Great news Misty is home. So pleased for her mum and dad. Well done finders, lucky girl to be found by such caring people. Border collies are just the best!! 🐶

Thank you once again to all those who helped or offered comments and assistance. I got the names slightly wrong, it was Jodie and Jason. They happened to be driving back at 2AM and saw her at Dove Stone and very kindly did a 20 minute detour out of their journey to deliver her here at 2.30AM. I don't know exactly where she was found and I didn't think I could really detain them for prolonged questioning at that ungodly hour, but she was clean and dry and seemed totally unfazed by her experience. She went straight to the food bowls and hoovered up the remains of Zak and Ellie's tea that they had left earlier, then curled up on her bed and went to sleep!
Mary
I can't tell you how delighted I am to read this update. Well done Jason and Jamie. Welcome home Misty. Glad you got some sleep Steve.

MISTY IS HOME. THANK YOU TO JAIME AND JASON WHO FOUND HER AT DOVE STONE AND BROUGHT HER BACK AT 2.30AM. EPIC.

AND THANK YOU TOO TO DOGLOST.
Mary
I see Claire is going to check where Misty went missing in the morning, which is the other place she may make her way back to. I'm not in your are so can't help search but I hope Misty is home very soon. Last edited: 2018-03-26 01:23:45 by Mary

Unfortunately Dove Stone is rather a long way from where we live. But thank you for the thought. I'll be sitting up all night anyway and if her little face should appear outside the door, be sure I will be straight over there!
Mary
Hi Steve sorry to see Misty is missing. It is not unusual for Collies to make there own way home in the early hours, so hope this is the case here.
SteveRudd
Claire if you're still up and reading this I'll be sitting up all night in my wheelchair in case anybody finds her and calls so however early in the morning it is if you DO see her, don't hesitate to call. I know farms have incredibly early starts! :-) and thanks again. You are a star.

Thank you Claire that is very kind of you. I have actually phoned three or four of the farms in the area myself tonight in the hopes that she might turn up in their yard. I can't bear the thought of her out there on those barren hills all alone and freezing cold tonight. Thank God the snow has gone. My wife is too done in to go back and look tonight - they'd already done 11 miles before Misty went missing and then she spent a couple of hours searching on top of that. She is pretty certain that Misty wasn't in the bywash. We're still hoping that she'll find her way back down to the road and someone will stop, read her tag, and call either of our mobiles
Claire
Hi Steve, I'm one of the farmers from the farm above where Misty went missing. I'll be at the farm in the morning and will go to to where she was last seen and look for her. Seems quite strange she's disappeared but I'm sure she will show up by tomorrow! I'll call if I spot her

Re: The Bywash - if we're talking about the same thing, my wife did check around the area where she went missing and she wasn't obviously in the Bywash. I'm not au fait with the Dove Stone area - is there like a warden on the site of the reservoir there or anyone there I could get in touch with on a Sunday night
Claire
The bywash runs all the way from Greenfield reservoir to yeoman hey, it is possible to walk the length of it from top to bottom. Dogs will not get out unless they can jump really well
Claire
Has anybody checked the bywash running up the side of the footpath by yeoman hey? She might be in there

Other info from Misty’s owner xx

One minute she was trotting along the bridle path with my wife. My wife noticed that she was on her own and went back to check if the dog was just sniffing out something in the grass or something - no sign of the dog. She retraced her steps and searched for a couple of hours but had to give up when it fell dark. The dog may have been spooked by something and turned round and gone back the other way, but it is a nine-mile long bridle path that way, and impossible to search properly in darkness.
