  • Other Info She's very timid in strange places and with strange people. She's most likely trapped in a shed or hiding under a bed in a flat and will just be lying completely still and silent, even if called. Please prop shed doors open if possible and have a good root around under beds, sofas etc.

Thank you for all the tips Jane. She was found by a neighbour cowering under his wardrobe and he phoned me as a result of the flyer I'd put through his door. I've just skived off of work to go and rescue her! Such a relief. :-)

PS When searching for Mildred, use the same deodorant say that you use on a day to day basis, as she will recognize the scent, and your the one she trusts.. You could also take with you an air freshener which you use regularly in the house, as it should remind her of her home comforts.

Pss Is there a dominant cat in the area? As some will chase a cat out of it`s own territory. However the cat usually returns after a few days if they think it`s "Safe" enough for them to do so. Could local people check under small spaces too. (Cats have very flexible spines, which enables them to hide in narrow openings). ThanksLast edited: 2018-05-28 11:32:32

Check all outbuildings, empty houses, and cellars. Check THOROUGHLY as some cats will hide in., or behind an object within, especially if timid like Mildred. (My cat is very timid too) Empty contents of the hoover onto the garden, as her scent will be there. Put some tuna, or warm chicken in her dish, and call her; night/early morning is best. Rattl some treats too. Place her UNWASHED blanket into a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave in the garden in a sheltered spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Wipe her scent on your garden fences, gates, doors too; anywhere leading up top the garden. Try a squeaky toy, as it may attract her attention. Walk around the area, holding an object with her scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Could someone be feeding her, even though timid? When it is nightfall, and you are searching, use a strong torch, as the light will reflect a cats eyes. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. Ask around, especially those with children, as they can be very observant. Paws xd.
