Agree with you Doglady and yes TracyB this dog is too young to be bred from.Indescriminate breeding is getting out of hand because people think they can earn a 'fast buck' without any consideration to the dog or the breed. Neutering is a good option and not only on the dogs! Out of the eight pups I wonder how many will end up in loving homes and how many will go to rescue homes. Only time will tell. rottiesnstaffs good that you had made that point she was already pregnant before she went missing and a big yes money dose come to mind, it has been said that there are forever homes lined up for these lovely pups well I hope they will not be used as you say rottiesnstaffs for breeding, if anyone wants these lovely dogs and are intending to keep them as loving pets then there are a lots in rescues that need homes, but I guess the people that are getting these dogs from random breeding then it is easy because they don't have to be vetted that well, and would most lightly be turned down by a rescue. Dog gestation periods can go a week either way, and with the stressful situation Fudge was in I would not be suprised if she went into an early labour. Poor thing and thankfully she is home and neutered. A bitch in season, or about to go in season, should never be left unattended.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry meant to say "will hopefully be neutered" so that nothing like this ever happens again to the poor darling.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think you all may have things a little bit mixed up here. According to riverlady the pups were born on 12th April. Dogs gestation of pregnancy is 9 weeks which is 63 days. By my calculations, please feel free to correct me if i am wrong, Fudge was mated and conceived these puppies on the 9th february. Fudge didnt go missing until the 17th february so she was already 8 days pregnant when she went missing. Money comes to mind and as SB said another 8 staffies in the world that will probably at some point end up abandoned or used for breeding, fighting and abused or put to sleep cos no-one wants them!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Fudge, hope that you managed your first night with all those babies, you are only a baby yourself, you poor thing. It's such a shame that we can't appeal to someone in authority to stop this sort of thing happening.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What bittersweet news, it's wonderful you have her back but dreadful she has been used to breed at such a young age, whoever had her may have had their own dog-which probably wouldnt have been castrated. I'm sure if you need homechecks done when the time comes people will help you- there are a lot of staffy's struggling for homes. Well done for taking her back & coping with the pups. I trip to the vets asap for the obvious as well as tag & chip.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased Fudge was found in the nick of time, sounds like the thieves didn't want the bother of the pups... what a crazy dangerous world we live in! Further to Riverlady's earlier post, I see DogLost has two Groups on Facebook, inc one for helpers! could be a good tool...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Te owner said the RSPCA would not tell him whereabouts the house was ? There are no suspects. Owner obviously busy with new arrivals and has some forever homes lined up. They are just so happy to have Fudge back home where she belongs. They were ready for the work ahead of them. Good that she was chipped.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home FUDGE well done the RSPCA for getting her out and who ever tip you off she was there, Sorry she was mistreated, I'm sure and I hope you was advised to give her lots of support with her supplements and food to help her feed her new litter and also a lot of TLC. And please when it is time for the pups to go make sure they go to good homes and vet the people properly, because there are to many of these dogs being breed and the pups are sent to the wrong type who just abuse this lovely breed. I wish her well with her pups and I wish her a speedy recovery and hope this is the last time she will be breed. keep her safe and a good eye on her and her pups when in the garden. I'm disgusted. Fudge is stolen, abused and used, and now there are 8 more staffies in the world to be found homes. Are the RSPCA going to investigate the matter???Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased that this beautiful girl is back home safe and sound, albeit with 8 puppies. Poor girl to be mum to 8 pups when she's still so very young herself. Very sad. Hope the people who treated her so badly get their comeuppance in due course. Welcome home Fudge and family!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
