- Nicole, I'm so glad you have your boy in your arms safe and sound. I have emailed FrogPoolManor as I am sure you are exhausted and making the most of your boys safe return to contact all, forgive me if I over stepped. I mentioned your boys story to my partner and he said lets see if we can drive up and offer any help when I saw that he was in the BLUE I was overwhelmed and so pleased for you, wiping tears of joy - I have given my girls an extra cuddles over the weekends, they have loads anyway. I'd like to say a BIG well done to all involved in the successfully reuniting Bailie and Nicole - lets see if we can help any other missing boys and girls too. The owners of Cossington Farm have played an excellent part also. It is so rewarding to me that should I need the resources of DogLost (fingers crossed I wont - meant in the nicest way DogLost co-ordinators etc) that there are so many like minded people out there that are willing to help. I agree with Davec about the tags there is no need in this case. Here's to getting some more of these guys in the BLUE - Best wishes DogLost. Swebbly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Its wondeful news that Bailey is home and recovering but reading the messages why are people complaining about his tag, he was lost and lonely and running from people, I am all for tags and our dogs have them but they don't wear their collars at home and in this instance the tags would not have helped find Bailey, lets just have the pleasure that he is home safe and soundLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- WOWWWWW what a fantastic story !! Its such wonderful news that Baileys is back home safe and sound after all his escapades. I know this area really well as I lived in Walderslade for 12 years 20 years ago and the roads were busy enough there then !!!Knowing these roads he really MUST have a guardian angel to have survived running loose for so long !! A very big well done to owners and all those that helped get him back ! Welcome home Bailey and stay safe from now on xxxx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi All, Bailie is doing well, he's eating like a horse but little and often, 4 meals a day, its like we have a puppy again. He doesnt much like the outdoors at the moment, and its a real effort to get him into the garden, he has taken to stepping outside nannies back door and squatting for a wee! but with lots of encouragement he'll walk down the garden with us. I have been waking up every morning and just staring at him. He is having the odd nightmare and waking at 2am most mornings for the toilet. Its so good to have him back, he's enjoying all the visitors and cuddles andis back to his usual self, groaning at eveyone. To me Bailie being returned to us safely really is a miracle, I really thought he would try and cross the M2, if he had 9 lives its safe to say he has used them all. We all have a guardian angel and Bailies certainly did her job, he was kept safe and returned to his family where he belongs. x x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So many of our friends are going out and searching for him - we are so grateful to them and for all the support we are getting from doglost - thank you - and a big, big kiss to Bailie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I think what's really important to stress here is that we had an owner who, quite frankly, exhausted herself looking for her dog - and she listened to every word we said - and as she said to me yesterday, Wee'd for england!!! It's a pretty horrid effor having to go around clambering through woods with a bottle of wee and smelly food - but it works! Bailie getting home really is down to the effort Nicole and Tom put in. We're also delighted that a breeder has spent so much time and effort into finding one of their dogs - believe me we don't see much of that! Especially as you were so far away - but it does show what can be done even at a distance. Well done all of you - special thanks too to Shelties Mum who was always to hand, everyone else who postered - and a bit of a nod and a wink to Phebe and Catherine - o)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nicole, you so deserve to get Bailie back because you all worked so hard in your search for him. Welcome home handsome Bailie and make the most of all the extra fuss and TLC (P.S you could probably get away with murder at the moment!). - I was in tears when I spoke to Nicole this morning. What a pleasure it was to remove the spare lead from the passenger floor back to the boot I am so pleased all our prayers were answered. I've never known a dog go through so many lives in such a short time. To survive the M2, Lordswood and Walderslade roads is going some. - Hi Nicole just had thought have you contacted local radio stations and asked them to tell bailies story, it might get a very wide coverage. Also was wondering if you had any friends with a bitch in season, if they could go walk the area ending up at the farm, it may encourage him to return to the farm. Speak to you later. - I have a fifteen year old short haired pointer he has been stubborn since a puppy always knowing best, he has wandered for miles at a time but always coming home at first light, he was always a complete character, unfortunately he can hardly walk now, metacam is keeping him going. We will always remember our pointer as a stubborn pig headed dog, but we love him so much his character is amazing. Good luck with Bailie, I'm sure that you will eventually catch him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- He may have frightened himself and gone to hide for a bit, Nicole, don't worry too much. Important to get out there and scent as much as you can to lead him back where you want him. Drag tripe, your scent, anything to persuade him (and probably every fox in medway) back to the stables area. I know it's been a week but it really is still early days yet to find a feral acting dog. You know he's fit and well and we just need to persuade him our way works better than his stubborness to find home first! Anyone who does go looking for him please do remember, no loud voices, low movements, no eye contact and walk away NOT towards him!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Its been over a week now and he is still not home, up until today I know he is still alive and running! I would like to say a big thank you to Dee (Sherlock Bones), Shelties Mum and all those who are watching Bailie's page. The support is overwhelming. Abbanash are the people who bred Bailie, and have always remained in close contact. They are bringing Bailies mum, sister and brother down at the weekend to help find, his whole family will be looking for him I am hoping tomorrow will bring another sighting, I can't imagine life without him and won't, I need him to come home now. - I received a call today to say that a dog was loose on the M2 between junction 3 and 4 London bound. I contacted the police and highway agency and they had a report come into them at 12.00 midday. The dog then disappeared off the M2. I am convinced this is him, he is now the other side of the motorway (london bound) after going through the Medway Crematorium woods on sunday and under the bypass. I and the police have been along the M2 but cannot see him. The food at the fam has not been touched today so he hasnt beem back. He must be trying to get home either to his old home in Halling or his new home in Weston road strood. Please could everyone keep their eyes peeled when driving in this area. I got my hopes up today but now feel completely deflated. Bailie, when are you coming home, you are missed terribly. Bailies story will appear in the Medway Messenger tomorrow (Friday) and there is an advert placed in the Kent Messenger and Medway Extra (Free paper) as well. Thankyou for your continued support. - Bailie was seen for the first time today at 17.15 at the farm near Walderslade. The people who own the the farm put food out last night and left a stable door open and light on. The food was gone this morning, but could of been foxes. Madeline (the owner) put more food down and smoothed all the mud around the skip. When she returned from work the food had gone and her bins had been ripped open. At around 5ish her Jack Russell went mad at the patio doors and went she went into the conservatory Bailie was staring at her through the doors. He was spooked by her husband pulling intothe drive. I have been down there this evening and put his own bed in the stables along with my jumper and his food. The footprints around the skip I believe are his unless there is a wolf in the area!! We are camping out the night at the yard and cooking some sausages, to lure him in. I will be there all day tomorrow until my boy shows his face. I am hoping that when he hears his mums voice it may stop in his tracks. I truly think Bailie wants to come home now. Bailies story will be in the Medway Messenger this Friday or Monday. I would like to thank Sylvia (Shelties Mum) for putting me in contact with the Medway Messenger. Lets all go to bed tonight and cross everything and pray that Bailie will be back where he belongs by the weekend Thank you all once again. Your daily support means so much to us.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I so pleased to hear about this. Maybe he's getting tired of running and wants a safe stop off for a change. Spoke to Nicole earlier and she's looking for him almost 24/7 bless her night and day. Praying the trap is set in place tomorrow with a successful outcome and no running along the M2 because he must have crossed horrendous roads every day to date. Sylv xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thank you! Am sure Nicole will be here soon, but our boy Bailey is now heeding scents, it seems - and he's gone back today to the stables near Walderslade. We're hoping a local trap is available and if so it'll go down tomorrow with food - great owner of the house there is putting food down for him so hopefully Bailey knows it's safe and worth hanging around for! - Hi, Bailie was sighted today at around 11.00am at Cossington Farm which is the otherside of the M2, he was last seen on Sunday running through the woods at Medway Crematorium and under the bypass of the M2 into the fields. The lady who rents the farm saw him at the back of her stables near the skip, the yard runs onto the back of the woods. When she called he looked up and then turned round back into the woods. I spent several hours in the area, but could not find him. I posted leaflets to all the surrounding farms and houses. I received a call at 4.00pm from a dog walker who I had stopped on Sunday. Her black lab had found him sheltering under a fallen tree, she tried to coax him over and was inches from slipping a lead round his neck and he got up and ran off back into the woods. The last sighting was in the woods off Warren Hill, Westfiend Wood Nature Reserve, the north downs. The lady lives up the road from where her dog found him, both farms will be leaving stable and barn doors open tonight with food in to try and coax him in. I think he has gone deeper into the woods. Roads surrounding the woods are Bell Lane, off of Blue bell Hill and Harp Farm Road. What I do know that is up until this afternoon he is still alive. I have put an advert into the KM and Medway Extra, it will be ed into the main part of the newspaper so should catch all the readers eye. I handed out leaflets to the parents at Tunbury Primary School and tomorrow will be going to Boxley and surrounding areas. If anyone is near the places where he was spotted and has a dog please keep your eyes peeled. All I want is to see my boy again. I will going to bed tonight and pray that he will be kept safe for another day. Thank you everyone for all you are doing, I will be forever in your debt.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Well done everyone! I wouldn't expect sightings today, not with the terrible weather. Bailey, if he's following usual patterns, will be conserving heat and energy and laying low until the weather improves. There won't be an awful lot of vermin out for him either in the torrents so he's more likely to head for bins i'd have thought. Ask people to note for torn bin bags in the next few days!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If there's a break in the afternoon I'll come up Coney Banks way. That's some distance to the crem. The scenting's an excellent idea and will probably pull him in. - Nicole - am very relieved that the triangle theory is working - if that is the case then I think you can bring in food to Coney Banks. Find a safe place where he could be hiding - under wood, in woods, anywhere he'll be able to access easily but is away from public view. Put down a blanket he knows or smells of you - and your scent - make sure your scent from the other ends of the triangle leads to that place. Put down smelly food. Tripe (proper stuff) from the butchers... pilchards, anything nasty and able to bring him back for miles. You'll get a few foxes in the mix as well but it's worth doing - repeat the putting down of food daily at the same time each day - if you can am and pm to make sure that he will find it. Keep scenting too. Fingers crossed!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I cannot thank you enough for the support I am receiving, the reaction from the public has been unbelieveable. Bailie was sighted at Parmeston Road, yesterday (Sunday) at 1.15pm by one of my friends. When he called his name Bailie ran, like the wind, out of Parmeston across Magpie Hall Road and into the end on Conni Banks. He made his way down Waterwork Hill via the fields into WAlderslade and headed towards Robin Hood Lane where several motorists tried to stop him. He thenm went across WAlderslade Road via the fly over bridge and into the woods at the back of Medway Crematorium. He was later sighted, as I found out today, along Lordswood Main Road at 3.00pm ish. Last night I lamped Walderslade Woods and the alleys and garages at Luton. Nothing. He seems to disappear into thin air. Since his disappearance I have an map of the areas in the hallway, everytime he is sighted it is marked on the map. Dee (AKA Sherlock Bones) gave me great advice today. He is working a triangle. I strongly believe he is somewhere close in the Luton area. Today I sat at Conni Banks for 3 hours, I later walked a path of Conni Banks laying down my scent. My friend brought her Weimarana Tis along to mark the path as well. Tia and Bailie lived together for 2 years and have only recently been split up, he adores her. Tia found a sheltered spot along the path where she seemed to be particularly interested in. I also left my scent there. I feel Bailie has been there at some time sheltering from the weather. I am still going to bed every night and praying, praying for his safety and praying that he will be returned to me. I feel like I have lost my left leg, without him life is just not the same. I will continue searching and handing put leaflets until he is home. He belongs with his family who love him dearly. Thankyou once again. NicoleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- SM - we're going to try and bring Bailey back to Coney Banks with scent. If we can establish that he stays there we'll introduce food and then the trap... Nicole has been told he's rifling through bins so i'm sure that a smelly bit of pilchards will bring him back in no time. At the moment he's running when his name is called so please all helpers use low voices, no name calling, low body movement - the stuff you all know. Nicole I forgot to add does Bailey have a favourite squeeky toy he'll recognise? Squeek that when you're out walking - but no voices!! (you may look very silly - i'll keep an eye out for you!!). - So returning to Coney Banks again. Would a trap be an idea here? He's not half shifting and doesn't seem to be tiring. Wonder if he's sniffing around bins at the Wagon at Hale pub on the roundabout. Just thnking he has to be keeping his energy levels up by eating somewhere. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi, My hope has been restored today. Everyone set out this morning covering the Medway towns. He was sighted yetersday at Connaught Rd, Luton at 7.00am by the post lady then later at Swallow Rise Walderslade late morning and then seen trotting past Morrisons at 3.30pm. Hundreds of leaflets have been distributed around Gillingham, Chatham, Luton and surrounding areas. I received a call from an elderely man at 12.30 today to say he was dog walking at Connibanks and his dog found Bailie under a bush, he would not come out as he was petrified. By the time I got there he had gone, I left his blanket and my jumper under where he was laying. He has since been on the move through Luton. We did not see him again. My partner Tom is out lamping on Connibanks tonight and all my family are meeting there at 4.30am for an early morning search. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he will be home with us soon, where he belongs. Thank you all for your kind words, they are a great support to me at this time. I have had 6 PVC banners printed today which I plan to put on bridges in the Medway area tonight. I have printed offf near a thousand leaflets which myself and the team of 20 will be distributing tomorrow in Gillingham, Strood, Chatham, Boxley, Halling ect areas and then I will be getting on my knees and praying that he will come home. I feel exhausted both mentally and physically but will not stop until I have him back again, he is my shadow and without him I'm very sad. I will check in again tomorrow. - Thank you all for your support. I am Bailies owner and have been looking for him for the past 24 hours. nJust to update you all He was first spotted outside my house in Weston Road in Strood at 3.15pm on Wednesday afternoon. He has since travelled to Gordon Road School and then onto Lonodn Road heading towards Higham. He was hit on his backend by a car at 5.30pm on Lonodn Rd outside the Essco Tesco's Express Station. He got up and ran down London Road towards strood sportscentre where he was seen trotting up Cuxton Rd towards medway valley park at 6.00pm Weds night. At 3.30am I received a call from the police to say that he had been seen on the M2 btwn jct 3 & 4 trotting in the road. This morning (Thurs 10 Jan) he was seen at 10.00am just off Luton Rec in Chatham where he headed towards Capstone Park. Later in the afternoon he travelled up Northdane Road in Walderslade and down Herrons Way. Then nothing. Tonight he has been seen by passers by in Luton Road, Chatham, Connaught Street, Pheasant Road near the school and Mayda Road. He has no road sense. The last sighting was at 7.30pm in Luton tonight. I have just returned home for the night. I will straight back out at first light Friday morning. Please please continue to tell all your friends and family within the Medway area. There is a substanial reward for his safe return. I will keep you all updated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
