Good evening (posted to ‘Help find Meatball OX2 07481 343979’ FB group)

I have been following the Yateley, Hampshire sightings of a dog described as a small dog, poodle, miniature poodle, matted, brown, muddied, very dirty, very scared with some fur loss since yesterday (Monday 12th February) and have noted the following comments on many Facebook groups which I hope I can summarise here should it assist.

No photos or timings have been put forward but the comments about sighting locations, including many repeat areas, have been noted on Facebook groups since Monday 12th February and today, Tuesday 13th February and are thus far;

Cricketers Pub
Airfield
Cemetery Road
Vigo Lane
Simms Metals
Scrapyard
Blackbushe Industrial Estate
Tudor Drive
Forest

I read that the local (Hart District) Animal Warden and Kynoch Vets plus RSPCA have been informed of this loose dog plus telephone number of initial reporter - Susie -has been left with the local businesses, including The Cricketers PH.

I had previously shared the initial post on We Love Crowthorne Village to these groups for updating in due course and note Meatball’s dedicated DogLost link which may not have up to date info regarding these Yateley sightings of a similar dog.

I have bumped his page in light of info received from Network Rail this morning and need to bring greater awareness of him still classed as missing with a medical condition.
ClaireC
We, that have been involved with trying to locate Meatball who was reportedly deceased on the rail track, Carolyn has received and held a long conversation this morning with NR staff who have confirmed that there has been no findings of any deceased dog on either side of the rail tracks. The only deceased animal along there is a deer. There is no black fur to be found anywhere along the track. I think all efforts should now go into trying to find Meatball . We have spoken about his medical heart condition and the extremely cold temps along with the rivers that also are close by. I will ask admin to reissue alerts again to make any of the local volunteers aware he is still classed as missing and not deceased.Last edited: 2018-02-10 18:55:36 by ClaireC

Update from my conversation with both Network Rail and the company responsible for picking up deceased animals, be it domesticated pets or wildlife from rail tracks.

I have just got off from Company and Network Rail Control Cell has sent a NOM (basically a camera car) all the way down the track, which has shown no deceased dog down there. There is a deceased deer which will be picked up by Company maybe tomorrow. If they do get a call, and they are the only company that is used to pick up deceased animals, Terry will ring me. So they are aware of Black Toy Poodle missing but nothing has been seen as yet that any of them are aware of.

From Help Find Meatball- New Possible sighting last Tuesday:

A lady living in Wolvercote claimed she saw a black dog walking between the railway track under Wolvercote Bridge (Godstow Road) toward north at 11:45am last Tuesday (30th Jan. 50 minutes after Meatball was lost).
There is a canal beside the railway track and a Wolvercote lake and woodland area beside it!!!! Meatball might hide there!!! There's a gate entering the lake woodland area!
Dear friends, please also search around that area, please! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

PS. I've called British Transport Police and GWR, but they didn't have any report regarding any dogs on the railway track.
ClaireC
Sadly for Jonathan dogs the scent has to be under ideally 18 hours old and in view of length of time now it is too old for them.?
ClaireC
I will approach Jonathan to see if this is too far for him and the “boys” to try to track in view of worrying medical condition.?

There’s no such van there. I just checked the parking lot again this evening and no sign of Meatball. Will keep searching! Please help! Thank you. I have 1000 pounds reward for the finder, thank you for the finder’s kindness.
DogLostOwl
Is there any kind of snack van in the car park, or anywhere near the reserve? He is likely to be scavenging somewhere like that.

Still no news on Meatball. We are trying to confirm whether the dog seen in a nearby car park on the afternoon of 31st was Meatball. Carolyn & family have postered, scented & door knocked. They BBQ last night. Hoping Meatball will venture out in the sunshine today x
Carolyn
No harness on Meatball anymore!!! A dog found Meatball's harness from the bush in Burgess Field this morning so Meatball has got nothing on him but Microchip now! I am still working very hard to search for him. Please help and thank you very much for all your kind effort and help. I will reward 1000 pounds for finding Meatball back. Thank you.
