This really is an amazing story. So pleased Tanner is safely home with you. Special thanks must go to the man who originally found her and did his best to find her owner, with no help from the police, and also Jazzie who, not only took her in, but took the time and trouble to locate her mum. Now that you have registered with DL, please keep a look out for the many other babies still missing and who desperately need help to get home safely. thank you also to Tanner's mum for immediately being so keen to now help find others.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so pleased for you, what an amazing story! Please keep your eyes peeled for Sia - I am going to try to get to Lockinge to do handouts but would really appreciate people keeping their eyes peeled for her (remember to look at her front paws, they are lumpy, arthritic and easy to spot!) I think someone has taken her in and just hasnt got around to getting her microchip looked at or has no intention of doing it....Tanners story has revved me back up again.....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Flaggbag, yes it was Tanner in the ad Trader. Jazzie, welcome on board, you did an incredible thing this weekend, without your doggie detective skills, it is unlikely Tanner would be at home in bed with her family right now. I hope what you did this weekend has proven how important a site like this is and that our success also relies on people like you taking the time to care. Well done and please spread the word and keep your eyes peeled. Tanner teaches us all that our dogs are being stolen indiscriminately and being taken across the country before we even know it. thank you, thank you thank you from doglost and tanner!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there, I have registered with doglost after having Tanner brought to our door and amazingly managing to track down her owner through doglost - I still can't believe the weekends events. Just wanted to let doglost know that I had seen publicity about Monkey in the area which is why I checked the website - so pleased I did. Hope Monkey is found too soon. Miracles do happen!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh! how wonderful what a lovely outcome. Poor little Tanner heatbreaking to think what a journey she has had. I think the poster "Tanner is useless at catching things" did the trick and was therefore dumped. Fantastic to have you on board Fiona just what we at Doglost need wonderful switch on people! Cheers! I can feel you grinning from ear to ear!! Ok can you have a look at Whizz (patterdale) and Basil (Border Terrier) both from SN postcodes.........there will probably be some more dogs from the South East area as you are right on the SW/SE border for DL, so fish around on the site and see what you can find, and link in with Corbiere who is our PtP guru........be sure to post on the dogs thread what you have done so that the owners know. Oh and also Maggie (lurcher from GU postcode) and Monkey, beatiful black greyhound stolen from GU postcode..........oh there are so many, but when we have a day like today with Tanner it makes it all worthwhile! Thank you Fiona for thinking of others and long may it last as you are obviously someone who will rise to a challenge and not give up! Well done for being so proactive with Tanner, you worked hard and it paid off. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes please Corbiere! Publicity for DL is good, and as todays exciting events with Tanner have proved, our site is an invaluable tool for anyone finding a dog. Years ago very probably Tanner would never have been re-united with him mom, but thanks to the power of the internet she is HOME! I was delighted to read your post Fiona and to feel your joy...............how wonderful for you to have Tanner back where she belongs with you! I will give you a call tomorrow, and I would dearly love the details of the man who found Tanner if you could PM them to me. Wonderful news too that you will stay on as a DL helper..............that is what this site is built on..............volunteers who work hard to help others be re-united with their pets, and so its important that we all unite to show people who steal dogs that THEY WON'T WIN! Sleep tight both of you, so happy for you! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everybody, just walked in the door with my beautiful puppy dog!!!! She's flat out sleeping on my bed at present. Probably slightly stuffed from the pork pie, sausage roll and burger king she had at the service station on the way back. Can't believe we have actually got her back. Both terriers and cats are over the moon. She will be in the vets first thing in the morning for her brand new chip and also to treat her sore eye. A few little nicks here and there and a sore bit under her chin, it looks like she's had a muzzle on. God knows why though as she wouldn't hurt a flea. She's a bit skinny and half the size she was when she went, but certainly not lost her appetite. The story goes: A man called Dave was working locally near Guildford and found he wandering on the heath at 7am yeaterday. He took her to the local vets to check for a chip, when discovering she wasn't chipped he called the local police. The police were most unhelpful, so he went to the nearest house. They told him to try a couple of doors down where a couple lived that owned 4 lurchers that looked similar. Obviously she wasn't theirs so they said they would keep hold of her and try to find the owners. This was about 3pm yesterday. They were hoping someone had lost her whilst walking, as it has happened in the past. No one had claimed her by this morning so the lady decided to look on the internet. She came accross Doglost and had a look. When she saw Tanners page she thought it was a bit of a long shot as it was so far away from home but as she was stolen there would be a possibilty. She called me this morning at around 11am and said she thought she might have found Tanner. As you can imagine I was pretty histerical. She then sent me photos which seemed to take an age. Whilst I sat gripping my friends arm and jumping up and down on my bed. When the photos arrived there were no questions that it was Tanner. It was quite an emotional time as my friend and I were sat crying. We jumped straight in the car, on our journey to get my puppy dog. The Sat Nav took us all directions but at around 3.30pm we arrived in Guildford. I walked in the door and was greated by a wagging tail and big cuddles. Apparently she had been very quiet and subdued until this time. The couple were very nice and serious lurcher lovers. They made us feel very welcome and had baked a lovely chocolate cake to have with tea. She is now home safe but very tired. She is just off to Grandma's for her Sunday dinner. I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody that has given up their time to find Tanner. Tanner would like to say a personal thank you to Jan. Please can you PM me your address? I will proceed to find the B*****ds that took her, no doubt they have more dogs that aren't theirs. They cannot keep getting away with this!!! I couldn't bare to see other people going through the heartache I have gone through in the last week. Thanks again to everyone for all your help. i will now remain a doglost helper forever and help however and wherever I can. Off now to crack open the Champagne. Please join me in a toast for Tanner being home and well. xxxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep the information coming peeps, there are sooooo many people now looking for Tanner! I spoke to Tanners mum this morning who is well on the case and so are the police! Whoever has Tanner needs to give her up NOW whilst you are able to ~ a phone call to Tanners mum or to Dog Lost HQ to tell us where she is is all that is needed. There has been lots of fabulous info passed to us, all of which we are following up. Please everyone keep postering EVERYWHERE ~ Tanner had no ID on her collar so we need to make her face visible EVERYWHERE. A huge thank you to everyone who is working so hard to bring her home x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Handed out hundreds and hundreds of posters of Tanner at Cheltenham Racecourse this evening - caught the general public on the way home - Asked people to poster all the local shops in the various areas that they were off to - lots of the racing yards took several to plaster round Lambourn. Last week there were reports in the Wilts and Glos standard of someone offering ?700 for a young lurcher which was being walked in a park near cirencester - owner the report was made to Cirencester police - the owner of the dog was followed by the person who wanted the dog they may have a number plate it could be related. The standard will definately have the womans contact details. Don't give up hope I have been in your situation and I know how desperate you must be feeling. We are all praying for Tanner to be home safe soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We've got 20++ local ie Lambourn area racing people coming for lunch tomorrow also the local land agent and I'll be out and about around Lambourn if I can manage to hang about for the week - owner needs to poster all the racing/livery yards and pubs asap, in the area between Wantage/Uffington and the White Horse Hill etc etc. IT'S LAMBOURN OPEN DAY ON GOOD FRIDAY and so area will be heaving with people and dogs - I would very much like to get a BEWARE poster that can be handed round esp at the field events in the afternoon - 1000s go, many local also a poster with all the local missing dogs. Alison, hostess where I am staying, is also doing the PR for the West Berks P2P at Lockinge just outside Wantage on Monday week [|Easter Monday] - we have a huge email database here, lets use it!! Best you look at other missing dogs SE & SW, Dolly a Saluki, in blue (thank god) India Rose, Whizz, Totness etc and the latest Dog Theives alert. You may find a common thread, information and advice. I would stongly recommend you give the owners a call also. Postering is really important get that info out there for ALL to see, and dont forget the Pubs have you got a freindly landord that can keep an eye out for you. Please check Vets Rescues, Pounds often they have hundreds coming in daily so you can not rely on their memory. GOOD LUCK x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Greylady
Owner will forward a photo to us this afternoon. Tanner is a whippet/greyhound/saluki x smooth coated, and is predominantly fawn. She was taken from under her owners nose from the stable yard by the occupants of the above vehicle who drove into the yard and enticed Tanner into the vehicle. The vehicle was very muddy and "box-like" in arrearrance, possibly a Fourtrack or old style Shogun. There were two people in the vehicle. The vehicle left towards Wantage. Police informed and are investigating. As soon as the poster is circulated lets get this little dog known everywhere and make her too hot to handle!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
