MARAZION, thanks for the update and great to see Bridie is o.k. and settling back home. Hopefully you can now go on to help other owners and look out for dogs in your area. Give Bridie an extra hug and cuddle from everyone on DL. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a note to say that Bridie seems none the worse for her ordeal. She has got sore eyes and nose which we have cream for and is also on pills for a few days, and she has had blood tests which we don't yet know the results of, but on the whole I think we got off lightly. Tremendous thanks to Steve from Beardies in Need without whose help we would never have caught her. Thanks also to everyone at doglost, without which Beardies in Need would not have got in touch with us and also to our local radio station Trax FM, because it was through hearing about a missing dog on the radio that the first person who saw her got in touch. Thanks again to everyone who contributes to the forum for all your advice and support. (from owner)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have put some posters up around the area where Bridie is, and some of our friends have taken them to put up in various shop windows etc. A friend knew of some ramblers going out near where Bridie was seen and asked them to keep a look out, plus another friend knows someone who keeps horses and rides in the area, and she is spreading the word among the horsey community. Good news today, a farmworker spotted Bridie and we have now had a barbecue and baited a trap with the meat. Fingers crossed we don't just catch a fox! Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful support we have had from you all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Marazion, thank you for the update from the owners. I know it is only human nature to want to go searching, but the key to finding Bridie is to get as many eyes looking as you can. You cannot do it all yourself. The key to finding her is poster poster poster, everywhere there are people, and hand them out particularly to dog walkers who will spread the word. Postmen are also out and about, so get them to take them back to the sorting office for the other workers. place all the posters in plastic sleeves with the opening at the bottom to keep dry from the weather. this will leave you time to concentrate on sightings when they start coming in. the more posters, the more sightings you will get. Good Luck. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just got back from looking for Bridie again. No more sightings reported and we didn't see anything of the dog, but we saw some paw prints and the remains of a hare, so we are hopeful she is somewhere in the area. Will go on trying.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to owner, they are going to try and send a photo by mobile and also register to leave an update. Relevant local authorities have been contacted and Police. They are going to the area early in the morning to search and try and contact the owner of the woods where Bridie has run into, also local farms in the area. Discussed media coverage. Will send SCENTING and MAPPING instructions. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re: telephone conversation this morning about missing bearded collie called Bridie. I am attempting to attach a photo to this message. Since I spoke to you this morning there has been a sighting of Bridie - I put out a message on Trax fm radio and a farmer spotted her in a field. My husband got there as soon as he could but she had run off into the woods about 2 minutes before he got there and he couldn't trace her again. It must have been her because she was still wearing the collar and lead. The location is called 'Bumble tree cottage' and is somewhere near the junction of the road that goes to Hodsock Priory (off Blyth Road a bit further up than Carlton Forest). Thanks for your help. It is worrying just how many dogs escape from kennels lately. Yet another one with lead still attached. Please check all wooded areas as she may be caught up in undergrowth and unable to free herself.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
