From owner "He came in of his own accord, my dad was just telling his friend there was no sighting and he looked out the back door and Billy was sitting there - didn't even bark!

The vet thinks he had been down a hole though due to the amount of bugs he had on him :( makes me feel sorry for the badgers, I'd like to take a tick hook to them!"

Copying from owner "Please do keep looking out, we are going to be frying sausages today. He is a very food-orientated dog who loves his home comforts so we are really hopeful. We are also in touch with Natural England - there are no indications that he is down the badger set but just in case x"

ROSIE IS HOME! Thank you so much to everyone for your help. She arrived home herself this morning, very muddy and tired. The hunt for Billy continues!

Update - still no sightings at all. They are suspected to be down a huge and ancient badger sett right by where they were last seen. I have recently learnt that Terrier means 'to burrow' in French - whilst the idea is awful to us apparently they have an underground sense and may be very happy under there but obviously the thought is very alarming. It's illegal to dig or interfere with setts so if that's the case not much we can do but wait and try to lure them out. We did a barbeque of liver and sardines to try and make a tasty(!) smell for them this morning, as well as lots of whistling, calling and listening but no signs yet. They have a blanket, toys, food and water and one of dad's shirts near-by in case they come up which is being checked regularly and will be refreshed tomorrow when the rain has passed. There are also blankets/beds outside the front and back of the house.

If they aren't in the sett, we have lots of dog walkers looking for them thank you to the amazing efforts of friends, family and strangers letting each other know to look and listen out for them. Ross and I were roaming about all day whistling, calling, looking in bushes and putting posters up. We also have lots of leaflets on their way tomorrow to hand out and stick up to make sure everyone knows to look out for then.

I really appreciate all the help and care in finding these little scraps - they are such glorious pups. We know from our beloved Topper that dogs will be dogs and will saunter back into our lives at a time that suits them - we are just trying to make that as appealing and easy as possible. Thank you for all your help and lovely words, please keep sharing and send any suggestions our way <3

From a dear friend:
'There are now posters up in Gomshall inc. the pubs, notice board, bus stop, phone box and I also put one through the vets door. Also in Shere, both pubs, Co-op, bus stop, cafe and notice boards.

Everyone I talked to was so kind, I spoke to a man who lives in Tower Hill who will keep an eye out and some dog owners said they would go looking on their walks tomorrow. A waiter in the restaurant in Shere suggested speaking to 'Farmer Tim' who owns most of the land in Tower Hill apparently'

They are suspected to be in the large badger set where they went missing so we are going to cook liver outside it tomorrow morning to try and lure them out. Badger experts have said it's a matter of waiting for them to emerge. Hopefully have got lots of people keeping eyes peeled if they do come out

Copying from DL Surrey FB page "One red harness/ jacket was found yesterday, very sandy, it looks like Billy's and complete. This might indicate he is in the area still, possibly down a badger sett. There are plenty of burrow holes in the immediate area so please could people listen very carefully, and if they hear any barking or noises underground which could be either of these dogs, please mark the exact spot if you can and notify owners immediately. Thank you."
