Jane, looks like you are having trouble posting.....if you were putting a lengthy post on it may have timed out before you posted hence the blank messages, that sometimes happens....if thats the case type it out in word or something and then copy and paste in to the comments box on here....that should work. Or maybe its the jet lag!! lol! Welcome back! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This may be a long shot.. but.. I have already relayed this info to owners. 2 Jack russells are running around the industrial estate in Hemel Hempstead, the roundabout that goes to the local tip, I narrowly avoided them this week, has not seen this posting then, various other work collegues have also seen them, they are the right colours, and look healthy have informed the dog warden Sarah, approx 100 yards from Cherry Trees !!! for all in area please keep a look out, now I know their names I will  look out any try and match..as I said long shot, but not that far away from home..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I’ve emailed Jayne/Admin about the new Gypsies’ and Travellers’ Radio programme for Essex, which is put out for 2 hours on Radio Essex BBC on Sunday evenings for two hours, 7/9pm iirc. They encourage people to phone in. I think it’s a good idea to get them onside and help ’find’ local dogs This is the website: I’m going later to Great Leighs the new racecourse btwn Braintree and Chelmsford. I won’t take posters [don’t have any ink in my printer] as I’m Press today and don’t want to overstep my brief - they’re letting in so few people yet it’s delicate! - but I’ll speak to Pippa Cuckson the PR lady and see if there is any way she can send out the poster by email for us eg to local staff - and just sound her out in general... She has a very tough job right now and is mega busy but I’ve done her a few favours so who knows...!! If anyone can come and hand out posters or leaflets to cars in the car park or leaving the course, that might be a good idea, tho I’m not sure if there will still be security on the gates off A131 so you can get in to park - it’s very strict right now as only 500/600 allowed per meeting. Last race is 7.50, staff will leave after that. There is a layby just before the gates, but parking there would block it...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, have just logged on and have received my poster, I'm slightly further out at CO13 Frinton, but can poster local vets and animal sanctuary at Little Clacton if this will help. I work at Essex University which is just outside Colchester so can poster staff noticeboards, as large percentage of staff travel in from all areas, also got poster in car as drive daily from home to Colchester and often sitting in traffic!. Fingers crossed these two are found soon, would be devastated if my two were to ever go astray. Thoughts are with owner.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to Caroline, Chelsea's owner who is in contact via a friend with the people who caught one of the JRTs in Harlow. Just to clarify the situation for anyone (as I know I was getting a bit confused with the different JRTs running loose in Harlow!) - 2 JRTs were seen running loose near Halsham (sp?) Hall in Harlow. 1 of these was caught - rough coated JRT, with tail, the other 1 is still loose and running. The one that was caught is still at the farm of the people who caught it. Caroline is going to get them to get in touch with Doglost later so we can get full details and hopefully a photo to go on site. It is believed these 2 dogs were together. Additionally there is another older JRT in Harlow (mentioned on another thread on DL, Poppys I think) which sometimes goes wandering but usually finds his way back home. Then Mutts in Distress also had a white and tan JRT in recently - this dog has been claimed. The other JRT they have listed on here recently is a dog, on this found site under 11/04/08, number 4718. I hope that makes sense and clarifies things! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Descriptions are various so it might be worth just ruling out in person Finders Details: Mutts in Distress T. 01279 654785 or 01279 656633 I'm so sorry you have lost your dogs I have a terrier myself who was lost but returned to me by a kind dog walker who found her running around. I think re-reading posting the tan and white could be far too young to be Millie it was just the sighting of two terriers running lose together that caught my eye and I remembered your post might be worth ruling out in-case details aren't accurate. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Two Jack Russell's have been seen running around together in Harlow. One has been caught today and taken to the farm by the John Barley Corn Pub, the other JRT is still loose. The one caught I understand (from postings on this site about Poppy missing in CM18) was tan and white but I understand wiry coated. I know it is a long way for them to travel but could it be Millie?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone. I took the call for the JRT found in Nazeing and can confirm it definitely has an all brown face with just a thin white stripe down the middle. I immediatly described Milly to the kennels concerned and they said it could not be her. Sorry. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I posted on several of our JRTs' pages last night where the description fitted for the Nazeing bitch, some going back a long time... most likely one was ??Trixxie iirc? There do seem to be a crazy number of JRT missing, also spaniels esp Springers... Do wish the police and councils could be persuaded to take our 'friends' propensity to help themselves to things more seriously! Jansen the dog I was wondering about re SAPPHIRE is this one you described: [ Have been to Traveller site and spoken to them as the last time we went they did have a small Black and white Jack not mine, wondered if it was their dog, ]Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There's a white/brown JRT on the Found page, found in Nazeing. The description doesn't exactly fit as her head is 'brown with white central line' but you can't lose anything by calling to check. Good luck. I hope these two will be safely reunited any time now. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the update jansen, great news about the paper, let us know what day its in there. Hopefully the dog warden will be able to shed some light regarding the reported dead dog. Ensure he speaks to the street cleansing dpt at the council incase they collected and hadn't informed him. Was it over the weekend that the dead dog was sighted? If so ask the dog warden who would have collected the dog out of hours, may have been contractors rather than the council. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

when i went to check about the report of dead dog, i went to the garden centre first and asked they also knew nothing about?they didn't which they found strange as the customers would have come in and said something. But today have had another person phoning about body seen on the same road but a few miles away. Dog warden had finished when i found this out will ring again in the morning.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Friend who saw the body has had dogs all his life, and would definately know the difference between a dead dog, and one playing in the road. I thinks it sounds suspect that a black and white body was found not far away in Silver End, on the same day, after all these people don't like s**t on their own doorsteps, so would have no qualms about moving it elsewhere to avoid suspicion.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to dog warden no dead dog outside Baytree farm, which is next to Twin Oaks site on the A120 but did have a black and white spaniel found dead last thursday but at silver end? Corbiere, do you mean my jack i have had for 10 years, or do you mean the report of dead dog (which was not dead but a small greyhound owned by the travellers running about in the road)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I wonder if there's any chance that b/w JRT might have been Sapphire, missing from near Newmarket since last summer... well there are so many of them missing from round the country!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

These Gypsys' are getting away with murder, how can they take a dog from under someones nose, they are a law among themselves. Why can't the police go into these sites and sort them out, the police send 600 police into London to recover stolen mobile phones, our dogs are far more precious. Something needs to be done.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jansen, what's the name and where is the traveller site you are referring to? Was the dead dog on a road or just literally outside their site do you know? I will see if I can find anything out too once I know the location. I hope the owners of the spaniel have been in touch with the Police, who hopefully will help! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have had a report of dead dog outside traveller site black and white, but nothing there will check with the council on Monday. Have been to Traveller site and spoken to them as the last time we went they did have a small Black and white Jack not mine, wondered if it was theier dog, but they knew nothing about? Have spoken to Gypsy Liaison Officer but this site is private they only deal with council run sites. www.jackrussellterriers.co.uk is the other site i have been on very helpful and understanding, Still waiting for more info about other dogs? But while Hubby was out this morning met someone else who, yesterday who has their spaniel taken and they saw them do it, just called the dog and told it to get in the car and it did.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Damn, thats a shame. We have a lady at Doglost who deals with the PR side of things and can help with media etc, I will contact her and see if she can help. Crikey 10 Jacks missing in the area.....can you email me any additional details you have, maybe a link to the forum where you discovered this. I will PM you my email address. If the disappearance of all these dogs is related, which sounds a distinct possibility the more details we can gather the better. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jansen, thats great news that the local paper will run a story on Pippa and Milly, well done. I expect you will anyway but do all you can to get them to include a photo of Pippa and Milly with the article too. Let us know how you get on with the paper and when they are going to run the story. It will certainly get more eyes on the look out for Pippa and Milly which is exactly what is needed. We need to make these 2 little ones too hot to handle and get them home where they belong. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi we have been all over the pit this morning had 11 of us, again we called and looked for 2 hours, the weather has not been with us all week, the wind is very noisy when you are trying to listen, and the wild life also makes more noise than you think. The pit is now a small ind est, at the end of a lane it was a quarry, but hasn't been worked for 35 years. yes it does have a lake in it, and in total it is about 17 acres, which i was told last nite, a little more than the 2 acres i told the RSPCA. If they are underground we can't here them, and i would think now to weak to make lots of noise, is there no one who would have a trained dog to listen for this sort of thing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If they're where I think, it's a dis-used gravel pit, now filled with water, and fenced in. You can reach it at end the of Convent lane, then turn left and follow up towards the gravel works, on a map, it's in the top area of the traingle formed by Coggeshall rd, Broad rd, and the bypass. Hi Jansen, thanks for registering and posting. I know when I spoke to you said you'd contacted the police, dog wardens and local vets and also started to poster the area. If anyone local can assist with posters and searching it would be of great help. I'm sure jansen can add to this, but she told me that Pippa and Millie would always normally run home if they didn't return to the person who was walking them - they would never just disappear. She therefore feels they have been taken or given the terrain could have gone down a hole. There were travellers at the end of the road who were there till the Sunday afternoon (Pippa and Millie missing at 8.30am Sunday morning) but owner managed to speak to someone on the site and he said he'd not seen the dogs and that owner was welcome to look around on the site for them. The travellers then moved to Halstead and were as we understand it being moved on from there yesterday afternoon. Millie and Pippas owner I think felt the traveller she was speaking to seemed fairly genuine - please correct me if this isn't the case jansen! If any one is local to Strait Mill and can walk the area helping to search for these two that would be fantastic!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Pippa and Millie went missing whilst on a walk - were chasing rabbits as they usually do but this time didn't return. This was from Straits Mill in Bocking, Braintree. Could only briefly speak to the owner tonight as he had other commitments but will speak again to them tomorrow and get some further details, find out who/where has been contacted etc. Stay safe Pippa and Millie. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
