Just wondering if anyone is monitoring this listing. Someone has listed a Great Dane bitch recently found in a bad condition in Milton Keynes which unfortunately had to be pts. Haven't published any other details but it could be poor Juno.
Monnie
Hi unsure if anyone monitors this now as so long ago but I have info about a Great Dane that was at a v small dog refuge in the fens and sadly it passed away there this year. I never saw this dog but it's not that v far at all from Ely and just concerned that this might have been the same dog. Pls contact me on 07961248625 And I can explain how I came by this info if u are interested in looking into this. Thanks Last edited: 2016-07-25 23:22:27 by Monnie

I honestly thought I had found Java this morning when I bumped into a lady I know walking a Great Dane bitch with her other dogs. I had a good look at her but now I've checked the picture her chest didn't have that clean white stripe down the centre. I did quiz the lady and she happily gave me the details of where she got the dog so I could check up. Will keep on looking. AlisonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners seem to have gone quiet on this one. Does anyone have any news on what they are doing to try and locate Java.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought but there are a lot of dog breeders in the Ely area. If someone has kept hold of her for breeding purposes maybe we should be looking at puppies for sale ads and get someone to go and check them out especially if the ad say mother can be seen. I know she won't have her KC papers but we all know false ones can be obtained.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Has the owner got any other ideas of where Java might be. Without sightings it is like looking for needle in a haystack.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Ashmark, Penink & Kennelmaid, I have to agree that a big girl like her with such distictivce markings should be visible. Perhaps we need to think more laterally? Hope to hear of sighting very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't believe that there has been no sightings of this very distinctive girl. She is far too big to be hidden away so i'm wondering if we are looking in the wrong place. Will keep my eyes open for her wherever I travel.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have now discovered that the sighting in Witcham was NOT Java, posters have been left at Fen Farm Supplies and Mepal village stores. Neither of these places were aware of the missing dog. If she had been picked up as a stray then she would have been taken to Wood Green at Godmanchester which I presume were contacted at the time. The first we heard of her was from this site on Jan 3rdLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Everyone, below is the facts from the kind lady who was taking care of Java for her owners, and who was with her when she went missing, she has been unable to log on so has sent this through me, I hope this will give you some idea of the area involved and maybe get us some new leads: Java had some sort of seizure the night of Nov 26th and my husband and I had called the vet clinic that we use for our dog and I explained the shaking and symptoms that she had and was told to bring her in. Java had her collar on and my husband put her leash on and we had the car door open in order to get her in to bring her to the Isles Vet Clinic across the A10 from where we live in Ely and she got out of her collar and proceeded to run out of our drive way on Beresford Road and ran left up on to West Fen Road and continued to run straight across the A10 or so we believe as that is were my husband lost her due to it being so dark and having no light. I got in the car and we searched for a little while and then we went to the vet and told her the situation. After the vet I stayed in the car and drove up and down the A10 while my husband walked and searched. We searched both on foot and in the car the areas that were accessible and the emergancy vet even looked for her. When we came home I called the RSPCA and reported her missing. Sunday morning I called the Police station and left a message. Then on Monday I began calling near by vets, kennels, police stations and followed up with the dog warden for our district. I left a description with everyone I called and I called pretty much every police station and kennel and district councils in a 20 mile radius...Forest Heath DC, Mildenhall Police Station, East Cambs DC, I don't even know how many kennels and vet clinics I contacted the first week all while still continueing to look for her on foot and by car. I am amazed that she has seemed to just disappear as she is a rather BIG dog. She is so sweet and I hope that she is found soon. Even though we were dog sitting my family misses her. Thanks, JennLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I used to have a great dane that had epilepsy and when he came out of the fits he would just run and run in his confussion. It does make them very disorientated and for a while afterwards he did not recognise us. Have poster been sent out to the villages that surround Ely.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update: Thanks Alll for your patience. It is now entirely possible that the blue merle seen WAS NOT Java, so this means we're still going on last seen 24 Nov Ely when escaping following possible seizure or illness (not diagnosed). So any of you in GD organisation we'd appreciate your help. Thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Looking forward to hearing some good news - it's a pity if the interest fizzles out because owner is not updating but glad you're keeping everyone informed, Fly. Sorry I'm not in the area but sure Sully & all the Dane lovers will find Java soon. She could well be mistaken for a deer. We have muntjak & roe deer on our patch & I always look twice. Is Java's family not able to access site. Good there are local people on the lookout for this girl. If someone has her they will not be able to keep her hidden. Hardly a handbag size pooch is she. She will probably be quite upset with all these changes in her life. If her disappearance hasn't be advertised very well prior to DL & Sully's site then it will be now. Stay safe girl. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dane, it seems what Sully told you about GD's not moving that far away from where they went missing is quite correct. I suppose many of us (me included) would have thought that those long legs would take them further afield but clearly not so! A Dane called Neptune Reunited in Nov 2006 from Alexander Palace sprung to mind, as it wasn't that long after I had joined DL as a Helper, and he was found only about 3 miles from home, 'hiding' in a flower bed near a bowling green! Hope the weekend brings the call you've been waiting for. Please show your face gorgeous Java.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dane what you have said about hiding this can be true so owner if you have not done so already get some smaller poster done up with your details a post in your neighbors doors and ask if they could check garages sheds outbuildings and also in the garden under busies, as JAVA may well be hiding. When we lost florence, sully told us that he had never found a lost dane within a week as they tend to hide because of their nerves, and that they are never far from where they got lost. He was spot on with florence, it took 6 days before she was found hiding in somebodys garden - near water, they had a pond. These big dogs hide easily. Keep looking she can't be far. xxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i hope java will be found soon safe and sound. someone must know something. As soon as posters are out and Java put in the paper i am sure she will be reunited with her real owner. She has distinctive markings and being a large dog, she will be obvious to the public if someone has recently got hold of her. i am quite sure you will find her soon. You have to make her too hot to handle!! stay safe girl until you are back home. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you tried all of the Great Dane rescues as she may have been handed over to them. Here are some of their sites. www.danes.org.uk Startobegtdanes@aol.com www.greatdanerescue.co.uk www.danes.org.uk www.daneline.co.uk Most danes don't cope well in kennels and so are often fostered out until homes can be found. I can't imagine anyone could keep hold of her without neighbours noticing as I am always stopped when out with my two danes. Good luck with the search.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
