So very sorry to hear your sad news, but at least you have closure and know part of what happened to darling Marley. You did all you could for him and you tired so hard to find him, so please take comfort in the love and care you gave to him. Run free lovely Marley across that Rainbow bridge. I stood by your bed last night I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, and I?m here. I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, you were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today your arms were getting sore I longed to take your parcels I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today you tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you I smiled and said, "It?s me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I?ll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.-Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sad to read but at least you now know the truth. Dogs do react differently to us normal mortals even though at times their brief time with us makes such a big impact. His spirit will have been at the bridge with his new friends, I hope he likes his tree. He will find a way to give you more comfort & let you know he has moved on.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I feel this will help you to move on, now you know that MARLEY was not mistreated, and as for him suffering do not think this, dogs have a built in ability to stop pain unlike humans so you can rest assure he died with out pain. God bless you boy now you can rest in peace at home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have heard back from the vets and they have said that Marley has been dead for at least 4 weeks and has severe bruises around his chest area and his heart. This would show that he has been hit by a car and ran back to where he went missing to try get help and obviously laid to die there. Obviously we were completly wrong in our assumption that he had been picked up by someone and killed and dumped there. This has come to some sort of relief as at least we know he didnt suffer any mistreatment, but horrible to know that he died a horrible death. He has been cremated at the vets and we are going to bury a tree in the garden in his memory. We would like to thank everyone for all their support and to Dog Lost for such a great website!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

By the edge of a wood at the foot of the hill, Is a lush green meadow where time stands still, Where friends of a man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done, For here between this world and the next , Is a place where each beloved creature find's rest ! On this golden land they wait and play till Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer in pain or sadness for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness!!!! Their limbs are restored their health renewed their bodies have healed strength imbuled !!!! They run through the grass without even a care, untill one day they Stop and sniff the air !!! All ears pricked forward, eyes dart side to side, Then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack ! For just that instant their eyes have met Together again person and pet, So they run to each other these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last !! The sadness they felt whilie they were apart has turned into Joy once more in each heart, They embrace with a love that will last forever and side by side they cross over together !! We have rung the number for the dog centre which is where the dog is, but they are closed so will ring tommowow at 9. The dog does look very similar to Marley but the woman i spoke to said that the dog was not microshipped, and marley obviously is. But she did ask when Marley had last been scanned and he has not been scanned since he had been microchipped as a pup, so she said it could have intergrated away and may not show up on the computer. So this could be hopefull. Anyway will ring tomorrow and will see what they say as it it is quite unlikely it is him as it is so far away for him to travel or be picked up and dumped. Thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Marley, no I'm not in the area but have been there thru racing connections. I dont have any info, but I was suggesting owner gets smaller leaflets and takes them into the racing yard AND the stud which is adjacent [Eastern side] to hand out to staff as many will live in the village and surroundings. the Baldings themselves have labradors and will be sympathetic, owner should ring their office for help, don't just poster outside! As with all 'racing' villages it's quite social there so pubs etc [and in surrounding villages] are a good bet. All the local pubs seem v dog friendly inc the Carpenters at Burghclere [landlord there Simon esp loves dogs] and the pub at ?Echinswell iirc. There are shoots in the area, the Baldings might know the local gamekeepers. Also find the Agent or Manager of the Lloyd-Webber Estate and speak to him, the estate covers lots of that area just north of Kingsclere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Corbiere, no i am not the owner of Marley but i do know the owner and will tell him any information that i find out. In the message you sent did u mean that you had seen Marley around that area? We are confused on what u meant by your message? If you did see him where was it and when? Also was he on his own or with someone else? We have just put up posters around the area of the Balding's racing stables like you said. We have also put them in kingsclere and tadley and the surrounding area. Yeah we have been searching everyday including around the Brimpton area and we have found no sign. Yeah we thought he could have been picked up, if so hopefully someone will be kind enough to take him to the vets to get scanned to find out where he belongs. The owner lives in Kingsclere- and if you do have any information pleased do not hesitate to call on 07770537322 Also the owner doesnt work at the Baldings racing stables.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Corbiere
Jockette, are you the owner, if so do you work at the Baldings' racing stables - looks like Marley is on a polytrack or sand gallop? If not do take lots of posters round to the stables AND the stud for the staff to put around. Take some to the pubs/shops in the village too. I think it's unlikely this lab in Brimpton is Marley, it's a long way away [he could have been picked up of course]. Where does the owner live - would Marley try to get home?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
