Hello I am a friend and colleague of Linda Cooper's and I wanted to let you know how pleased she was with the kind comments on your website in relation to her recent rescue of Hunter the Hungarian Visla. Linda is a dedicated dog warden and puts a huge amount of time and effort into her job. As I'm sure you know in this job it is rare to get thanks and even any encouragement so it really made Linda's day to read the lovely responses from your users. One point I wanted to make though is that Linda is the Mid Suffolk District Council Dog Warden (not Ipswich which is a separate district). She can be contacted at Linda.Cooper@midsuffolk.gov.uk. e mail received today. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good points from dog warden, can we please have this kind of thing put up on the info thread/section please Jayne? Also can we ask helpers if they live near to a postcode border to alert DogLost - for eg I live on the border of IP7 and CO10, could help in either area! I'd had no notification about this dog, tho it went missing not far from where I live Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I wish all dog wardens were as good and thorough as this one, the situation for missing and found would be so improved, can DWs not liase between counties, we know the police cannot be bothered, happy Hunter is home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Linda-thanks so much for reuniting this lad with his owners. We always say to anyone with a lost dog to contact dogwardens and adjoining ones and all vets etc and NOT to trust the police to inform the owner-I think some people have so many clls to make they forget who they have rung. Out of interest how far away was the dog picked up?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Could you please advise all owners of missing dogs to ensure that they should they live close to the border of another Council that they also inform the adjoining Council. I found this dog on my patch yesterday, it had been reported missing to both yourselves and Bury St. Edmunds police. The police station in question would not inform other council areas of the loss despite the fact that this dog lives on the borders of another council. I don't think the members of the public realise that the information they report to the police does not get distributed. The microchip the dog had was not one that petlog could identify so they could not reveal the losers name and address. Had I not checked on your web site and received your email, - this dog would have automatically gone to our kennels, and because Petlog had no knowledge of this microchip I could not inform the loser of the find and I would have been oblivious to the fact the owner was looking for it. Please, please highlight the need to members of public to ring Police/Council's (and should they live near an adjoining Council to ring them too/local vets/and also to ensure that the microchip details are correct and are still inside the body. I have known microchips to migrate and even come out of the body also, so owners need to regularly check with the vets that the microchip implant is still there and the details are up to date. Kind regards Linda Cooper Dog Warden.........e mail from dog warden. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, doesn't he look cosy?! I do hope it won't be long until this lovely senior boy is back home. Keeping everything crossed 'this end' for his swift and safe return. Just a small point, in the Description box it says Hunter is microchipped but below it says 'Chipped: No'.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
