a workmate has just retrieved her GSD cross from Wrexham traveller site.. Dog was not there, but they asked to speak to the "boss", and explained that their dog was missing, and requested politely that should said dog be seen wandering they would appreciate him being brought home. Dog appeared in the street the next day. He had only been gone 2 days and never made it onto DL. There have been others from the same area stolen. Unfortunately not everyone trusts that people like DL helpers are purely altruistic, and they are afraid of accepting help. Please consider a trip to the site in the same vein, or, the warden says post is delivered to the site, so a letter to each occupant would get there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a winter fairground site in Wrexham just off the Mold Road. Take the Mold Road from Wrexham, filter on to the old Mold Road which comes out further up the main drag, just around the Lex Football ground. I spoke to them years ago and found them very approachable. They are one of the main fairground families. You will have to be quick as they will be off travelling for Easter.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll ask my relatives in Oswestry if they know of any fairground sites. Its coming up to halfterm with the schools so maybe I can get my nephews to help look for Rosie. I didnt have any luck last weekend. I'm afraid I cant go again for a couple of weeks. Good luck. She's such a beautiful girl, just like my Long Coated Shepherd.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No sign of Rosie yet. My sister-in-law found a wet and skinny Staffie. Took him to their vets, who scanned him and he's going back to his owners. They were given a poster of Rosie and say they will look out for her. Hopefully they might join this site. Come on Rosie, I'm trying to get so many people to help find you. You're so beautiful.xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Goldenfrodo could one of your relatives do the park in Os, the hillfort area and the big playing field by the cricket pitch. Also any access points onto the railway line. These were all dog walking areas when i lived there. i think victoria fields is by handyman house DIY and garden/pet place. I cant find that shrewsbury rescue number. However am sure Oswestry dog warden can get it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We had a call today to say that rosie was seen in oswestry last night and this morning he also went to the garage to check the poster to make sure it was her before he rang me. The dog he saw went off following a collie. We spent two hours searching but no luck. there was a smooth haried german shepherd at the police station in oswestry this morning and I will ring the dog warden in the morn ing. Similar GSD spotted running loose in Gillingham Dorset - could not be caught, was wearing blue coller, bedraggled (which is why I have checked on here). Other member of public phoning local dog warden - maybe a long shot, but worth checking out. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

shane2006 I'm glad you also know that travelers do not like GSD and have not any interest in GSD as I said before I have herd them say many a time they do not like them and are also very frighten of them. the only dogs they like are the terriers and the lurcher's for the reasons you have just said. I have a gipsy site a mile away from my house and they are known not to like GSDs I have five and they don't come near. They have terriers and lurchers I think the terriers keep away vermin and alert when strangers are about and the lurchers are used for coursing and hunting, I don't think gipsy's are into GSDs I hope not for Rosies sake. Owner says Shropshire travellers think this vehicle is a Wrexham/Manchester travellers one. Liaison for Wrexham has confirmed to owner that no strange dogs, certainly no GSDs on site in Wrexham. Kennels all state if a dog is stolen it is usually to order-eg prospective buyer is lined up, then the dog is stolen and passed on immediately be it travellers, druggies or whatever. I agree we need to follow traveller angle, but with a view to finding out where she was dumped/sold as she is almost certainly NOT at Wrexham site. Has the poster been mailled to the Telford area where the sighting was? At the very least this stray GSD needs to be caught and confirmed as Rosie/not Rosie. If anyone speaks to the travellers we need to find out if anyone deals in dogs in case they have "bought her in good faith" and are prepared to contact the buyer.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Come on Rosie. Get yourself home girlie. xxx My relatives in Oswestry are going to have a look near the travellers site later this afternoon. Every avenue has to be explored, in my opinion. We are having too many dogs going missing in our area and not enough of them getting into the blue.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Baldrick truly do not believe that ROSIE is with travelers, I still think she as been dump somewhere and as there as been a sighting I would consecrate on that area, But if the owner could ring the council and ask if they have a travelers liaison officer then that could be away forward if they do know who may have her, and because there was a van at the bottom of they lane when she went missing this may well be fluke, Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

e mailled nantycorn and acorn as per my phone calls of this AM. To be fair most travellers are NOT dog thieves. Unfortunately those who are disappear into thin air, and as the communities stick together they re impossible to find. Accuse one, and they all feel accused. If anyone has any contacts in the travelling community, however tentative, please ask them about Rosie, and explain it is not certain that travellers took her, but that it is possible, because some Shropshire travellers have IDd the vehicle as a Wrexham/Manchester traveller one. Also that other travellers may know something because they move around and meet so many people. Explain it is no questions asked for her return.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Baldrick you are right travelers do not seem to like GSD they like the terriers and the lurcher's my feeling that ROSIE is hiding and may be in the spot where she was sighted she may have been let go because she was to hot to keep hold of. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

see scenting advice posted on GYP's page. Thanks to whoever sent posters for me. One in Pets at Home, one at Crispin Lane entrance to Yale College, one going in Wrexham dog club, one in Wrexham DSS (staff side). I saw a very similar vehicle going into the college on Weds pm, and also in Penycae this afternoon. Unfortunately I didnt see things like bull bars etc. coz I didnt know what I was looking for. Is there any chance you could get Oswestry travellers to advise you on a Wrexham contact? I used to live there, and I know there was never any trouble from them. I will put a poster near the RC high school over the weekend, as the traveller children mostly attend there. They may have mentioned something to someone who will come forward to say where Rosie is. I have to say I have looked at the site as I pass and I have not seen this vehicle there. Dogs on site are generally terrier types running freely, and not many of them. Please post to advise us who you have rung etc.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner if you have an area that you think she is get things with you scent on and put it down with some food and you must get a feeding patten and if you can try and go early in the morning and late at night that is when she will come out to look for food, she may be laying low during the day because she is frighten also if she had a toy she like place that near the scented clothing and food that way she will keep going back. going you may need to get a human dog trap and your local dog warden may be able to help with this. I to have GSD and they are a one man dog or woman so if she as been taken she will try her best to get back to you, Poster like mad make her hot and yes get local papers that cover a long way. Also try and find out about the crew that was at the end of the road who they was working for or why they was there someone would have know they was there and why. If you get a name of the crew this may help you find ROSIE. also contact local dog warden and rescues. GSD if they are out and about they will go into hiding and will come out early morning and late night. Fingers crossed she will be back soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
