On speaking to the owner yesterday evening in more depth, the man had actually had Coco for 3 or 4 weeks! As well as the posters, it was also an article in local paper/magazine that helped to get Coco home so great they ran the story. Coco is fine, in good health and pleased to be back home. Owner is going to send a reuinion piccy. Also she will help in any way she can if other dogs go missing in her area in the future and would like to once again pass on her thanks to everyone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news but it's time the police did something about this EXTORTION RACKET which a certain group of people have found to pay. We must keep lobbying ourt local and district councillors and our MPs about this. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A lovely man picked Coco up last week from outside a traveller?s site about 10mins from Coco?s home. He took her home and looked after her, saw the posters and called owners. Well done finder, thank you so much. So pleased Coco is now back home with Lucky (who she went missing with originally) and her family.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jammer! Yes, I have been in discussions with Coco's owners too regarding the calls they had been having. Initially callers said they had Coco, asked for a description from owner and when this was provided they confirmed again that it was Coco. Advised owner to contact the Police and additional advice given for the 'handover'. We had hoped that the people who were calling and requesting money in return for Coco would then actually want that to go ahead but when owner called back to arrange it they were told that they no longer had the dog (even though little time had passed). Are waiting to see whether the Police are able to assist in any way. Owner going to take a look around (at a safe distance) and also poster where possible. I have sent contact numbers of businesses in the nearby area to where we suspect the lady may have been phoning from to owner incase they have seen anything. Also notified owner of found dog 4456 just incase so this will be thoroughly checked out!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to owner today about found dog 4456. He also has had an encounter with an Irish woman saying she has found his dog and demanding money. Advised owner to go to the police and relate what has happened as, he says locally it seems people have been contacted about their dog being found and an amount being agreed but when the person turns up with money, more money is demanded or else....... this is demanding money with menaces and is illegal. As is the whole thing as usual.... hopefully the police will take it seriously this time.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks jeepsmi but it was Coco's owners that notified us of the 2 choc labs. Someone had called them thinking it was Coco but when owners got to the park it was not Coco and infact both dogs were male. Coco's owners haven't got internet access hence they aren't posting on here but I am in regular contact with them and keeping them up to date, they are very grateful for all the help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Flyers of Coco are going to be available shortly, so these can be printed and handed out to people in addition to the usual postering. I think it would be a good idea to look a bit further afield for Coco, so if any Essex helpers can assist that would be fab.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunatly the Pet Search choc lab was not Coco, it had already been claimed by its owners. Coco's owner is still postering and searching for Coco but has had no calls or sightings. Stay safe Coco. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Coco is quite a small and chunky lab. Owner has contacted several places already since Coco went missing - all local Police stations, Battersea, RSPCA, local Kennels, local farms and stables. She has also postered several areas including surrounding dogs walks (they are very near lots of fields and also a nature reserve), supermarkets, local pubs. Poster in the car too. As suggested by Tracyw, owner has phoned Woodfarm Kennels and left a message but will call again tomorrow to speak to someone. She has also contacted Ongar police, she's waiting for a call back but will chase and if not she is going to go there is person tomorrow morning. They are under Epping Council, but as Havering is very close by I have suggested she contacts Gemini Kennels who take Havering's strays which she is going to do tomorrow as well. Come on Coco, we need you home with Lucky now!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
