Ive done an 8 mile walk around Ashley Walk, plus driven (slowly) in my landrover on a number of days all over the back roads a radious of about 5 miles from Godshill including gorley, linwood, fritham, stocton, ibsley, hyde, nomans land, landford, bramsure, woodgreen, castle hill etc etc, and stopped in all car parks, any high ground ive scanned the surrounding countryside with powerful binoculars, lots of dog and other walkers aware but no sign at all. Lots of posters still up, I would have thought if she were hiding in vicinity another dog may have sniffed her out as there are so many dogs running around. How far could she have gone ? Any other ideas where she might be ? And checked out the area nr horton someone mentioned but no sign.Last edited: 2018-04-13 10:41:39 by boristhebold

I have walked the route of Megs last walk with her owners twice now but no sign. Lots of people I have met out walking are aware of Meg but still no sightings. There are a couple of food stations set up around the area. We just need one confirmed sighting even if it’s an old one. It’s a vast area and I walked for four hours today all around the area and saw no one so it is possible she is scared and hiding away.

Might not bee anything to do with Meg , but Sarah had this message......Just had a report of a black dog with white blaze on Horton Road, heading towards Wigbeth by Meadow View Caravan Park at 7am this morning. We have left message for caravan park., was it your dog? did you see it ? thank you

There is a gentleman who walks his black cocker spaniel and (I think) 2 other dogs every day at Godshill Wood, we spoke to him when putting up posters a week or so ago. His dog doesn't have Meg's white patch.
Sarah
Thank you so much for looking for her.

The pictures of Meg were taken within the last year. She still looks the same but probably very dirty.
boristhebold
Went for a slow drive around Castle Hill nr Godshill Wood today, spoke to a couple who had seen a black cocker off the lead walking with a man up a road nearby, however they said the dog looked bigger and older than in the posters. I am presuming the poster pictures are recent so couldnot be the dog that is lost ?
Sarah
Thank you everyone for looking for Meg. We are putting posters up all the time but sometimes they are being taken down. Please, please keep looking but don’t approach her as she will be very scared. Thank you again.
Bickton
I've been walking in Godshill Wood, where there are lots of posters, and everyone there was aware of Meg and looking, but at Ashley Walk I didn't see one poster and no one seemed to know about her. I walked down from the road to the wood and all round it with my four labs who always spot any other dog. There is plenty of water and plenty of cover, but it is possible that she has been picked up by someone as there are a lot of walkers around.

Did an 8 mile walk from High Corner Inn on Saturday up to back end of Ashley Walk and round back to High Corner Inn via ridge way and numerous enclosures, no sign unfortunately, just wondering is there any research analysis of where lost dogs statisticly head to when lost or where found etc, could she be trying to pick up scent back to family home. Also wondering about cattle grids and fences would she likely go through a cattle grid and under fences as there are so many in that surrounding area it might if she would not normally go through them to pinpoint routes she may have taken.Last edited: 2018-04-08 08:42:24 by boristhebold

Have you put any poster up at any local school and colleges...children don't miss a thing. Put some posters in post boxes for postmen to take back to the sorting office.

Drove slowly around the area yesterday, about 3 miles radious of Ashley Walk car park, all over the back roads in my landrover, stopped to speak to a walker who was also out looking, nothing spotted unfortunately, also went back to Ashley walk car park around 8.30pm and left some cooked sausages by a tree and had a look around the gorse bushes etc in the vicinity, alot of forest animals out ponies and deer but no dogs. Will head out that way at weekend for a long walk. One thing I did notice was that I only saw two posters, one at Ashley Walk and one by a gate about two miles away, I think you need more posters around the area including perhaps near linwood by the High Corner Inn and Redshoot Inn as many people would see them there and a dog could easily get from Ashley Walk to that area through the forest.

I have found the post on the New Forrest missing dogs group.

Just spoke to someone on my dog walk who saw a black dog running down Pentons Hill Stuckton on Sunday. When it saw them it rushed off down Frogham Hill heading towards Hyde Lane/ Fordingbridge. It wouldn't have got through the cattle grid or gate though to get into stuckton rd. Might not be Meg. But thought it worth mentioning. Knee high they said. They were visiting the Forest. So not local.
Will keep looking with my dog and we walk off track a lot. Is meg timid with other dogs?

Possible sighting on Sunday reported on New Forrest group. I have looked for it but can't find it anywhere to copy and paste to here.
Maybe someone else has seen it and can do it for me.

Posters left as above (except Frogham), and details left with Forest Vets in Fordingbridge.

I can do some laminated posters for Godshill Cricket Pitch, Ashley Walk and Bramshaw Telegraph car parks. Depending where she went off it may also be worth postering Abbots Well at Frogham, and Fritham. Please say if you want these too. The whole area is very busy with walkers especially at weekends, there will be lots of people on the lookout for her.
