We will be conducting a search on Saturday starting at 10am. We are meeting by the Pidgeon Tower and Sulham Woods car park. If anyone is free to join the search, please do come along, even if just for an hour. Thank you.

Hi. Last night, someone reported seeing a little dog near the Crown Plaza. We searched for 40 minutes, but could not see a dog around there. I guess it's possible by now though that Jess has travelled quite a distance. Can anyone keep an eye out please where you live? Maybe on roads you travel on every day too. Thank you.
Andrea B
Update from today: still not a single sighting of Jess. Searched with Julie and friend and some others joined the search on their own again. Thank you. Tomorrow, I am back at the pigeon tower by 8. If anyone wants to come up and help, let me know and I can meet you. Two dog trackers came back to me - can't help.
Does anyone have any other ideas what we can try?
By the way, I am offering a reward for the save return of Jess.
Lisa
Good luck with the searches today, a concerted effort could make all the difference.
I spoke with someone who works on Sulham Estate & he's keeping an eye out around/in the various
farm/estate buildings etc. Also, spoke to someone who used to work in Fire & Rescue & he mentioned that a squeaky toy was invaluable for tempting terriers out of confined spaces.
Will join you shortly for a while...Last edited: 2017-12-06 10:39:45 by Lisa

Joe, Some are meeting at the tower tomorrow from 8am onwards - I think their plan is to check holes and to mark them with flour to indicate they have been checked....there are so many holes!! The main search is at 10 am on Saturday from Sulham Main Car Park

I'm reading update/progress reports on here and on Facebook Reading Dog Walkers but what I can't see is an organised group search. Is there one? I'm happy to join/help
Andrea B
Thank you all. Just requested to join that group. Much appreciate how everyone is trying to help little Jess find her way home.

I've sent Andrea a message via facebook about your comment Drone SAR - hopefully she will log in and contact you.
Posters are now up through Sulham Woods & also at the Equestrian Centre. Today I have handed in posters to the surrounding vets Valley vets , Tilehurst Vets & the vet in Overdown Road. Soo hoping Jess will be found soon.

Hi everyone. Jess is my dog. We live in Theale and took her up across the motorway bridge to the lower parts of Sulham Woods, just in the tree line. Just west of the folly she went sniffing at some bushes and then went straight up the hill. We haven't heard or seen her since. She is a typical terrier, so she will go into holes unfortunately. We used to take her to the other side of Sulham Woods as well, so I am no longer sure after three days of searching if she may have gone that way. Thank you all for helping to search for Jess.
LYDNSYD
Jess's owner is posting more detailed info on facebook ...Reading dog owners
She is trying to get a tracker dog to help with the search. One can't come till next Tuesday but she is going to try another one that has been suggested. Apparently Jess has been known to go down holes so I think that is what might have happened especially as there have been no sightings. I've put up Posters around Sulham Woods and will do some more & hand them in to local vets but lots more posters need to go up so if anyone is willing to help out I'm sure it would be appreciated. Hopefully Jess's mum will start posting on here too. Needless to say she is distraughtLast edited: 2017-12-04 23:01:39 by LYDNSYD

Had a good look round the Tower this morning and Harefield Copse (The Woods East of the Folly on the Little Heath Road side).

I'm happy to keep looking, but it would be helpful to narrow down which direction Jess went and a bit more detail about the place she was lost from.

Sulham Woods are quite far north of the tower, and there are lots of other woods East and West of the field the tower is in.

The OS Mapping website shows the names of the woods either side of the tower if it helps:

https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/51.44806,-1.06753,16

Fingers crossed she can be found soon.

I'm very close to where Jess went missing....i don't have access to a printer, but if anyone can run off some posters I can distribute them around the area. Also, please don't lose hope...there are so many people looking out for her.
Update Monday 4th.... I've been out again and Jess's owner was focusing on the woods directly around the Folly, which I believe is where she went missing. It has been mentioned that they often walk a circuit, crossing the M4 footbridge from North Street then straight up the footpath to cross Nunhide Lane (near Coltsmoor Cottage) & up into the woods, then turning right through the woods emerging at the Folly. Apparently they sometimes use the footbridge towards Theale over the M4 near Ikea. She may have tried to find her way home on any of these routes.....Last edited: 2017-12-04 13:06:16 by Lisa

Posted Jess's loss report on my Facebook page. We lost Daisy, our cocker spaniel, about a month ago - she turned up at home unharmed about 6 hours later!

I've asked a friend of Jess's mum to add more in depth details as to how Jess went missing i.e did she chase after something, what direction did she run off etc. Also asked if a Photo of Jess can be uploaded so local volunteers can start printing posters. Her owner must be distraught. So hoping she is found safe & sound today
