- What a GREAT result !! Well done Laura for being so patient and listening to advise and following it. Well done to Steph for that final catch and of course to Ray for being there if needed but also on the phone to owner as well.
Lets hope Bailey settles at home and starts to relax with her wonderful new owners. - 2017-09-25 10:12 Karen - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison

- Thank you so much to everyone involved with bringing Bailey home. I worked alongside DL again and we were in a fortunate (if that's the right word?!) position of knowing Bailey's behaviour and patterns from the first time she had taken root in the park. From the first sighting of her last Monday in the park 3 minutes walk from my house (after she'd been missing for 26 hours already) we were able to do create a food station for her where she was (morning and evening) and I put down one of her blankets from home and a couple of toys. I put up a lot of posters in the area asking people to call me with sightings of her, but not to approach her, as we needed to know that she wouldn't be scared away from the area. I sat for hours quietly in the park near where she was, I also took my other dogs, her favourite food and treats - anything to try and coax her out. I now understand that she was in "survival mode" from the huge shock she'd received when I'd dropped the retractable lead and it hit her. She'd only been with us for 3 months and had gone back into shock/survival mode instantly. The sightings were few and far between at first. Steph and I had contact throughout every day (well done Steph for being so patient with me but I just didn't want to put a foot wrong!) and she talked me though everything. Ray was a great support too and his advice to start a food trail back to our house meant that Bailey started visiting our house at night (we set up a camera outside our house). I was leaving bits of chicken at the end of the trail on our drive under one of our other dogs blankets. The blanket was in the road by the morning and even before the camera was set up I guessed it was Bailey because she rips her blankets at home in the same way this one had been ripped!! Anyway, we did a stake out on Saturday night - my husband in the car holding a string to pull the door shut - hoping that Bailey would come home and follow a food trail into our house. This didn't work as when she did come back she got spooked and disappeared. So another sleepless night for us and no success. The last couple of days/nights I was having more phone calls from local people saying they'd seen Bailey - I think she was coming out of the bushes more because she was getting hungry. I went to the park yesterday morning following some lovely sightings and sat with a bowl of hot stinky liver/chicken. Bailey couldn't resist and she came closer and closer to me. I stuck to the rules - lying down (on the wet grass), no eye contact and no calling her name. I was very popular in the park suddenly every dog was rushing over to see what that lovely smell was!! Bailey came so close to me - she was literally eating out of my hand at one point - but I couldn't grab her. If I panicked her there was a chance she'd disappear again. Steph arrived with her dog Pip. She and I have an amazing rapport and it was lovely of her to come to support me. We were waiting for Amazing Ray to come down and do his magic like he had the first time Bailey (Shipi) had done this. He was due to arrive early evening. She sat a little way away from me, observing the situation. I needed to pop home and Steph said she'd just sit and watch Bailey's comings and goings while I was gone. Shortly after I left Steph sent me an incredible video of a great interaction she was having with Bailey - talking to her, feeding her etc. I messaged her back saying I wasn't coming back as she was doing so well! Half an hour later she rang me and said "Would you like to come and collect your dog?". Thank you so much to everyone - family, friends, Dog Lost, even complete strangers -
