I have spoken to the petsearch person and she doesn't think it's Cassie but will have a double check on Monday now she's got more details, I've left my number. She has also given me details of a couple of other dogs found in that area so I'm going to have a look now to see if any similar ones are in our lost list.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had another long chat with owner about the first sighting on the day she went missing. In order for Cassie to have ventured that far( which is also well out of character) she would need to cross the main Headcorn road- plus the railway and river- unless she went over the bridge on this main road. The sighting by the lady at watermans quarter is probably accurate as they took more photos to show them to make sure. posters are out and about but i have suggested more in this area as it is unfamiliar territory for cassie and she will be looking for home. it is possible she may have been picked up and taken this far as it is strange that she ended up in this area. I have suggested maybe putting posters at local pubs and asking if some smaller flyers could be left at the bar. apart from spreading the word and getting the posters out there no point in trying any thing like scenting as we have no reference sightings to go on. if this happens they will phone me so we can talk over scenting to try and bring cassie back to a safe place. Owner is now going to concentrate on that area as she did not think her dog being old could have travelled the distance and was presuming maybe she had gone off to die-it appears this is not the case and someone in the area may well have taken her in.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cassie was spotted later on the evening she went missing she sneaked into someones house who shooed her away as they thought she had come from next door. This was about 4/5 miles away from where she went missing at a place called Watermans Quarter near The Headcorn Aerodrome.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner rang me yesterday to say she had a phone call re Cassie having been sighted, shortly after she disappeared in an area owner did not expect her to be. Owner has visited people who saw her and will be posting around there and she will be logging on shortly with all the info.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a chat to Cassies owner, no sign no sight of anything. The postman has even distributed flyers. Local farmers are also on the lookout and local people know that she's missing. Owner has trouble keeping up the postering and phoning around because she is so very busy. Had a chat about the importance of reminding everyone, vets, sanctuarys etc but owner has had some negative feedback which has been putting her off such as "well if we had had her she would have been found a new home by now and we couldn't give you any details". Owner feels there's not much point in that case. I informed her that I would still be checking the "found" dogs for her and not to be put off but to re do the postering whenever she can, perhaps now with a reward. This is an old dog and she may get sick and be taken to the vets at any time and then they would be on the alert. Please any helpers around the area can you do some local informing of vets, sanctuaries near you?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's too late now but I will ring owner tomorrow to see if there's any news. I don't expect much as owner does have my number, if there was anything I expect she would have called me. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just had a chat with Cassies owner, there are 25 acres of fields to go missing in, she has searched a bit at a time and asked local hunting (lampers) to keep an eye out, they reckon their dogs would have found a body if it was there. She has put flyers in the local post office and others around but very locally. Gave her lots of information about who to contact and where and to keep calling including local council and waste disposal contractors. Surrounding areas are Smarden, Maltman's Hill, Edgerton Forstal, Grafty Green, Sutton Valance, Chart Sutton, Staplehurst, Frittenden, Teynham, Alkham and a bit further is Tenterton and Ashford so any postings in and around these areas would be appreciated if anyone can help. I have advised that owner poster further afield now. Also to contact Battersea, (who have a new on line form now) Lord Whisky, Rspca, PdsA, Blue Cross, Dogs Trust and Last Chance at Edenbridge and poster anything that's not moving. She says that the dog is very attached to her and that if someone has her she will just pine away, it's very sad.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner it would be worth going over the area where she went missing as she may have got tired and is unable get moving again, so a good look to the area she went form. also make sure you contact your local dog warden and also get in touch with local rescues, if there was any house near bye put smaller poster in there doors as she may have wounded in there garden. if contacting rescues go in person as they are not always good when you describe a dog to them better still send all the rescues a poster and also vets in that area. Hope CASSIE will be home soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
