This is wonderful news. It's worrying when they run off still attached to a lead. I used one many times with my nervous collie as he was in more danger if scared & running loose than attached to a lead. All I ask is that you get a tag for her harness & hope that she is none the worse for her ordeal.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My prayers have been answered. Roxy was found this morning stuck in some woods a mile from home. Someone very kind heard her barking last night and this morning and went looking for her. They had seen a poster in the Post Office earlier and called there to get my number. She was still in her harness with the lead attached when she was found. She has lost a lot of weight but seems to be in good spirits. It is wonderful to have her back home!!! A huge thank you to lostdog.co.uk for all your support and help. Thank you all so much for your support. I feel we have searched the area fairly well but will keep at it. I haven't let Rory off the lead since this happened but I think I will try that. I have ads going into the local papers later this week. Our local post office/newsagents had two walkers in on Sunday who had seen a poster and thought they might have seen her last week in a field not far from here. I will walk in that direction tomorrow. Someone else thought they saw a dead dog on the side of the road but when we went to investigate, it was a muntjac. Mnay thanks again!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

owner - good to have you on board, there is a chance the lead could have snagged so be sure to cover the area where you can to ensure he has not got caught up - it has happened before. contact the local papers in the area and ask them to do an appeal, they have always been incredibly supportive in the past. feel free to contact me if you need a hand on 07843 681980. sianLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is there are Ramblers Association over your way that you could notify? I too am concerned that Roxy's lead or harness may have got snagged on something. Have you taken Rory out with you for a good scout about? You never know, he might just lead you to her. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sounds as if she might have got snagged or stuck - we've had a couple of those lately. Rory will have to do a "find Roxy" number for you! There's some kind of conference centre/hotel at what used to be Great Missenden House isn't there? and a car boot sale across the road in the field sometimes. Plenty o places there to poster. The pubs are v busy in those parts iirc, lots of doglovers. Good LuckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you very much for your suggestions and help! I have contacted Chesham and Amersham police stations, the Dog Warden in Amersham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe and the Chiltern Dog Rescue last Monday and today. I think its possible that someone may have found her and taken her in but I'm hopeful that the posters will generate some information. We also have her litter mate, a blue roan Cocker Spaniel, called Rory, who must be missing her terribly. They have run off together occasionally when they get the opportunity and on this occasion, I had been walking with one on the lead and swapping them over from time to time, as I often do. As I was going over a double style behind our house, I ped Roxy's lead and she ran off with Rory who wasn't on a lead. It was 5pm so I searched until it was dark but didn't find them. Rory came back several hours later but there has been no sign of Roxy since then. We are desperate to have her back home again and really appreciate your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have checked both the Risborough & Thame branch of Sprinz & Nash vets - no reports. Will e-mail posters to local 'Dog folk' in Risborough area. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The email I sent to Stokenchurch Dog Rescue has bounced back to me, so you might want to ring them instead. My husband is a member of Prestwood Theatre Group and he's taken a poster with him tonight to put up in the village hall.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Try Amersham police station to see if they have picked her up. They take strays to Green Meadows Kennels in Chalfont St Giles - 01494 872320. I will email them a poster, but ring them just incase. Also try Chiltern Dog Rescue - 01442 876009 - again I will email them and Stokenchurch Dog Rescue - 01494 482695. I work at the council offices in Amersham and will display some posters there. Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If she is caught up and barks the sound would travel more at night. Will tell friends over that way to listen out. They have kennels so she may hear their dogs and head that way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
