Gosh am sooo happy you have them back home. People who steal dogs are the lowest of the low and make my blood boil. There should be a specific police unit initiated just for relocating dogs, as this sort of thing seems to be getting more and more common. This happy ending has made my day. Congrats to all involved in this rescue and lets hope the people who stole them (and no doubt other dogs) get some sort of punishment xxx

I have been unable to log on to my computer all day & evening until now but I just had this 'FEELING' that I had to Log on to Doglost & check for any Positive Updates for #findBettyAndWalter who I have been Sharing & Tweeting for since they were 1st Stolen,
Ohhhh, They must be soooo pleased to be #HomeSafe
I am sure ALL the Family & Many friends & 'followers' will be Sleeping VERY Soundly tonight .
Gosh, How BRAVE were You to go down there on your own - why didn't you take your Mum , a Male friend - or a Police Officer - with You ?!
How on earth did the 'couple' manage to 'sight' Walter & Betty if they were hidden away in those terrible conditions - makes my blood boil, makes my heart break that someone / some people could have Stolen these lovely Dogs & then subjected them to this traumatic experience - they are sick & twisted & need to be Found, Named, Shamed & charged then Shut them up in a dark room with only a thimbleful of water - see how THEY like it !!!
the thief/thieves MUST be local to know about this derelict Farm ?
Maybe they had 'bragged' to a friend/family member who then #didtherightthing ?

I am so pleased that you got your dogs back - you were brave to go out to the farm. It sounds like a rotten old door wasn't going to keep Walter from you once he heard your call. You may already have thought of this but I wonder if it might be worth informing the local police and dog warden of its location just in case the thieves are ever tempted to use it again.

The best news to see this . Whoever has done this needs catching before they do this to someone else. He or she will get a shock when they see them gone. Hope police are following up.

Comment from Betty's owner.First of all I would like to thank all of you for making today possible. With over 15,000 shares my dogs are now home where they belong.
I had a phone call this morning to say two dogs a st and a mastiff were on a farm in Wigan and wondered if just on a long shot they may be mine. I drove down there with little jack in the car and found myself going down a long deserted track into a forest type area. At the bottom was a dead end with a big derelict farm all boarded up. I jumped out the car and whistled, nothing. I thought I'd been set up. I shouted water and heard a bark. It was Walters bark. I jumped the locked up gates and Walter comes flying out of the back of the building with blind Betty following behind. I cannot begin to describe what I was feeling. I tried to pick water up to get him over the gate and couldn't lift him. With that both dogs winched themselves under the gate and straight into the back of my car. I had to reverse all the way up the tiny lane all the way thinking someone was going to come in a minute and take them from me with jack still in the car. As soon as I got onto the road I was crying tears of unimaginable happiness. My dogs were in my car. I took them home and returned back to look for the other missing dog local to where mine were stolen. Had a good route around and rang the missing dogs owner where he came to meet me. My dogs had been kept in a tiny box room full of excrement with just a bucket of water. You could see where walter must have bust the bottom door off to get out. Whoever stole my dogs wanted to keep them alive and well hidden. It was a total hell hole in there. The couple who notified me of the sighting of my dogs will forever be in my heart and I owe them a lifetime of gratitude.

I think it would be a great idea (As someone has suggested) to contact TV/and Radio to get as much coverage as possible. If anyone has any suspicions of where these dogs could be or whom may have then please contact the owners of ir you prefer Doglost which will be treated in the strictest confidence. They need to back with their owners, especially as Betty is blind. So if you know anything at all. no matter how small, please do the right thing.. The owners must be devastated; the dogs too. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. THANK YOU Paws, and fingers xd for their safe return. And prayers said too.

All these missing dogs are totally heartbreaking but this really is so so sad. This poor girl must be so confused & the fact that Walter is always with her to help her get round just breaks my heart if they not together. I really don’t know who could do such a despicable thing & put these poor dogs through such an awful ordeal. Reading through Facebook I understand they may well of been drugged & carried out in a barrow of some sort. I cannot imagine what the poor family must be going through right now as must be absolutely worried sick. I cannot stop thinking about them.
Why did they target these poor dogs? Has there by any chance been someone that worked at the stables with some sort of grudge? I’m sorry but I keep thinking who would do such a thing, they seemed to know their way round reading about it on there.
I hope & pray that these beautiful dogs are found safe & sound & returned home asap where they belong to their family.
I have tweeted countless times & with all the media attention I pray they are going to be found soon. Please please let them be found & I am wishing with all my heart they are somewhere safe & whoever has them does the right thing xx

Not saying these photos are Betty but has anyone checked out this link? St Bernard being sold in Lancashire only went up 4 hours ago and I'm not 100% sure the photos are of the same dog (Head marks look a little different at the top).
