So glad to hear that Iggy and Omar have been reunited with their owners. Sorry to hear about the condition of Iggy's coat bless him, poor chap. Still he's back and his coat will grow... Stay safe precious two. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, I'm the person that saw Ozzy, and thought he might of been stolen, as no one sells an afghan for ?200, so I checked on here, and saw his details. What a great site, well done those who run it. Then I told my friend who had just bought him, and hats off to him, as he phoned tree tops straight away, and arranged for the dog to be reunited with his owners. As he himself has had dogs stolen in the past, and knows the heart ache that comes with it. So glad Ozzy is back where he belongs, though with less of his once beautiful coat :-( Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Everyone! I'd like to say thank you to Louisa for your kind comments about the kennels and thank you so much for the flowers, choc's and card. I think there's quite a few people who deseve to swing by for a well deserved choc and a cuppa!! I was very pleased to be able to see Iggy today. He came in for a well needed bath and tidy up at our grooming parlour. Unfortunatley whoever stole him decided to cut off his lovely coat, perhaps in an effort to disguise him, he looked pretty awful! He looked and smelt much better after his bath and Katie the groomer ensures me it will grow back quite quickly. In the meantime he has a dog coat to keep him warm and cover up his naked bits! I'd just like to say again thank you so much everyone especially to Pete, the doglost team (who I will be sending a donation) and to everyone who helped with the posters. Lets hope we can get the police to take dog theft seriously and ensure that all dog and kennel owners are doing everything possible to prevent being targeted by dog thieves...scum of the earth!!!!! This is brilliant news & still cannot believe that people buy dogs from the back of cars & vans. Well done kennels & I sincerley hope that dog owners stay sensible about this. You have done everything you could and more to get these dogs back and stop it ever happening again. Good to see a chipping day may be arranged.Hope the owners had a good holiday- they've missed all the fun.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Brilliant stuff a 'chipping day'. Perhaps you can get Joe at MVDC also on the case? Not to draw you away from such important stuff, I just want to remind everyone the chip is only as good as the vets and other officials who scan and have the ability to do so. Please make sure you have signed up for Dolly's Directive clearly shown near the top left of this page. We need to get everyone compulsory scanning who has the ability to do so. I personally know of a case in recent weeks where the dog has been rehomed and not scanned. Original owner now has the dog back thanks to new owners vet, but what happened before - nothing! Heartbreak for owner, dog and new owners. Support our Candy and Dolly on this please. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello everyone I am one of the owners daughters who collected Iggy this morning. Me and my sister Gemma would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out and for all those lovely comments - we really were very touched. Thanks to the power of this website and the posters, Iggy was returned safe and well. A massive thank you also to the staff at the kennels who were absolutely fantastic with helping us find Iggy. It was such bad luck that the thiefs chose their kennels, it could have happened to anyone, no matter what security is in place. If thiefs want to get in - they will! I hope business doesn't suffer too badly. I am so pleased that tomorrow when my parents - the owners - return from holiday, that we have a happy ending to tell them. They still do not know about the theft - it would have been devastating for them both. When my parents read this website, I think they will be overwhelmed at the support people have shown. WELCOME HOME STINKY BOY!!!!! Good luck to everyone else who has a missing dog. I hope they come home soon xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much everyone! What a relief. The owners will be touched by everything you have done to help bring Iggy back home. Please Please please take Pete's advice and microchip your dog if you haven't already. I will certainly be offering Iggys owner a microchip and trying to encourage all my customers to let me chip them (their dogs that is, not them!!) Thank you Annie for your kind words about the kennels. Now Iggy is safely home I will be concerntrating on further improving the security at the kennels. The bas***d's wont be helping themselves to anymore dogs from us!! I urge all other kennel owners to review and if necessary update their security, I'm sure Pete will be advising other kennels in the area during the inspections. I have informed the police regarding the dodgy going on's of Iggy's recovery and will be hassling them until they look into this further. I'm very thankful to the person who handed Iggy in and urge him to help the police in their investigation in any way he can. Thank you Thank you Thank you everyone!. I'l keep you updated on how Iggy get's on. Jo Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope that the police will follow up on this case. I don't know of anyone who would buy a dog from the back of a van, except maybe to rescue it. I will reserve judgement on this one. This must be so worrying for the kennel owners and their business. Well done to them and all connected with the reunion of both of these dogs. Another cup of tea you have earned on this one Pete. Welcome home Iggy, a nice chip for you now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a relief!!!! Let's hope the person who he was sold to is confident enough to give descriptions to the police and any details of the van - it's a pretty big hope though as I guess the ?1,000 reward was more interesting than the dog to them...?? it's a pretty dodgy way to buy yourself a dog! Apologies up front to them though if they really didn't realise what was going on, I suppose in the heat of the moment and excitment your thoughts can run into zigzag bends instead of straight lines!!!!! WHICHEVER - so glad he's safe, Jo was having the worst time over all this and she really is a caring person so if you need your dogs looked after her's is the kennels to use!! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news, so glad both dogs are safe. Pete has made a very valid point. People should be encouraged to take photos of their dogs from all angles, plus a written account of any features that would help identify them. Racing greyhounds have an ID card. With the panic and worry involved when a pet goes missing it is easy to forget minute details. Am off to write up on mine!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I just hope that the Police now investigate this THOROUGHLY,,,, I will be calling them to chase it up! its about time they looked at Dog Theft more seriously. it is OBVIOUSLY Organised crime and the thieves make money from selling on the dogs or from rewards advertised on posters or here. Such criminals need to be brought to justice. ALSO- can EVERYBODY please MICROCHIP YOUR DOGS and ensure you take regular photos of your hound!!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

And a BIG well done to all local DL Helpers and everyone else who worked so very hard in getting these two back to where they belong. It really is quite amazing that deals go on from the back of Transit vans! I must admit in all the MANY years I have owned dogs, I have never been approached or witnessed such a deal. Hi All, Thanks again for all your efforts. Jackie, sorry I meant to call you today to see how you got on but as always its been manic! Shame about Tesco's. I might go down there and try again. Sometimes it just depends on the person working and whether they are a dog lover or not. but if they wont put up a poster I'l put up a smaller postcard sized one with their adverts and maybe use the smaller leaflets to put on cars parked there until they throw me out!! Thanks Annie for all your help today. I think we got quite a lot covered! I have some help at the kennels tomorrow so will have more time to get out to get some more signs up around Guildford. Might visit some of the farms and sites near wood street too and ask about. Thank you so much everyone!! JoLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Collie Mad - we managed to get to the pet shop in Ash today, they also have a poster of Brock and Monkey - they could be anywhere by now plus they may be linked, who knows??! Have also put up posters and spoken with lots of walkers about the DOG THIEVES that are around in the Farnborough area and surrounds at the moment. The word seems to be spreading about Iggy already which is great!! Covered the pet shop in Farnborough, several parks and also the sports field opposite the army area - also have the details of who to contact regarding putting the information on the Orders for all the local army people!! this was recommended to me by a member and a man of the church that I bumped into by the canal. There's another bit, not the main shopping area that we went to as well and left posters for windows, and went to the Royal Mail sorting office too. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think it would be a good idea to do around the area that Omar was found in - maybe they ped him off when they were nearing their home area once they realised he was an old boy...? I'll put one in the Sainsbury's petrol station and the BPs on the A3 too so anyone travelling around could see them - you never know. Another good place is the traffic lights in Guildford at the crossroads by the spectrum, that's where the person who let us know about Digby saw a poster (lost from Holmbury St Marys and found in Kent!!!). Also B&Q, Homebase, etc on the Ladymead estate, anywhere where lots of people go regularly. I'll call you in the morning then and we'll do whatever we can in the time you have!!! :o)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yeah that would be great, perhaps we could blitz Guildford town? or surrounding villages? You can call me anytime tomorrow morning, I can only get away from work between 12-3 or 3.30 at a push. I have about 100 posters at the moment. I'l try to get some more done. I think the owners daughter is going to try to do some as well tomorrow in the fleet area. Also anyone wanting a list of the places we have already been to please either leaave your email address or email me at joanna_quinlan@hotmail.com I will then send out updates of places visited to save us from covering the same ground. I always have a good look at any Blue Merles I see in case it is him. My brother is busy printing of posters for me as I speak but I will probably try to get to a print shop tomorrow to get a bulk load done. Hi to everyone, and thanks for your help so far. Iggy and the Peke Omar where both taken from the Kennels I run in Guildford. We have never had anything like this happen before. It's a big shock for everyone involved especially the families and the staff at the kennels who adore them both. We have obviously stepped up security at the kennels to prevent this happening again. We will also be involving a security consultant for further advice. In the meantime all our focus is on getting Iggy and Omar back safely and as soon as possible. If anyone can help in any way like by displaying or handing out posters I'd be very grateful. Thanks again. JoLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
