I am very, very sorry for your loss, but please try and take consolation in that they were happy and doing what they loved to do, chase rabbits and run around and they weren't and will never be separated, and they are now home and safe with the family that loves them. Sleep tight little babies, sweet dreams xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sorry I havent been able to post for a few days, but I wanted to thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts - they have helped me tremendously! All at DL - my mum phoned me and read me the letter you had sent this was so nice and completely unexpected, so thank you and thank you for all your help and advice during the weeks my little babies were missing. - Keep up the good work, you do a fantastic job and I will help whenever I canxxxx I have decided to plant a tree where Pepper and Meg are burried, that way there is a perminant feature to remind me of them. I still keep going over the what if's, but I am sure this will get easier with time.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please dont blame yourself- I can only imagine the heartache you feel right now. You will find comfort in the fact you have them back, together where they loved. Sometimes no matter what you do things like this happen. Animals are sent to enrich our lives & sometimes it doesn't take very long before their job is done. Pepper & Meg were truly loved & in time this will make things easier. Please dont beat yourself up with what if's. I lost my collie to cancer & did 'what ifs' many times, it didn't help & only made me feel worse when common sense kept telling me I'd done as much as I could & it was his time to go. You know you loved Pepper & Meg and searched everywhere for them. They will find a way to let you know they are happy & not to worry anymore. There are many people here that are here if you need them & dont be worried about needing a shoulder to cry on. Many of us are now friends & only met through here.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have managed to get them back and have laid them both to rest together at the small holding they went missing from, not far from the chickens they loved to play with..........at least now I know where they are and I can go down and talk to them when ever I want, plus they are together. Dad please look after them!xxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Im sorry i didnt mean it to sound like it was any way your fault. I didnt know if someone had found them and harmed them thats all. A good few years back something very similar happened near us and kids weere to blame. It was just a tragic accident in your case, and im sorry once again if i caused offence xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Why?? I have been up all night wondering what I could have done to have prevented this from happening. The treatment works was the first place we looked as there is an abbundence of rats and rabbits running around. We repeatedly went back there looking, even throughout the night they went missing..........we ruled this out as we thought one of them, but not both.........sadly we were wrong.........I just hope they did not suffer in any way.........AAAAAGH my poor babies.......I still cannot believe it....I will never forget them, I just wish I had them here with me where they belong. The RSPCA officer said that he was satisfied that it was a tragic accident - he told me that they looked as though they had been chasing a rabbit and thought the surface was solid.......god, I cant get my head around it at all, all the calls we have had reporting sightings and the pranksters that wanted to extract money from us, why oh why has this happened like this, I am so confused!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just had a phone call from the RSPCA to say the bodies of pepper and meg have been recovered from a water treatment works not far from where they went missing. Can I please ask that their details be removed from your site. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help and support over the last few weeks ? I just wish the outcome was better news. I want to remain on the list as a helper and will do all I can to help other owners to get their dogs back...e mail from owner. Hi hopeithelps! Thank you for keeping a look out for meg and pepper, I really appreciate any help!! I did look at the JRT found by bill the selby dog warden - unfortunately it wasnt pepper, but I do hope her owners came forward to rescue her!! I should have posted on the site earlier confiming that I had checked that dog out, but it slipped my mind - im not consentrating as much as I should. I keep thinking that I have missed something! I have been out around the local area postering in shops pubs lamp-posts and dog walking areas. Ive had an ad running in the paper for the last 6 weeks, but unfortunately now my funds have run out so I cannot afford to run another o( I have registered on all the missing dog websites I can think of, sent missing posters to all the dog wardens in the area, kennels and vets as well as bording kennels - can anyone else think of something I have missed?????????? I have even got a wanted ad on the free ads - I cant believe they are not back home yet!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Audrey - thank you again for looking out for pepper & meg. There are posters all around temple newsam and the park keepers etc are aware that they are missing and keeping a look out - I managed to get to the training class and hand out flyers on Sunday, but no one has seen them. I am redesigning the posters, well the way I do them, it seems that water can get in through the holes I punched - AAAAAAGGGH!!!!!!! Had no calls from the ad I ran in the YEP - I cant believe it, I really thought that by putting a 1,000 reward on would tempt these people to come forward. I am feeling really low - I just feel like these two have dissapeared off the face of the earth - I dont know what to do next I cant just sit and wait - its driving me mad. Does anyone have any ideas???Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went to Bullerthorpe Lane yesterday, but had not seen your note with whereabout then, so I went down the wide path/road and also along oneof the other paths, alot of the posters have been affected by the rain and didn't have any covered ones with me. Have you put any posters up in Temple Newsam car parks and also in the cafe, there is also a dog training class on a Sunday morning in the field by the car park past the golf course. I couldn't get to the game fair but my daughter went on Monday but said she did not see any posters, so don't know who took them down, you would have thought they would be willing for them to stay up, but maybe we are not allowed to poster there without putting some money over the counter, words fail me. I will try to get to Temple Newsam again this weekend. Take care and keep your chin and spirits up. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Audrey - thank you so much x Yes there is still access to temple newsam from Bullerthorpe Lane. Meg and Pepper were apparently first sighted near to the woods, which lead through to Temple Newsam, the second sighting was a bit further down - there is a gate with concrete blocks under it, as you duck under the gate, turn left and walk up the lane a bit, there is a syle leading into a field - this is where they were seen and where I have left my belongings. I have been back every day since for hour at a time and given flyers to lots of people in the area, but I havent seen them o( I am going back today and my partner has got some spare time later, so he is going back with a few of his colleagues. I am so worried, Bullerthorpe Lane is really busy - traffic flying up and down all day, including great big refuse trucks. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have decided to run another advert in the YEP next week - this time we have been allowed to put the reward amount on it - I am just hoping that this will tempt someone to bring my babies back! I am missing them so much and feel completely helpless. Had a possible sighting on Bullerthorpe Lane near Colton in Leeds - been out for last two days searching. Ive left some of my belongings in the area, so hopefully this will attract both Meg and Pepper and let them know I am out there looking for them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have emailed Calendar also - god I hope they agree to help us, we could really do with the publicity right now. Does DL have any clout with the Gypsy Liaison Officers - would this be a good place to start in building up a relationship with the travelling community - I am really struggling to get the GLO's to sit up and take notice (only Selby GLO has been supportive!) I just feel this might be a safer and more productive means of building the relationship.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I work for a plant hire company & 2 of our machine's were taken from around/in Doncaster in Feb. I know around Armthorpe is bad for travellers & things going missing. There are links from Castleford area out to Doncaster so it is perfectly feasible that dogs have gone into that area. Without been able to see & photo dogs on all the traveller sites it's difficult. i just wish we could get more of the travellers on our side- dont know how to do this as it needs trust on both sides. Whilst we know that all travellers are not dog snatchers & thieves, so often they are involved. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

In the Selby Times this week there was a couple of lines saying that 9 puppies were stolen from West Haddlesey ? said they were worth ?2750 and included 2 Jack Russell breeds (?not sure what they mean by that). Double aarggh - just typed a really long message which disappeared when pressed submit. First aargh is cos I didnt read the link til I got home from work - I work in Seacroft close to n parkway and could have gone out at lunch and not back at work til Tues, sorry dont live in Leeds. Had typed out school addresses and links - there is a few primaries close to N Parkway - Beechwood being the closedst, Our Lady's and Grange Farm not too far away. The David Young Academy is on N Parkway - website - www.dyca.org.uk. Pm me if you want me to and I could have a go at emailing lots of the local schools - Education Leeds have the email add of the headteachers on it's site, dont know how that would go down but I could give it a go. If so will email m & p and coconuts 2. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Boxer Mum and Luby - I am going to try the YEP again today. Got a text of someone that lives near the Fellmonger Pub in Seacroft to say a small brown/black dog was spotted on the fields on Tues night (they were 85% sure that it was Meg)- went to the area yesterday, but no sign although dog walkers in the area did say a small, very friendly dog had been spotted barking at horses that are tethered on a green just off the fields. I am going to go back there today and put some more posters up, but have no transport until later this afternoon - if there is anyone in the area that can get there before me to see if there are any sightings I would be grateful. Also, there is a School nearby (its just off North Parkway) does anyone know the name of the school - thought it might be worth trying to email them a copy of the posters and ask them to keep an eye out. I will do anything I can to get my babies back, safe and sound back home where they belong!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was in touch with the lady who had the boxer dog stolen last week. She didnt use doglost as she was not good on a computor. She rang me this tuesday night to say she had got her dog back from a lady who had bought him from an advert in a surermarket. The yep had promised to print her story last week but it was the photo and ad she put the pet section that brought her dog back. It cost her ?200 but she said it was worth every penny as she had the call as soon as the paper went on sale. We were lucky getting the media coverage straight away for cassie and allie but her dog had been missing 12 days. Im sure a picture in the pet section is worth a try. Sorry you still have no news of Pepper and Meg. But wanted to bring your attention to the fact that there was an article in the YEP tonight, and I don't mean in the Pets section, it was in the main part of the newspaper. Reporting that a boxer dog had been stolen from the owners garden in Farnley, it's on page 15. Could you approach the YEP and ask if they would print a plea for you and Coconuts 1, to make an appeal for your babies safe return home? And also to make the public aware that it seems there are definitely Dog Thieves in the Leeds area. We only know about the ones missing on" Dog Lost " but I bet there are a lot more! as not everyone knows about this website. Hope you and Coconuts 1 are soon reunited with your beloved pets. Your all in my thoughts and prayers. ChrisLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have teamed up with Coconuts1 and we are going out tomorrow postering together - we are both struggling with how vast an area we need to cover and wondered whether there was anyone out there who could help us with the postering. We are getting worried that if we dont cover an area, then we might never get our dogs back........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Megan&Peppers owner it will really help if you team up (if not already) with Cocunuts1 and poster for each other. Take a look a Bazzie (South East E4) reunited 28.2.08 she is elderly and was living rough for three weeks. Thanks to the helpers for all the advice and helping owners in their search. Sorry you have still not had any sightings of Meg and Pepper as yet. I can't imagine the stress your going through! My hubby is a postman/driver, and is based at the Seacroft Depot. He delivers parcels to Barwick so said he will keep an eye out for them. He also says it would be a good idea to contact the Seacroft Delivery Depot and the Potterton Depot with posters and descriptions of both Meg and Pepper for the postpersons to look out for them both, as the post persons do cover a lot of ground. Hope this helps, and hope your babies are soon home safe and sound!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I am willing to do anything at all to find our girls. We are going crazy with worry, im trying to be positive but its so difficult knowing they are out there and we aren?t with them. I have never felt so helpless in my entire life ! At first we thought they have gone down a hole but Coco can be heard for miles when she starts shrieking. We have had a listening device out so we don?t think that?s the case anymore. Im really feeling for you and I think a joint effort can only do good. All my guys know about your babies. Me and a friend are going out tomorrow with posters again so I will print some off of Meg and Pepper too. We have hit most of the dog walks but I want to push a bit further out and start with vets and shops. Going to have a drive around some of the estates and speak to some people. If you want me to do anything else please let me know. A friend did call the radio stations for us but they weren?t interested so please let me know what comes back xxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If these two have been stolen - it may not have been the same boys that stole Cassie n Ali but the press may run an article highlighting more dogs stolen in a similar area. It may be that someone has just picked them up thinking they were strays - posters are needed to highlight them - cant have enough posters. If your border is anything like mine she'd have gone to anyone - just loves people. Hope you hear something soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to hear your dogs are missing. Im 100% certain the same will not have happened to them as did with Cassie and Allie as so much publicity was given to them that I am confident the same boys will never take a dog again. However all the dog owners in the Seacroft area were so kind and helpfull to us that I can only recomend you hand out posters there. I hope you find thm soon Cath xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My little girls were happily playing with the chickens on the small holding one minute and the next they were gone. Loads of us started searching for them as soon as we realised they had gone missing, but they were nowhere to be seen - If they had wandered off, I am sure we would have caught up with them. Any helpadvice anyone can give would be grately appreciated! Thank youLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to hear of the loss of Pepper and Meg. I live just off Barwick Road on the LS15/14 border so will keep a close eye out for them. If you think they were stolen try contacting the YEP to run an article, as they did for Ali and Cassie, the stolen boxers who were happily reunited with their owners thanks to a lady seeing the article and phoning the owners to say she had been offered them for a sum of money!! Anything is worth a try! Hope their both home safe and sound soon!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How did these two go missing - did they wander off or were they taken - Barwick is only a few miles from Seacroft - probably the same distance as Shadwell is - i.e. Cassie and Ali missing boxers now reunited. Could someone give owner adviceLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We would like to offer a generous cash reward for the safe return of Pepper and her best friend (Border Terrier Puppy) Meg. These dogs are dearly loved by both adults and children alike and their disappearance is proving extremely distressing. If you have any information, then please do contact us. Thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
