Agree with buffysmum and doglady ! As i said it is the LAW To have your dogs secured so wheather or not people let there dogs do it like i said it is against the LAW ! you would not have yourr kid travelling in you open back truck or whatever unsecured ! i would report anyone straight away as it is stupid ! if you are in a smash your dog would get thrown out of the truck like a ragdoll !! And how was he found ? still no updates ?? stay safe ant ! x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Here Here buffysmum, I to have lived in a rural area and I have never seen a dog untethered, if this dog had jump in front of a car traveling behind and coursed a accident then the police would have done the driver for a unsafe load, and the RSPCA would also have something to say about this to. But the owner could not have been very caring of this very young dog otherwise they would not have done this. And if I was traveling behind this truck I would have reported it to the police and the RSPCA. And I do not feel this is fault finding at all. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Corbiere, I live really rural and do not know one farmer that leaves his dog untethered (short so that if it does jump it wont hang itself)and just because you and your racing trainer friends do it it does not make it right. You cannot guarantee that the dog will not jump out. Stop using word like censorious - if the cap fits. That dog was a pup and should have been tethered if the owner cared about it One thing don't bother to PM me if you have anything to say do it publicly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Obviously not all country people on here! Working dogs of all sorts have been travelling in the back of open jeeps and pick-up trucks for generations! - also racing trainers' dogs etc etc... It's extremely rare for one to jump out. Possibly not a good idea for a very young dog on an A road tho! - But a few of us can be awfully censorious on here... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well how lucky is that. I know its not against the law to have no brains but it is to have an animal unsecured in the back of a pick up. If ever I see it I always take a note of the registration number and then telephone the RSPCA and usually pop in to the local police station (when it is open) and have a word. The owner is obviously not a 'doglover' then I take it. Don't suppose it will make the slightest difference. If a dog jumped or fell out in front of my car and caused an accident, apart from claiming the usual stuff I would be claiming for the emotional trauma that it would cause. Glad you are back Ant. Sorry your owner didn't take more care of you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

happy and magical ending welcome home ANT hope you get a chip and that you have a car harness on in future !! I was told that dogs have to be strapped in just like our kids do as they can still go through the windscreen and also jump from cars causing accidents ! So its for our safety and also the dogs aswell !!! Can't wait to hear how you was found x x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
