I am really really sorry to read your story. I am Coco's owner and you can read my story about the how our much much loved Coco was taken from us. I feel we will never stop crying, I can truly understand how you feel and I am so sorry for your loss. Perhaps when we get over our grief a bit we all should petition together for a change in the law regarding our beloved pets. I so much feel for the other people who do not want to hear the news we had and are sitting each day not knowing, it is heartbreaking. Take care and my thoughts are also with you. xx

Hello everyone. Just to let you all know that my complaint to the police resulted in someone from the uniform bar desk at paisley to get their knuckles rapped. The police did get back to me regards with my complaint with their breakdown in communication and apologised stating that they dont carry scanners or have the facilty to uplift as they put it ROAD KILL on the motorway. I pointed out to them that their breakdown or lack or communication was shocking but i think it falls on deaf ears. The only good thing to come out of my ASBO being killed is that Fiona DOG WARDEN CHIC from heaven contacted AMEY HIGHWAY SERVICES and as a result of her kind kind heart in doing a job that she obviously is dedicated to they have agreed to contact her should any dogs be recovered from the motorway and the good thing about that is that they cover a greater distance rather being restricted to one area. My ASBO boy is home and I take great comfort in the fact that he is with me. I miss him terribly and I drive past the bit on the M8 where he was killed every night on my way home from work. I must say it fills me with sadness beyond belief because I feel guilty that I did not find him on time. My heart goes out to everyone on this site who has lost and who is still searching for their missing babies and I hope and say a prayer everytime I come on here that it is a happy ending for them all. I again want to thank all the people on this web site who helped and all the people for their kind comforting words through my time of sadness. Kindest regards Rita x

I am so sorry, my heart goes out to you and your family. Police and animals, never been very good, but from april they are not resposible anylonger for missing or found dogs, this is being transferred to the local authorities, who have not been given any extra funding, so what will happen now, who do we report it to, are they available 24 hours, I think we are all going to see a dreadful situation re our dogs, as if it is not bad enough already. I am so sorry the system failed again....rip

I am just so very sorry to hear about Asbo. Sadly this is NOT uncommon. It happened with my friends dog (which was also registered on here). We were searching for two weeks in the hope she was found, when she had been run over on a motorway the day she went missing. Police denied all knowledge despite two call per day from us checking. Its a disgusting situation. Huss was incinerated by the council, so my friends didn't even get a chance to bring her home. Nothing was saved .. collar, id .. nothing no scan was done. Again it was only information from a driving passing by that we found out and pressed for information. Eventually precise times were found to be logged with the police, but none of this was give out at the time .. it should not be happening.

So sorry to hear this. Every time this happens the owners need to complain. It must be terrible for dog lovers on Highways/street cleaning to have to face distraught owners who are disgusted by the system. I hate to say it, but you are very lucky to get him back. Most owners only know that the dog described on computer is probably their dog judging by a vague description. I feel for you. x

Hello everyone, update on ASBO. Was sitting tonight with my thoughts of ASBO and decided to phone PAISLEY POLICE STATION to complain about the circumstances surrounding ASBO. I got put through to the uniform bar desk like I have been doing since the 24.01.08 and asked them a few questions. I asked tonight why when I called them on the 25.01.08 after receiving phone calls from members of the public to say that they had seen ASBO on the motorway either alive or killed did they not have a record of this. I explained that I had phoned them twice in desperation on Friday the 25.01.08 to be told look if your dog had been killed then you would know about it. This phone call tonight took all of ten minutes. They guy transferred me to another line were I gave the chap the details and to my astonishment the guy got the details on his computer. ASBO was reported killed on the outside lane at the cut off before Braehead at 5.15pm on Thursday the 24.01.08 by the Traffic Police, Helen Street, Govan who failed or did not care to get him scanned, contact other local stations, contact the spca or anyone else. They just covered him with cusions until AMEY Highways picked him up. I cant understand why tonight I got detailed information on my poor baby ASBO from the police in less than ten minutes and yet when I called PAISLEY on the 25.01.08 in utter desperation told no nothing your dog is fine, giving me ten days of false hope etc etc. I am so disgusted that I have took the incident number and I will be complaining to highest person in their establishment because this is not good enough. ASBO was picked up today by the cremation people in IRVINE and is coming home on Saturday. Not the result I wanted but nonetheless he is coming home.

this really is disgusting! This was a chipped dog so why on earth was he not scanned???? Anyone with the authority to remove animals from highways should have scanners, whether it be police or local authorities!! My thoughts and prayers are with you xxxx

This makes such sad reading & yet again the police have let themsleves down. We do have some very good police unfortunately in the minority where animals are concerned. It's disgusting that neither the police or the agency that actually remove deceased animals from the highways cant be bothered to scan. Asbo's spirit and memories can never be taken from you. He will let you know he's ok. Thanks to Amey's worker who took the time to let you know - not the call you wanted but he will always be with you.

I hope you will write to the Chief Constable and make an official complaint, it may help to stop this happening to someone else. There are procedures the police should be follwing and they have failed. I also think the highways people should have a scanner if they are responsible for sending remains for cremation. Isn't hitting a dog a reportable offence - it always used to be? So sorry for your loss ***Run free at the bridge dear boy***

So sorry to here about your beloved ASBO, it is a shame but none of us on this sight now are surprised in the way the Authority's carry on it seems the right hand dose not tell the left had what is going, and even if it did do they care I think not, if ASBO had caused a bad accident you would be shaw you would have heard something then and you also could have been prosecuted by the drivers, it seems one law for them and none for our pets, well shame on them all. It's just so awful that you had to wait all this time to find out but thank goodness that the caring doglover came forward, albeit with news that you didn't want to hear. Rita,it really is thanks to the Amey Highway doglover that you finally did realise what had happened to Asbo and no thanks whatsover to the police,shame on them.This is happening far too often..see Dolly's Directive to the left here and let's try and make microchips work the way they are intended to,which is to give us peace of mind.I'm so sorry for you,this is all very sickening, you shouldn't have had to endure 10 agonising days at all.I am dsgusted.xx

Hey everyone out there. I will update the site in the morning but i just want to say my bit. I phoned round all police stations and was told that my baby ASBO was not reported as killed on the motorway even although some people phoned me on the Friday 25.01.08 to say he was. I phoned all police stations ie Govan, Paisley, and Pollok who assured me that if a dog was killed on the m8 motorway that i would know about it. It took 10 days of me putting up over 300 posters, being in contact with dog wardens (who i must say the lady FIONA in question was a god send and done everything in her power), community wardens, bin men, post men etc etc and even doing the pe pe trial and ANN aka SPRINGTIME who is a dog helper in the area and was like the dog warden out in all sorts of weather like myself looking for my beloved ASBO. It took for me to run a story in the PAISLEY DAILY EXPRESS and a dog lover who seen the advert from the AMEY HIGHWAY PEOPLE to say that my beloved ASBO was killed the early hours when he went missing and the police plopped him in the central reservation for them to collect. They man from AMY HIGHWAY saw my plea for the return of ASBO in the daily paper and contacted me to say that they had my boy in their FREEZER since the 24.01.08 after seeing the story from the Paisley daily express. I cannot understand why ASBO was chipped and I phoned the POLICE not once but three times a day to make sure he was not killed on the motorway and they said "i can assure you if your dog was killed on the motorway M8 you would know about it". They cost me 10 days of pain searching as well as dog lovers on this site as well as FIONA the local dog warden who worked no end for his return. The breeders from DEVON i contacted tonight to tell them the unfortunate news and i am in disbelief that a dog of such high pedigree could be tossed aside as rubbish. I understand that the Police have an obligation to human life on the motorway but we as tax payers pay their wages and they dont seem to be doing enough in my opinion. Why oh why did it take a dog lover who worked for AMEY HIGHWAy to break the bad news. My partner had to go and look at our baby in a freezer ready when it was full to go to an insineration place. Just as well the man from AMEY was a dog lover and contacted us. My beloved ASBO will be picked up from the pet cremation people and returned home this weekend. Thank god for closure although it is not the outcome my partner and i had hoped for. Inuit dogs are bred for their temprement and for the short time that ASBO was in our lives let me tell you he filled it with such joy and love. So do you think he is managing to work out the way home, or do you think he is going round in a circle, or just completely lost? Sorry if this is upsetting you Rits72, I'm just trying to work out on the street map where he may be now.Also,it's been known before for a lost dog to hang around an area that looks like his own home,for instance if his house has a grass verge in front or a pillar box that makes him think he's home.Worth considering.xx

Went out looking for Asbo again this morning but no sign of him,sorry to say.Drove around the Whitehaugh area and walked my dog up and down the streets off Arkleston Rd..Avondale,Kingsburgh,Balgair and Dalmary.Is this still the area I need to concentrate on,Rits72? Can you confirm where and when were the last sighting,was it Tuesday 29th in Windsor Cresc?

Been out doing the pe pe thing tonight again, all round barshaw park and the areas my beloved boy ASBO last seen. He is such a unique looking dog that i cant see anyone having him. When we got ASBO from DEBBIE and MICK the breeders from DEVON although ASBO was thin he ate like a horse. I imagine he must be painfully thin looking by now but people who dont know the breed will not know that that is the way they are. My baby CHINOOK missing him awful and he is picking up his scent im sure. The kind breeders who had him have even offered to come up all the way from DEVON in the hope that if ASBO hears them calling that he will come out from hiding. They as well as ANN have been a great source of help and support. Please everyone keep looking we are desperate to get our boy ASBO back safe and well as I say he is unique and not just the run of the mill lab, rottie, spaniel, terrier etc. He stands the height of a small pony and is a striking looking dog. I cant believe that when the Paisley Daily Express ran a story for me on Friday that people called to say seen him in their gardens Monday and Tuesday and did not call the SPCA to say he was there. How often do you get stray dogs in this day and age. We are not living in the eighties where dogs strayed the streets 24/7. Off out in the morning before i go to work again. Live in hope xx

Poor Asbo,still out there,lost and scared.Just been out searching the area again but its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.I know Asbo's owner is shattered,constantly out looking and doing everything she possibly can but she can't do it on her own.I am asking all helpers in Paisley,PLEASE go out and help search the Barshaw Park/Whitehaugh area as much as you can,as Asbo will be easy to spot.We think he is still straying in that area,nervous to go near people,so unlikely that someone has him at this stage,BUT once someone picks him up we may lose the trail altogether.Please try to find him before that happens.Thanks to all helpers..let's find Asbo.xx

Hi everyone. Been up the Greenlaw area and surrounding area doing the pe pe thing in the hope that ASBO picks up my scent. Breeder from Devon been in contact and is mailing all Inuit and Utonagan societys in my behalf. Deb (the breeder) is also in contact with radio one in the hope that something comes up. x

No luck I'm afraid..drove around the area where Asbo has been sighted,then walked my dog around the streets surrounding the cricket pitch and round the pitch itself,as you can see into all the back gardens from there.Had chicken and spare lead in my pocket but didn't get to use them.Will try again 2moro if he still isn't home.xx

Just thought,is there another dog that you could take out on your searches for Asbo?I've read on this site before about the dog being afraid to go near people(even their owner) BUT they will trust another dog and you have more chance of getting a lead on him.x

Got another call tonight a chap telling me he seen ASBO my boy on Thursday and he came right up to him and sniffed his wee dog but would not let him near him. He seems to be in the Greenlaw drive area and round the cricket club thursday and friday sightings. Lady in the new houses at windsor crescent positve sighting monday or tuesday but the same thing. ABSO running around like a big horse but would not come near her. Been up that way tonight and searched the surrounding area but no joy. Back out tomorrow looking for the big fellow.

I will drive around that area as much as I can 2moro.Have your number in my mobile.My brother is looking out for Asbo in Kilnside Rd.area too.I took a poster along to Abbey Vet as I was going anyway and pleased to see they already had one on display.Have sent you a PM, Rits72, can't help thinking Asbo may be seen more at night as she will be nervous of strangers approaching her.If anyone sees him,may be best to phone owner asap, rather than risk scaring Asbo.xx

Hello everyone, thanks for the support. Have had sightings of ASBO. Latest sighting Gallahill area PA1 3SQ. Off to spend all weekend searching for him. Seems that although ASBO has been seen he wont come near people. Will keep you all posted. Asbo went missing from his home in Ralston, Paisley. I am in Hunterhill and will put up posters in my area and round the local dog training clubs, vets etc.
