Have just returned from searching. Owner text to inform he had been found on the top of common thankfully someone spotted him and alerted owners who went up and he came to them.
A great job by all. Proves that dog owners are a wonderful community!

I'll inform the owners of the pup re the squeaky toy and mention the possibility of the mother dog being walked around the area. Definitely need laminated posters as Jenny says. Its a popular walking spot so potentially lots of sets of eyes looking for him.

If Basil has a squeaky toy it may be worth the owner taking it with her to search. Basil may respond to this. Also at such a young is the mother known and could she be brought to the area?

I've just come back from area, quite a few people looking but no posters about and those I spoke to knew they were looking for a brown spaniel but maybe didn't know Basil is only 12 weeks old. I didn't get a chance to print any posters this morning and there are none posted on any access point onto the Common at the moment

Thank you Mandy. Just heard from the owners sister that he is still missing. Lots of people in the local area are now aware and many dog owners tomorrow morning will be looking x

Hollyd - if you contact the owners again perhaps suggest they sit quietly and light a bbq with nice smelling sausages and chicken = most lab pups are food orientated so hopefully his stomach will overcome his fear

Thank you for sharing - just caught up with the owners. He has been spotted but unable to catch him as he is frightened :( Its going dark now but people, at the moment are still out searching.

The owner showed me a photo of the pup on her phone but hasn't had chance to text it over to me so I have put a photo of a similar looking pup that I found online. I am back at home, my partner has gone out for a look around.
