that in another location too.
- 2017-08-30 09:57 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- There was another sighting of her yesterday in same area, rear of Sandbank apartments on path in dunes) & also near to cafe (possibly this morning, owner got a confused message). They are going out again & have been out since 5.30am this morning.
- 2017-08-29 22:12 Cathy
- Atlantic Coast have printed posters for the owners and displayed them. We've been out looking for her yesterday and today also telling people we meet and leaving our address and phone numbers. Really pleased there's been some sighting of her, at least she's surviving. Hope she's back with her owners soon. Last edited: 2017-08-29 22:13:16 by Cathy

- I maybe able to come over tomorrow morning but more likely to be Thursday. What needs to be done? Postering or searching the area?
- 2017-08-29 20:26 Baydogs
- Have had another scout around this eve and told loads more residents, regular walkers and tourists who will also share on FB.
Rain forecast from about 4am until about midday tomorrow so she'll probably bunk up somewhere until then if she's not caught tonight.
Hoping the BBQ does it's magic. - 2017-08-29 19:41 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Owner has just informed me they have had a drone out today ( someone local), with no luck. They are having a BBQ tonight. If anyone is able to have a walk around & keep a look out, that would be great please.
- 2017-08-29 17:53 Sadie
- I'm available to help tomorrow in any way I can, just let me know. Have you considered using a drone?
- 2017-08-29 14:14 Moogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
- I have sent info via Facebook to Sunset Surf Cafe, The Jam Pot Cafe & The Red River Pub. I have also requested they print off and display her poster.

- 2017-08-29 12:53 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Owner is out today postering & will have more posters tomorrow (GeoffA has done a lot & posted them to her)
jenny4, they have been advised to poster everywhere along there, which they are trying to do. We also are sending poster page via fb too, to all local business we can. - 2017-08-29 12:40 Unknown
- When I was down there we had a dog go missing, and although he went missing on the caravan side he was staying in the fields opposite, Maybe worth checking Also post in the Church area just before the cafe xx
- 2017-08-29 11:57 rosiedog
- Would love to help but not due in Gwithian till next Tuesday. I live in Devon.
- 2017-08-29 10:09 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- There has been a sighting (in distance), by owners husband this morning. Sadly Lucy was in full flight. She ran across the road towards the Godrevy Park caravan/camping site ( down a footpath). It is not known if she came back across road at all. Have advised owners to poster around there.
- 2017-08-29 10:04 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- rosiedog, owner is getting more posters done today so will be postering further afield. I have told her all those places need doing if she hasn't done so already. ( I have sent postesr via fb pages) Are you nearby to assist at all?
- 2017-08-29 07:51 rosiedog
- Have you postered the Sunset Surf Cafe, The Jam Pot Cafe & The Red River Pub ?
- 2017-08-28 21:16 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Nothing this evening. Owners getting more posters printed off tomorrow, as area needs to be flooded. So many people around today. I also met loads of dog walkers & passed on Michelle's number/details of Sandbank Apt's to let them know about Lucy. Hopefully she will be spotted again & be back soon.
- 2017-08-28 20:18 Baydogs
- There was also a possible sighting last night about 6.30pm on one of the paths by the wooded area (St Nicholas Close entrance, Upton Towans). Have informed Michelle's husband who was out there looking tonight and I've also spoken to Maxine....she was the other side looking re 1pm possible sighting mentioned below.
If both these sightings were Lucy it looks like she is trying to find her way back which is good news.
More walkers informed tonight. - 2017-08-28 18:32 GeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
- Maxine is on site and has been advised that there was a sighting around 1pm between Sandbank Apartments and Gwithian Towans, so that is where the search is being concentrated for the next couple of hours.
(Cathy - this may well be the same sighting that the owner made you aware of) - 2017-08-28 18:05 Cathy
- Owner just phoned to say a sighting of a small white dog had been seen between Atlantic Coast and the first car park up in the Towans. First sighting, owner hopefully we are going out to look asap.
- 2017-08-28 17:31 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Baydogs, am heading over there now to meet owner. I think she may have been going to visit John Hoskings farm today. Sadly I have no posters, as no access to printer ( library shut, my neighbour who does them for me is on hols ) Hopefully we may be able to get some more, or at least photocopy some. You have my number if you want to meet up.
- 2017-08-28 17:23 Baydogs
- Also Rob Lello's boatyard in Treeve Lane. Myriad of places a little scared dog could hide in there but might eventually be seen. Could even surface for a piece of pasty when the men eat.
- 2017-08-28 17:05 Baydogs
- Thanks Maxine. Have been spreading the word amongst locals who live in the neighbourhood and they will also pass the word on. As soon as I get some posters I'll be putting them about as well. I know they are closed today but has the block works (now called Maen Carne) been emailed do you know.....also Chris Lello's works in Treeve Lane. Perhaps all his drivers could keep their eyes peeled when they start again tomorrow...? If Lucy crossed the road from Sandbanks, she'd find herself in the fields that are sandwiched between the north coast and Connnor. There is also John Hosking's farm up the back tracks in this area. I'll have a look around the towans again tonight.
Hopefully someone kind has picked her up and is waiting for the vets to open tomorrow to see if she's chipped. - 2017-08-28 12:27 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland

- Know this area extremely well and have contacted Michelle offering help with postering etc. Will look at first light tomorrow and also spread the word amongst regular walkers and holiday makers.
Lucy is wearing a harness - not tagged, but she is chipped. Approach will need to be very cautious as Michelle has not had her for long and, as previously stated, she is a nervous little girl.
May approach other dogs to say hello.
Hope she is soon found Michelle.

- Thanks Cathy :)
rosiedog, I did fill out the link for Pirate fm too, for their lost pets section.
Owner is trying to inform the campsites there. - 2017-08-27 17:04 Cathy
- I've emailed the poster to Atlantic Coast Holiday Park and they're going to print it off in the morning and I've made contact with the owner and found out Lucy ran down the road towards Hayle but took a right turn, possibly into the quarry.
- 2017-08-27 12:28 rosiedog
- I would contact Pirate radio to broadcast, also contact Churchtown Camping site just down the road ( James & Sons).
There is also a caravan club site almost opposite Sandbanks. - 2017-08-27 10:33 GeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
- Poster image sent to Sandbank Holidays fb page asking if they can print some copies (owner aware). Atlantic Coast Holiday Park acknowledged my message from last night and said they will spread the word this morning.

- Owner Michelle, just arrived on holiday & Lucy escaped from the apartment. Been missing since about 6/7pm
Owner has contacted council out of hours service to register her as lost & I have given scenting advice over the phone. I have given her the number of local vets to ring & I will inform local radio stations.
