- Bertie has been caught this morning, his family managed to be in the right place at the right time! They are overwhelmed by the support & help of everyone's efforts & would like to thank everyone who has contributed to Bertie's safe capture! x

- Some more sightings in the area yesterday, the family are working hard towards his safe capture, Ray has kindly offered his help to Bertie's family which of course will be invaluable, it is also really important that people don't leave food out for Bertie please as this will compromise the feeding station x

- There have been no sightings reported today, the weather is grim so we hope he has found somewhere dry & is laying low, sadly the weather conditions mean that the drones can't fly today but the pilots are monitoring & will get up as soon as they can safely do so x

- We have decided against a ground search tomorrow, we have a really good understanding of Bertie's movements & if a lot of people arrive this could scare him off, if he moves on we will be back to square one, people who have asked if they can help will be asked to help poster & deliver flyers through the doors of the houses overlooking the fields x

- Thanks Sara, I will check with the family & let you know, I think this is a good thought but could be too confusing for him & jeopardise the actual scenting they are doing x
- 2018-01-26 15:23 SARA
- great let us know what time and place to meet up, do you think it would help if we all had a piece of clothing or a blanket of the owners cut into to pieces so he smells them if we are close, maybe kept in a plastic bag so it keeps the smell for when needed ??
- 2018-01-26 15:18 Lisa P - Regional Co-ordinator, Central
- Hi Sara, great idea, I'm sure the family would appreciate any help that is available & hoping the drones can fly too! x
- 2018-01-26 14:29 SARA
- is it worth organising a search party for tomorrow morning, it may be easier if we are all there at the same time working in different areas ?? x

- Bertie's family are working hard to safely capture him & are overwhelmed by the support Bertie is receiving from the local community. We now have a good idea of his route & with new sightings being regularly & accurately reported this is developing all the time, the family are scenting in the area & also trying things such as BBQ, leaving their car running etc. There has been a lot of help on social media to raise awareness so that people know who to contact when they see Bertie & posters & flyers are being distributed in the area, dog warden, police, local vets & farmers are all aware of Bertie as well as local businesses, it is hoped, weather permitting that drones will be able to go up soon, please remember if you see Bertie call the number on the poster, please dont chase him x

- Thank you both, more & more sightings are coming in & this is really helpful as it is building a really good picture of his movements & his route! His family are working hard to capture him safely & the better we can establish his movements the better this will be for their efforts to be successful x

- I was out today about 3.30pm walking along the bridleway from Charlton Road towards Hinton. I saw a lady with two dogs who told me she had seen Bertie 1/2 hour before. He didn’t react at all when she tried to entice him with a biscuit. She said he looked well and was on a mission walking quickly up the bridleway towards the main road to Charlton. I drove round to the other end and walked down but no sign, I also went back in to Hinton as that was the direction he was going in, but no sign unfortunately.

- Thank you Bobz, it is within the fields that run to the left of the road that runs from Charlton to Hinton x

- Brilliant suggestion on Twitter x "A great way to record exact location and time of a sighting if you have a smart phone is to open google maps and take a screen shot. It will show your exact location and time when you saw him"
- 2018-01-25 08:09 Lisa P - Regional Co-ordinator, Central
- If Bertie is seen PLEASE DO NOT try to catch him as he is now very scared, please call the number on the poster if possible whilst keeping Bertie in sight if possible. When reporting sightings, please try to give an exact location to enable his family to keep an accurate track of his movements on a map and please report the direction of travel if he was moving. Scenting guidance has been given & drones are hoped to fly on Saturday, more details will be given nearer to the time with any requirements of searchers from pilots x
