It's now 4 weeks to the day since George went missing. Lost of calls regarding possible sightings, but they either turn out to be a different black and white cat, or I simply cannot track the cat down, no matter how often or patiently I search an area.

I am now organising a leaflet drop in the Stranmillis area. If anyone can contribute a little time to help out with this, please post here. I do understand that this is a very busy time of year for people, but any help at all would be massively appreciated. Thank you.

Bit of excitement last night, as I was contacted by people in the area who thought they had found George. Turned out to be another cat that looks very like him, so a bit of a heartbreak at the same time. The good news is that the little cat in question has now been re-united with its owner. It's also lovely to know that people are taking in stray cats during this terrible weather. It helps to keep hope alive.

When searching, I carry a 'George kit' with me. It contains the measuring cup for his dry food (George has issues with resorbtive lesions, so gets a 'dental specific' food from the vet), plus some of the nuggets to rattle, his favourite toys which are covered in his scent, and a pouch of his favourite wet food, which he gets now and again as a treat (it's not that great for his teeth, so has to be fed very sparingly). I got a wee packet of Dreamies as well, just in case! If following up a sighting, his usual cat carrier is brought. This ordinarily lives in a corner of the sitting room so he can brush past and deposit his scent on it, which helps to make trips to the vet at lot less stressful for him. The carrier is lined with the fleece blanket from George's bed. At home, I haven't changed or moved any of the fleecy throws covering the sofa or my bed, as he usually spends a lot of time sleeping on these as well. If there's anything else that should be brought on searches, then please let me know!

I've been trying to track down delivery drivers who were in the area on that weekend. So far, no joy (at least not from the regular drivers from major supermarkets) :-( Part of the problem is that there are now so many freelance and self-employed parcel delivery drivers out there, so I've been thinking of a radio appeal. There are shows on local radio that might be able to help.

Hi, many cats that go missing have got into a delivery van or car and hitched a lift to their next port of call. Was there a delivery van around that day? Ask neighbours. Then call the delivery company and ask where the vehicle went next. Most vans use gps now and can say exactly where they went that day. Really hope your cat comes home soon, thinking of you

Yes, it should be. I've emailed the administrator. There was no sign of George at the Gasworks, but will keep an eye on that area, just in case.

If you think it is George who has been sighted, then i is very likely someone is feeding him. And if you find that is George, I would borrow a cat trap from Cat Protection with his scent inside your scent too. I think you pay a small donation. When searching where he may have been seen, take an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. When George returns I would keep him indoors for at least a week or he may go awol again. Paws xd.
