Hi all I went to meet Poppy yesterday, the JRT who went missing in January from Riseley, RG7 and was found two months later in Basingstoke. She is very happy as you can see and is spending a lot of time on the back of the chair in the sunshine, looking out of the window. She has settled very well into being a farm dog again, loving being back with Yogi and has accepted the newcomer, 5 mths GSD Daisy. Ann and Gilbert are overjoyed to have her back, are so grateful to Doglost and are not letting her out of their sight at the moment. I found her to be v.v cuddly, especially loving a tickle under the chin. Although they have always had CCTV on the farm, they now have large yellow signs saying so which are visible from the gate. Oh, and they now actually have them switched on all the time! They have already noticed a difference in the number of random callers they get since the signs went up. I shall see her again as I have become friends with Ann and Gilbe.........e mail and reunited photo from helper Spancoluki......thans for the update! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, I'm Tony...the guy who found Poppy. What a fantastic day that was !!!!! I couldnt believe the amount of drivers who simply swerved around poor poppy, its a miracle she wasnt hurt. Luckily I drive a big van with flashing lights so I simply cut across the road and stopped all the traffic. To all you people who drove past Poppy....'I hope you never lose something so precious !' This goes to show what a great site this is...it really made my day ! Although I refused the reward offered by Poppys Dad...he was very insistant.....I am a dog behaviourist and work with rescue dogs and that money will be put to good use by the rescue...thankyou so much and I am over the moon to see Poppy back home. Good luck to you all. TonyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to Poppy's exstatic owner this morning. Poppy was found running down the white line in the middle of a busy road. The man that picked her up was able to do so as she rolled onto her back for a tummy rub - something she does for any stranger (which was probably how someone was able to take her in the first place). Poppy is doing fine and is already looking better. She has checked out the whole farm and settled back into sleeping in her favourite place in the sun in the kitchen. Sadly poor old Henry had to be put to sleep about three weeks ago and they rehomed another youngster to keep their remaining dog company - so Poppy has got a new family member to get used to but it's going well so far. Hoping to visit next week to meet her and give her a cuddle and will post a piccie. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

spancoli - the Wokingham Times has so far got two dogs back for us in the last six months and I am sure they will run something for you. Reading Evening Post - I have friends on there and can try and help you, also contact Karl Plunkett on the Chronicle as he is a dog lover. I am more than happy to help if needed. To confirm, I have included Poppy in a Countrman Column but had to send over two week's worth in one day so am not sure which one they will use first. PLease make contact with Rosie and Boot's mum as she had her dogs go from a similar area. Take care and keep postering! sianxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have postered Swallowfield and Riseley, and Swallowfield council are putting something in parish magazine. Spoke to several people who had heard about Poppy and a spate of other missing dogs in the area too. Met Poppy's lovely owner today, who is advertising in press and contacting local radio. They are all missing Poppy, especially Poppy's elderly companion, rottie cross Henry, who is very distressed and was relying on her as his eyesight is poor. Location is a livery yard with many people coming and going so the small flyers will be very useful. Left some posters with owner who does not have a computer, although her daughter and grand-daughter do. Come home Poppy, they need you!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Postcode has been changed to RG7 as requested and locaton has been clarified, as being lost from between Riseley and Swallowfield. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owner. Thinks Poppy may have been taken at around 11pm on 17th as she was in the yard with two other dogs and the gate (big farm gate) was closed. When they were called, only two dogs came back and they found the gate was open. Poppy never leaves the farm and only knows home but is very friendly and may get into a vehicle, so she could be anywhere. Owner having problems getting pic to computer so have offered help - waiting to hear.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please could you up-date poster? I can poster tomorrow. This farm is in rural area, not heavily populated, between Riseley and Swallowfield, but much closer to Riseley. It is RG7, not RG1. I train my dogs at Wellington Equestrian Centre not far from there. There are fields and a heavily wooded area (adjoining the equestrian centre) to the south of the farm and fields to the north and east. There is a very busy main road not far to the west. Have emailed details to a friend who lives very close.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
