all are rejoicing, people in Versham, DARREN the street cleaner (so sorry I got your name wrong), friends at Wrexham "social" will be pleased too, and the poster will have a big "found" on it today! Rhostyllen posters removed. Hooray hooray hooray. My other half can be a teeny bit po faced about lost dogs, but we were both bouncing round the room last night. Doggy people are the best. We alll need to forget differences of breedvs crossbreed/little dog vs big dog. That is all divide and conquer. If all dog people help each other the rest of the world would just fall into place.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So very pleased that Jake has been found safe and well. He must be very happy to be home in the warmth and comfort before the bad weather hits us! I am so pleased also that your worry is over and I can just picture you all fighting for space round the fire, the best place to be at the moment. LOLLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sorry message was so short last night i couldn't do anymore. a man had got jake in a nearby village. he had picked him up on friday and put him with is jacks in there shed. they had a rare family get together yesterday and his brother had seen the posters that baldrick had put up around there local playing fields. jake is fit and well he has a few scratches and cut paws and is a little slimmer but had a good night sleep with his russell in his own bed, me and jakes dad had the best nights sleep ever. i have never felt such devestation as i felt since friday. when your dog dies you grieve and repair the hurt with time, when your dog goes missing you feel so helpless and time only makes the emptyness seem worse. baldrick is amazing just knowing that somebody else is concerned about your pain is a comfort. you have another doglost helper in wrexham and i tell everybody i talk to about you great people. today jake is having a bath (he's a bit smelly) we are all going for a walk to enjoy the rain ! and when if the snow come we will all sit by the fire. jake is 1 of 4 so there is little room for anyone by our fire. now i'm twittering on so i'm going THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. JAKES MUM.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

postered the beiginning of Plas Power wood footpath, outside New housing estate at Wilkinson drive by bus stop/post box, also opposite bench at Rhostyllen Playing field where older dog walkers rest on their way to the woods and people park there for the football. spoke to dog walkers including an off duty postman who will inform his mate who "does" this area. very nice lad from Street cleaning for Pentrebychan, Rhostyllen and top end of the Bersham road (thank you Gavin) rang his friend who had been very upset at clearing a dead lurcher yesterday from the lanes. This was NOT jake, as he was brown and black, had no collar and was only 6-9 months old. Both lads will look out for Jake, and have taken a poster for the portacabin so other street cleaners who do this patch can see it. Gavin also took one for Rhostyllen Spar. have put a poster up in work in Wrexham and will put one in Special Riding centre on Thursday night. we need to put some more in the bersham plas power area as well as surrounding districts, as plas power estate is 500 acres, surrounded by villages. Owner and I are meeting on Thursday to search and poster, but could do with some help if poss.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

recd e mail from Kevin Carty at Acorn, wrexham holding kennel. No sign of Jake yet, but he will contact if a possible comes in. Owner is ringing regularly too. She is contacting the Leader, and possibly the Mail, Denbigh free press and Post also. Jake was a rescue from 5 weeks, and was adopted by their JRT who had a litter at the time. She is devastated, and has stopped eating. Their most recent rescue pup has been adopted by Jake, and he is also pining. The local papers should be able to make a good story I think. No sign in Bersham this morning, and no posters yet, though the couple of folk I spoke to seemed to know about Jake already. My printer cant do legible pictures, and owner has run out of ink, so I will take some temporary text only posters just to Bersham tomorrow either before or after work. I will drive that way and stop of on the way anyway. More posters will be printed tomorrow evening, and owner and I will be getting together on Thursday daytime to do a full sweep of the area by car and on foot, postering and putting flyers through doors as we go. if there is anyone in the area willing to join us it would really help, especially with the grimmer stuff such as checking roadsides and the river banks etc. Please PM me or the owner, or contact direct by phone. If nothing else it is a lovely area to walk your dog. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hello thanks for all your help. the dog in the kennels was not jake but a brindle lurcher who has been there 10 days. today i have contacted road sweepers in all areas no road kill, i have contacted lurcher rescue and all the local rescue centers. tomorrow i must ring oswestry dw and chester dw. posters are starting to go up and i am taking thursday off work so i can walk woods and start to put posters on trees. somebody called in local petrol station and saw poster then remembered somebody saying they had found one but couldn,t remember who had said it if she remembers she will call back in. really worried that no sighting of him. trying to stay positive. my husband walked small wood today in the estate no sign of him have taken in the good ideas by norfolk helper about scenting and will try some of these on our travels. pray every night that he will be home soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi just knowing that there is help is a comfort. we live in the lodge house on ruthin road side of plas power. jake was seen by the farmers on the shoot at 12.30 he was then sent back down towards home as they knew were he lived. (he had dug out of the back and under the hedge) . he has not been seen since, he is a greyhound bedlington lurcher of sandy colour with a rough coat along his back, he wears a greyhound collar of brown leather, he has a small pin sized scar on his forehead where the fur hasn't grown back. he still has his dew claws due to a mistake in theatre they forgot to take them of. jake is a worrier but very freindly to people any any other animal. we have cats, chickens and ducks along with 3 other dogs and horses we all miss him so much. his best friend a jack russell bitch is fretting for him. we have walked the estate daily with the german shephard. my husband will be going again tomorrow into the woods in the estate by the lake. i am in work all day so am restiricted when i can walk the woods. have checked the gypsy site and he isn't there have phoned dog warden and kennels also rspca local vets and wrexham and chester police. tomorrow i will call road sweepers and oswestry police incase hes travelled. he not keen on car travel but would go with a freindly being. have attached photos. photo 1 jake2 is when he was younger with his smooth coat photo 2 jake1 is older with his rougher coat. my land line number is 355756 thank you for you consideration jackie..........e mail from owner. have been in contact via e mail and listed best numbers etc. owner desperate for help. have advised that she logs as helper so she can post. have been to bersham end of the woods to advise people there. locals will be looking out for emptied bins etc. have also e mailled wrexham holding kennel, requesting acknowledgement. I will e mail admin a photo as soon as I can in case owner cant. it may be morning now though. three good things about this 1 dog is lost in area where he lives 2 the main road is under works, so traffic is very disrupted and light 3 no suggestion he is stolen, which makes a nice change at present. could someone please post some scenting advice, as owners husband is checking woods every day.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

will text owner later for an evening landline number. I havent spoke to them yet, just contacted by text. These woods are not overly large, but they are long, and back onto a vast network of fields, and connect to a long footpath. Anyone walking in Bersham, Nant mill or Minera Lead mines along the heritage trail needs to look out. This is a regular dog walking area, with lots of people back and to. In some places you can cross the river, and I know my own lurcher is inclined to cross then forget how to get back without getting wet. Bless em. Someone will have seen this dog. Has the owner signed up so they can post? Any lurcher worth his salt will be inclined to raid the bins at the visitor centre. They also have CCTV, so if owner asks nicely they may be able to help. On weekends Community service people have to clear rubbish etc. Many of them make a big fuss of dogs. Also there are guided walks, so the ranger needs to be informed. I have passed message round some people who live in the area, however, cant do much without a piccie and more details. I will hang fire until I have some direct spoken or Pm/e mail contact with owner, but will mention it at Agility club tonight as well as driving that way to get there. owner, glad you got in touch, please PM me or post, or ring my mobile with more details of exactly where in the woods he was last seen, which way he ran, and where the last sighting was_and whether this was definate or un confirmed. Was he wearing any sort of collar? if so please describe it. about how tall is he? whippet or greyhound sized? does he like other dogs or is he likely to run from them? I can ring you to organise a thorough search of plas Power and nant mill and poster at the same time. we need to cover the area on foot, plus wherever the last sighting was. i was in the woods that day and there was a lot of shooting. All my numbers are on my home PC, but please until we can get them to you ring Wrexham Dog warden again, then ask to speak to street cleaning and ask about roadkill for the area as they dont tell the dog warden.plus acorn holding kennel, plus capricorn animal rescue as a start. we need to visit all properties around the woods with small flyers, and attach some to trees in plastic wallets. there are enough bunnies and shot but left birds to keep a lurcher going for years. we need as many people as possible to get together at the same time to search and poster. we need to ensure hes not in a rescue somewhere too. are you local? I notice the contact number is a Rhyl one. if you are not local do you have local friends or family who will sign up to help?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
