These dogs need to be put on the area Countryside Alliance email 'grass routes' system, it goes out to huge numbers of rural people inc most people involved in country sports and farming. Seee main CA website to find your local organiserLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sounds like the packs need to inform the national tatoo register of their proceedures if the Tatoos are to be of use in identifying and reuniting their dogs! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If the dogs are tatooed and belong to a pack, the National Dog Tattoo register may not recognise the number as packs have their own number, for example, if there was a pack in Chester, the tattoo may read: CH 05 which would be CH = Chester Hounds and 05 being the year the dog was born, there may also be another number which pinpoints the exact dog. I know this because a friend of mine found a dog but didn't know the breed, the police wouldn't help, the dog warden was closed for the weekend and she was on her way back from Cornwall, the dog was running around a busy road, she was able to get it (surprisingly easily) into her car, she took it home and we began a search to find what the tattoo was, when I saw it I recognised the breed, by the next day we located the humt kennels it belonged to, they were overjoyed at finding the dog, they immediately named the dog which we relayed to the dog, who in turn responded, they sent someone straight up from the West Country to Cheshire to collect the dog. Many Foxhounds lose the pack and get picked up as strays but as their tattoo is not easily recognised they can get lost in the system. I hope all of these dogs are found very soon and returned to their home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live near the Guildford area and would be happy to help put up posters when we have some pictures of the dogs or similar ones. I can collect some posters once they are printed out or print some at home but I only have a black and white printer. Let me know if you need help. Jo Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is terrible. Does the warden have any photos to supply or should we use some look alikes? Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
