- Have now discovered that the 2 dogs on the A3 actually belonged to someone we vaguely know - by coincidence it was a mother and 10 month old daughter, just like mine. I rang them as they live up the A3 where the accident was and also to tell them about mine as they breed PJRTs so may be offered breeding bitches, you never know. Neither was actually killed in the incident, although one was quite badly injured and they are both now home with our friends safe and sound. Thanks for the tip about scanning - I wonder why I've gone to the expense of chipping all my dogs, when none of the authorites seem to be consistent in scanning!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Most police stations do not have scanners and it is not law to scan a dog-so they may have been missed-do not rely on them scanning. It would be a rare case if they did.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- There was a piece in the local paper about the 2 PJRTs on the A3 which caused an accident and one was killed and the police did indeed attend. Very different from what the police told Caroline's sister! Have been in touch with police using the incident ref from the paper, to see if they were mine, maybe stolen then abandoned but no response from them so far. Unlikely as mine are chipped and the police would have scanned. Will let you know if there is an update.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- So grateful to you for this info, Caroline's sister. I am in touch with dog warden, police, kennels and none found still. I know there is a travellers site up that way so the ones you saw may belong to them - suppose we'll never know if they were mine!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi I am Carolines sister - (see post below) she has asked me to post a message. I was driving back from guildford last week on the a3 (I think it was Monday) and saw two dogs on the side of the road, running along the grass of the hard shoulder. I thought they were jack russells at the time - definately white and brown). As caroline described in her post - she called the police for me. I dont know if these were your dogs? You can contact me through caroline if you want to speak with me about this. in hindsight I should have stopped... abi Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My sister called me on Thursday asking what to do as she had just seen 2 JR dogs running along the side of the A3 near the Hurtmore turnoff. I work in Bournemouth but called Surrey Police and reported it to them I told them I was worried that they could cause an accident, but equally was really worried about the dogs. The police said they would send someone out. My sister then heard a traffic announcement saying that there were was traffic build up due to loose dogs on the A3 and presumed that people/police would pick them up. I called the police the following morning and asked for an update - they attended the scene but found nothing. I was not given a crime ref number. I am so sorry to read about your dogs - I hope you find them soon. Please let me know if you would like my sisters details incase you need anymore information.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm not sure if this could be connected but on Feb 25th I heard that 2 Jack Russell puppies were seen at the side of the A3 by the Hurtmore Turnoff, members of a dog forum tried to get there to help look for them and police were on the scene. The police were unable to find the pups. I hope you get your dogs back soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks for all your help guys - did not post before as didn't realise this was how it all worked - sorry! My lovely girls are still not back. In case it helps, they went missing from Thursley (GU8) and may have gone to Hankley or Thursley Commons or Devil's Punchbowl - all close by. Not many passing cars here, but lots of footpaths and walkers. They had collars and tags also. Has anyone else had an odd Polish sounding woman call asking random questions???!
