- A Black and Tan female mini dachshund was found today in Cheltenham, she has similar markings but was very underweight and had been in an accident. She is at the Cheltenham Animal Shelter, and it is worth checking. https://www.facebook.com/132348747221/posts/10161690512592222/

- I completely agree with your comments and if she has been taken along with one of the crates
it would be easier for the perpertrator to help to settle her.
Maybe get some leaflets printed also and I for one would be happy to distribute them, primarily in the Trimleys as I feel the area where she disappeared would be frequented more by locals with a knowledge of the area.

- Thanks for the suggestions. I really don't think she will be found by searching the area now after nearly 2 months without a sighting. However I think the idea of a newspaper add is good-in case someone has her and someone knows or sees something. I wonder if its significant that someone pulls down the poster on the stile by the railway track, possibly others too? It could just be someone who thinks posters are messy, but could it someone who knows something or has the dog, so they pull them down to reduce the publicity? One of the crates with her poster on was actually taken too. It might be nothing, but it does make me wonder?Last edited: 2017-10-19 11:41:27 by spiderkemp

- The wweather forecast is looking good for this coming weekend. Would it not be a good idea to get as many people as possible together and search for Penny? I would be more than happy to. There is a lovely story online where a missing dachshund was found safe in the Australian outback after being missing for a month. It may also be worth considering having a large ad, say a quarter or half a page in the East Anglian Daily Times about Penny being missing and also asking the question if anyone knows of anybody who has acquired a miniature dachshund within the last month. I`m sure that a lot of us would help you contribute to the cost of this. Hope this helps.

- Really don't know what else we can do. As well as physically searching (along with all the lovely local people who have been searching too), checked (as best we could )and called at all the rabbit holes we found; we have used a drone with a thermal camera. I regularly went out to Trimley (we live 30 mins away) at 5.30-6 am when it was quiet and cooked on a disposable barbecue to try to lure her out. We left her crate with her bedding in, and some of our clothes too. Despite this no sighting since the 28th August. If she has been picked up by someone and not reported, that would explain it. So would her being trapped down a hole. A friend did come out with her tracker dog, who wasn't specifically trained to track dogs, but the owner felt that if Penny was down a hole and we passed it, her dog would have shown interest, which he didn't. Don't know what else we can do at this point?

- Continuing to search the area, rural and residential. We have at various times left bits of clothing with our scent around the area she was lost, and her bedding in crates, but no further sightings since 28th August when a farmer said he saw her very close to where she was lost. Since no sightings since then I can only think she either got stuck down a hole (have tried to investigate all the rabbit holes etc that we have come across as best we can,) or if she was on the move on the 28th, then its possible someone may have been able to pick her up and has got her etc. I have been updating a facebook page 'Find Penny' as well.

- This is a good idea. It may be worth putting them in the area where she was last seen as she may respond to the scent on the item in the cage. I would feel inclined to do that without a sighting, It`s definitely worth a try?

- I think the idea of dog traps is a great one, but I think we need a sighting so we know where to place the traps as nothing since 28th August. She may not be in the area. If we get a sighting we will put traps out. It's possible someone may have her. We will keep searching. Thanks so much for your help.

- We go most nights to look for Penny, didn't know if this would be of any help but you can buy trap cages, it may be worth buying 5 or 6 and placing them in the area Penny went missing with an item of clothing you have worn for at least a day inside each of them. We would happily help check them each day, if you put just a bowl of water inside with no food other animals won't be attracted to the cagest - hopefully just Penny who will smell your scent

- Continuing to visit area Penny was lost in every day-at dawn when possible as that was when she was seen on 28th August. Dog tracker initially offered to come out but now can't come for 2 weeks due to vehicle problems, so don't know how helpful that will be at that point. Equally possible that someone has taken her in and not reported. Thanks to all who are looking-dint give up!

- Hi
For clarity, the last sighting of Penny was Monday at 6am, running along farm track in direction of Moreston Hall. Currently looking into use of thermal imaging camera. Thanks for all your help so far. - 2017-08-29 14:04 Chloef88
- Hi there, I am so sorry to hear about Penny! I keep sharing the post on facebook. I completely understand if you don't want to do any of these things, but we were in the same situation last year when we lost Teddie. I know how you feel. I wanted to share some ideas that we did, that brought him back. We placed items of clothing, worn socks, t-shirts- anything with you smell on- around the area he went missing. We also bought a disposable BBQ and cooked some really smelly sausages on it, he'd been missing for 30 hours, so the smell brought him to us, because he was hungry. Like I said, you might not think anything of these, but they brought my puppy back! If you want anything else, please please don't be afraid to ask! Good luck!! Chloe x
