- Sophie and I have been out searching the route from where they went for a walk to the point of being last seen today. They’ve had a drone out yesterday and also a pack of some 30 beagles trying to see if they could flush him out if he was hiding. They have had a lot school boarders out helping to search, especially within the first hour of being lost in the immediate area of last being seen. All the maintenance team, staff and security know that Oban is missing. When they are walking the grounds they are keeping an eye out for him. Sophie is going to research, through the school tonight, for someone from Stowe staff to use their boat and go around the couple of smaller lakes very near to where he was last seen. She is also going to enquiry about any divers again through the school at the moment. Although the lakes are not deep they are silted up and obviously deeper in the middle. This is the main worry that with the area in deep snow on Sun and with his failing eyesight that he may have gone onto the ice and it’s given way. Sophie is going to let me know if she able to secure any divers etc. Last edited: 2018-03-08 17:54:14 by ClaireC

- Sophie is going to ask the school in regard to a sub aqua club and also the maintenance team over there in regard to the lake. I will catch up with Sophie later on.

- As this is National Trust area, the use of posters are restricted. What I have suggested is to use A5 size and put on sides of poo bins in the car park.

- Dear all. No luck with the drone but I am so grateful. Thank you so much for all of your help!
- 2018-03-07 21:36 ClaireC
- I am informed that drones are not allowed to overfly National Trust areas. I am guessing that the drone that went up today, flew over the farmland as opposed to area actually lost in.Last edited: 2018-03-07 22:13:18 by ClaireC

- Sorry to say that I am unable to find a suitable scent tracker dog to help in a search. Please Sophie can you register Oban with DroneSAR on the two groups. Please can you also remind any volunteers that they are going into National Trust grounds and may need membership. Here if you need any further help or advice.

- We are now back but very sadly we saw nothing. On the plus side there are lots of dog walkers who are aware of missing Oban. Security guy I noticed had a poster by his barrier and because people have to wait is easily spotted. Our friend who is in charge of the maintenance teams, of which there seem to be a few out, seem to be aware and I am fairly confident that they will have been briefed about him. My contact with tracker dogs is unable to come over this week. I’ve yet to ask my other contact which I hope to do so this evening. A suggestion of a drone I think would be good in view of the fact that it is very rural over there. I do wonder if this was Oban ?sighted by the Burcott Farm shop though as seems quite a distance for a dog that is virtually blind. Just my opinion on that one though. I still remain cautious about the lake which is nearby and think this does need checking fairly regularly. I will post again later in regard to another scent dog.,

- 2018-03-05 22:11 Mary
- Is there somewhere sheltered near where he was last seen you can leave some bedding and some smelly food and perhaps his favourite toy if you have not already done so.

- Can go out tomorrow morning for a while and have a look. I don’t think he will have gone too far away from where lost. There is a small cafe around there I think and maybe an idea to give them a poster to see if they will display.
