Missed the update yesterday due to poor mobile broadband connection. Great to see Shelby is home safe.

Lovely news. X

collielife, when you have time and have recovered from your stressful week, we would love to hear how and where Shelby was found. Those of us in lost and found work are always learning, and what we find out from one case will often help us with future ones.

I am so relieved for you.

Anything is possible, hence why a tracker dog would be a great idea, humans are finding it very difficult to walk. Almost a week now since she went missing and the conditions up there are dreadful.
DogLostOwl
Unfortunately not many around, and even if I were closer mine is now 11 and could not easily work that terrain. One thing to consider, is that when dogs get lost in forestry in hilly ground, it can be because they have slid down a slope to another level, cannot get up the way they came, and continue along the lower level to try and make their way back but get disoriented. Would that make any sense here? Last edited: 2017-12-26 23:39:23 by Owl

Hollieberry - a tracker dog would be great, but we cannot find one.

If anyone has any ideas with telephone numbers, please email me collielife1@gmail.com and I will pass them on. Can I re iterate, we have tried all the drone groups and search and rescue, the latter will only search for humans, not dogs, we have been unable to find anyone to help so far. Thank you

Still no sightings, not getting much support from anyone locally to help on the ground. Two people going out again on Thursday, if anyone can help all the details are on the breed website Collielife.com. We have been trying to get some tracker dogs, woodland is too dense for a drone / thermal imaging equipment and parts of the area are too dense to walk on foot.

I have shared with DL FB Page, Twitter & Public. I hope that Shelby is safely back at home soon.X

collielife - how about trying a wildlife enthusiast with thermal image equipment - a quick search of the internet has found this website: http://dumfriesandgallowaywildlife.co.uk/
Hollieberry
Maybe worth getting a tracker dog in to help with the search .
DogLostOwl
Still worth posting on Drone SAR for lost Dogs UK facebook page as a few people do have thermal imaging drones.
sheltielover
collielife, in this situation a thermal imaging drone might be what is required, but as they cost a great deal of money, the best chance of finding one in Scotland is to contact Search and Rescue, Mountain Rescue may have someone.

Jasper, I am told by local people the area is too dense for a drone.
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Try Find a drone pro. There seems to be a couple listed on there which operate in Scotland. The chap that runs the site is most helpful and has contacts.
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Are you able to contact a drone company with a thermal imaging camera? I'm sure someone on here would be able to advise?
Unknown
Friends of mine have been up to help in the search - Shelby is lost in very very dense woodland which is a huge area and she cannot get out as it is a walled area. It would help if someone with a search and rescue dog helped in the search, if she is hurt and/or trapped, she does not stand much chance of being found by anyone in a car or on foot.
